Boba Fett Movie Confirmed

I know I'm excited as hell

Less than 24 hours after Walt Disney Pictures officially confirmed plans to develop stand-alone feature films in the Star Wars universe, EW is reporting that they have learned which two characters the first two projects will focus on: Boba Fett and a young Han Solo.

Plans for the Solo film call for it to take place in the time between the prequel trilogy and the original trilogy. No plot details have been revealed, but it's a near-certainty that a brand new actor would have to step in to play everyone's favorite scruffy looking Nerf-herder.

The adventures of Han Solo pre-A New Hope was actually the focus of one of the earliest Star Wars novels, 1979's "Han Solo at Star's End", set two years before the events of the 1977 film.

The Boba Fett film, meanwhile, would be set between A New Hope and The Empire Strikes Back and would follow the bounty hunter on an intergalactic adventure.

Both of the the films (of which Lawrence Kasdan is said to be writing one and Simon Kinberg writing the other) are tentatively planned to see release sometime after 2015 when J.J. Abrams' Episode VII is planned to hit theaters.

Previous rumors called for a stand-alone film to follow the adventures of Yoda, but that has not yet been confirmed.

Excellent. I'm excited to be able to take my daughters to new Star Wars films at the theaters.

Really hate the thought of making the Han Solo movie.. It's like replacing Indiana jones...would you?

I hope this is set in stone. It would be awesome to have a fett movie.

Let's see...George has whored the franchise in ways I would've never thought possible and Fett hasn't really been portarayed as any sort of bad *** in the Clone wars series anyway. On the other hand, Disney acquired Marvel and they're doing just fine. I see nothing but good things coming up with Boba, especially since he's one of the two guys they're leading spin-off movies with so I'm sure Disney will do everything in their power to make sure he succeeds. I don't think there's anything to worry about.

If you've read "Boba Fett, a Pratical Man" There's alot of complexity to his character. I think Disney can run with but expect to see some Daddy issues... I'd like to see Boba Fett: Mandolore storyline

Ill believe it when I see it....will Temuera Morrison play him you think? Would you chose him or would you chose someone else?

I think it should be a bit like the judge dread thing...the helmet does'nt come off, so anyone could play him, heck even a member of TDH!!!!

I don't think anything is confirmed just yet.

Anyway, if they do make a Boba Fett movie, the helmet needs to stay on at all times. I may ruffle some feathers here but I want them to go back to the original concept of a mysterious, Eastwoodian man of few words and hope they just sort of forget about the prequels. To me Boba Fett will always be Jeremy Bulloch and Jason Wingreen so I'd like to see an effort to at least try to approximate the body type of the former and voice of the latter. I absolutely hated George inserting Morrison's voice in TESB and frankly didn't at all like Boba's backstory that he concocted.

If Disney/LFL can put out a movie that makes no reference to the prequels and delivers a western-in-space, "Man With No Name"-type tale, with a Fett that confidently lives firmly in the "grey area" of morality and happily plays both sides when it suits him, I will be (surprised and) quite happy.

I dunno why people keep saying these things about Disney doing this and that to Star Wars. LUcasfilm is still running the show. Disney isnt going to do anything but give green lights and money. They didnt take over Lucasfilm, they just bought it. And like Verbal said, they bought Marvel and thats doing great...honestly if i didnt know they bought Marvel....i probably wouldnt have figured it out any time soon. So i dont expect Disney to ruin any Star Wars character or Movie...its all on Lucasfilm....now can Lucasfilm ruin a character or movie...thats the question! lol

Well John Carter was a "slight" flop but, personally, I'm perfectly willing to give Disney-owned LFL the benefit of a doubt until they give me a reason not to. Frankly, I think George made a great many questionable decisions/choices in the last 15-20 years, maybe even further back if you count Howard the Duck, so I'm trying to be optimistic about the new leadership.

Stoked, no question they will do a great job with the Fett Film. Yes LFL is still a seperate division within the Disney umbrella, however Kathleen Kennedy and Bob Iger are in control now and both have exceptional track records. I am very confident they will do us justice. I have lived through 2 Corporate buy-outs in my life time and when they say that such and such is staying on as a "consultant"that usually means the opposite. George is sidelined and he is out; after that Jar Jar experiment and Cryannie Skywalker character it can't possibly get worse.

