Boba Fett withdrawl... life after the costume.

Lately there are a few ppl done their suits....

Now that I've finished my ESB Fett., I find myself bored.
Anyone else (done your suit) feel the same? I notice the trend of guys done suits... leave and or say hi once in a while but barely log on anymore. I really like this forum but I do see more new names than before. does that make me part of the old school??

Technically, I'm about 90% due to FP's situation.
But, all in all my suit is done.. I do have to finish up a few small details....

I was thinking I may snag a few Sgt Fangs and make a ROTJ, Holiday Special, Pre-pro w/eyes.

    I may tackle a Pre-pro 3 suit.

Time to save up some $$

Heh...don't ever say you're finished. I "finished" my suit in July, but have been doing some upgrades and tweaking ever since.

Some aluminum shoulder/cod studs here, new gloves there...and a revamped jet pack harness somewhere along the way.

You may have gone top shelf from the beginning, and I did for most things, but I'm still finding stuff that I'd like to improve...most often times after seeing some of the excellent work done on there by some of the boys and girls.

I think you're definitely old school. I remember reading some of your stuff when I started a year ago. That is a good thing...you can pass your wisdom on to some of the new guys.

Good work!! Someday I may do an ESB suit... but next up is a Galactic Marine.

Time to save up some $$

Go for Commander Gree. (I'm only saying that because it seems like something more creative and unusual than Vader.)

Well I dont have a suit(of any kind) and I am bored....

I have to ask how can you be bored when you can be a lifesize action figure..... The way the "cards of life" are being dealt to me I dont think I will ever know.....

now you need a han solo in carbonite. That way you have a background for kids to take their pics with you

Re: Boba Fett withdrawl... life after the costume.

    Thx all

I do know that I'll ALWAYS be tweeking my suit... but due to all the new found info and contributions from members like Art, Alex, Rogue Studios...etc so much "accurate" info this year has popped up that it makes it so easy to have a A+ replica.

10 yrs ago, most.. only dreamed of having a decent representation of a movies suit.

now you can just buy a kit and paint away...

Next on my list, other than fett helmets... is a Trooper suit ( I use to have a FX) then a Sgt Fang Vader.

    sithchick, the han sounds interesting...

hmm wait you mean my working on improving my Boba, completing my EP3 clone, improving my custom mando, working on my jedi AND sith isn't a sign of my boredom? I thought it was odd that my wife keeps threatening divorce and death upon me if I keep buying more armor and SW stuff, god I'm gonna miss her. (J/k my marriage is in great shape and it's just a funny joke)

I hear you bro...when I got done with my ROTJ, I got lost too...sure we will still upgrade with the new parts coming in but it is limbo for now.

I'm waiting to start on my new project...gotta do with the Flood and Grunts and the big guy that fights em.

In the meantime, I'm gonna keep sculpting and casting to make some extra cash and fine-tune my work.

    Stay safe,

    Tim.

It all sounds like a good problem to have...

I've sold off my biker and my sandtrooper to do this...All I have is my officer and snow trooper. I can't wait to finish and troop in my Fett. I'd love to do a Bacara! I'd also love to do a ton of other stuff. It's a crazy hobbie!

Re: Boba Fett withdrawl... life after the costume.

Haha, boredom doesn't exist for me. It seems every time I start on a costume, about halfway through I go "Hey, maybe I should do that costume too!" Then I start a 2nd while doing the first, and a 3rd somehow sneaks in. We are all sick in the head, but it's too much fun.

I just have an awesome FX kit for now, I'll be purchasing AP soon. The Canadian Dollar keep on dropping, so I keep getting a better discount I'm just waiting to strike...

This costuming hobby can be addictive, working on Bib Fortuna, wanted something a little different from the norm. Bloody hell, it's hard work!!

I know what you mean Andy...
    *awaits the gaunt announcement*

Hey Arn... I just noticed from your pics I possibly found one part you have not finished? the ESB ankle ties?

If the costume sits in the closet or only gets put on display THEN I can see Boba withdrawl kicking in. But, if you troop it then it'll keep you going for years with upgrades, replacement of worn and/or damaged parts, adjustments etc etc - There is no end to Fett, just the beginning of a new phase of life.

when i got "done" with my rotj i was in that same boat for a while, but i kept coming back. now i'm getting excited about things again; looking for stuff to upgrade. s1p's rubber knees, the (hopefully) soon to be reinone boots, the ms3 i've got sitting here staring at me, and either fp or mow doing jedi gauntlets all have me pretty stoked. and with winter* coming on it's time to get working on costume projects again.

    * winter is for costumes, summer is for my other passion and that's working on classic schwinn stingrays.

Re: Boba Fett withdrawl... life after the costume.

I've been "done" mine for over two years now, and at first was a bit bored. The thrill of the hunt was on for so long that once I was "done" and had to turn off the hunt it became weird to just look at what I had created. As time went by I found myself still being interesting in all of the reading and new discoveries, pictures, info., etc. and then coming here daily ever since. While I may not actively participate in many ways, in others I love the wealth of information that is still available.

While there have been some still further uber accurate ways to improve my costume to keep the project alive it's simply cost prohibitive for such minor nuances. You have to draw a line in the sand somewhere....at least I did. It's a constant temptation to go back, or do over but I don't think I would like my ESB any more even if I did.

I still have a Snowtrooper costume in a box plus all of the soft parts that I've had for about two years, but have been wrapped up with so many home improvements that I just don't have nor want to spend the time to finish it for display.

I feel the way sometimes too. When I look around, and there's nothing to do, I get a little sad. Like the feeling of "Ok, now what?"

    We just love this stuff.

man, I've got 7 501st approved costumes. NONE of them is ever "finished." Although I can completely understand what you mean about the boredom. I put a lot of energy and time into Boba and when he was "complete" I felt a big hole open up in my life. So I just started more major builds. Keep tweaking, it'll help fill the time.