I like the idea of a DREDD style Boba Fett movie: no helmet off, realistic/bleeding hero (or anti-hero) and the ESB era attitude. I can see an evolution of his armor and gear; in the beginning he could be a renegade super-trooper from the Mandalore system, but as the movie evolve, he should customize (or 'borrow') his armor and weapons, and we can see how he 'acquire' the Slave I ship, and I think the movie should end with a Boba Fett wearing the ESB Hero suit. If they go back to the ESB era concept and background story, this movie could be a great hit. But I can already see lots of disappointed fans, because you will never be able to fulfill everyone's dreams and demanding.

Well, according to the rumors, this movie will either be between ANH and TESB or TESB and ROTJ. Personally I wouldn't mind seeing him sporting something akin to the Sideshow Mythos Fett, at least at some point.

I love how they could go so many ways with his armor. My pick is for it to be sometime between his 1 second in AHH:SE and "The bridge" scene in ESB. It'd be nice to have a story that also mentions his eventual hunt for Solo in ESB. I'd kill to see a pristine armor as well, even if only for a second,lol

Disney will Rock Our Boba Worlds!!!

Since Lucas considers the Special Editions his version of Star Wars....adding in Boba in ANH wearing his ROTJ suit, depending where they place the new Boba movie timeline, he could be wearing either ESB or ROTJ because using the 3 OT:SE movies only, he owned two full suits at the same time.

Honestly, I'd be surprised if they pay attention to that kind of detail. Afterall, that's how the SE "hybrid" Fett came about in the first place, "carelessly" (I assume) mating the TESB helmet to the ROTJ suit. No telling what we'll see next but I think we can bet there will be even more variations to his look, either intentionally or accidentally.

Actually in Disneys Star Tours new version used a member from TDH to have an accurate Boba Fett (Fettofficer) so they actually have an idea of where to go for information...Joe Johnston contacted Art for the paint colors and such to use on his contribution to the helmet project...who may or may not end up directing the film we all know he wanted to last year. Maybe he'll get the gig, and seek out TDH for the expert knowledge.

That would be great. It'd be very fitting for Johnston to direct any proposed Fett movie, or at least play an active role.

considering his Captain america role and that is marvel/disney i hope so...

I just think some things are better left untampered.

This. As long as they don't team up Boba with Jar JAR I think we'll be fine. In fact it would be really cool if Boba had a hand in Jar Jars disappearance from the SW Universe..............

there is one man in the verse i would trust to reprise the role of han solo, and that would be nathan fillion.

I'd personally like to see Temuera play Boba... But he'd be more suited to play him in events set after ROTJ, when he's a little older and has a scarred body,

Heck, they could make a stand-alone movie about one of the rogue clones, played by Temuera...

Yeah, that kid has quite a number of fans talking. He's got the voice and mannerisms down pretty darn well, and it doesn't hurt that he basically looks like a 20-something year old clone of Harrison Ford. It'd be an uphill battle to convince the "powers that be" to hire an unknown aspiring actor, but I hope he and his agent do their due diligence if this young Han movie ever comes to pass...

Because of JJ Abrams directing, and because he wrote and produced Regarding Henry, I cant help but imagine Han Solo saying "Ritz"

Im all for more SW films. But they should make them entirely independent from the known film characters. Maybe 50 years after ROTJ and the legacy set by Luke in the rebuilding of the Jedi order.

The only movie Abrams is confirmed to be directing is Ep. VII. Who is directing Ep. VIII and IX and the spinoffs is unknown at this point, but I suspect it'll be several individuals.

Id like M.Hamel to come ,out he looks like a aged Jedi .

I get so excited when they announce they're making new movies because then they'll leave the originals alone (I hope). In regards to the Fett movie I say the helmet has to come off....how else will they pump out 100 new figures....which I'll no doubt have to buy, bugger it haha

Since it is Disney I doubt they will go through a whole movie without taking off the helmet. It's like when the rumors of a Halo movie came out all of us fans were pissed about the fact that they might show his identity and ruin it for us all. Thankfully, Halo will for now be preserved with no movie plans. lol. I think it will be a 50/50 shot though of them messing it up or making it a beautiful movie.

I agree with the earlier posts about Marvel being taken by Disney and as a Marvel fan I was pleasantly surprised with how well they have done. And I totally agree with AaronDB94 that hopefully they will stop adding stuff to the originals! I'm still not happy the Lucas chose Hayden Christensen, and not in the slightest amused that he put him in the blam original return of the jedi.

Anyway, needless to say I am very excited about this and I have high hopes Disney will not disappoint.
