    Board Names

I've always thought about where people get there names from. It might be interesting to find out the origins.

Like me for example: I signed up after I was just looking at the football jerseys with FETT on the back on starwars.com, so...TeamFett!

    What about you guys?

I completely forgot to use my normal Boba screen name and thought this at the time sounded better than Boba Scott of Boerne Fett. Is there anyway I can change my name?

    Re: Names

some people mistake me for Infra Fett. I don't mind though.

Well, my name comes from a mix of a Technical Device and Jango/Boba Fett.
Infrared, like Infrared cameras that can detect heat. I was trying to think of a good name then I put them together and liked the sound of it.

TxFett, just give The Dent a PM and he'll take care of your name change.

    Re: Names

When I used to play paintball on a regualar basis, I played in the woods. I customized my paintball mask with paint and strips of a camo t-shirt that I cut up that kind of looked like long hairs around the top and sides. The point was that the strips were camo and they would move in the wind like leaves in the wind. If I stood in front of or behind a bush you couldn't see me. Well after I shot a hand full of people that were looking right at me and never saw me or saw me right as I was laying into the trigger they thought I was like the predator and since the little stips of fabric reminded them of the predators dreads it just made since. So it stuck and has been my screen name and nickname on the paintball field ever since.

Oh and the MV are my first and middle initial.

Right of the bat, I'm gonna say I was surprised that "Jimmy BufFETT" was not taken when I first joined. Anyway, I had been browsing as a guest for a little while and seeing some people had used the name 'Fett' in their user IDs, so I started thinking of a good one for mine. I couldn't come up with anything good, until I picked up one of my Jimmy Buffett CDs ... an then it came to me. Well, I listen to Jimmy Buffett fequently, so it was perfect.

Mine is I guess a little un-original. I live in the Tampa Bay area & used "TampaFett" first to see if it was taken. If I could change my name it would be "BH-5150" ( Bounty Hunter & "5150" my favorite Van halen album & btw police code for "crazy guy on the loose")

I'm a web designer and I have some Native American heritage in my background. Growing up my friends always called me "Chief". I stuck them together when I was building my personal website years ago and it stayed ever since.

    Re: Names

I am really bad at deciding on names so I asked my brother what he thought. He just jokingly threw out the first thing that popped in his head. It was like an unspoken dare. After a few more days I just kinda gave up and figured why not. At least it'll be interesting and I can make my avatar sorta evil looking to compensate somewhat for the girly name.

    Re: Names

I used to be Grendel Prime but my login got archived out of being able to post when I went through a separation/divorce and wasn't around much/have time for the costuming thing...

So --- Grendel Prime Reborn seemed appropriate.

Grendel Prime of course being the last incarnation of the Grendel characterization of the Matt Wagner Grendel comic series. They variant of the Grendel "eyes" I created can be found usually as my avatar, or in this case they are on one of my shoulder bells as a sort of Grendel clan affiliation (shoulder bell in question is my avatar to the left BTW)

Pretty soon the Grendel eyes of mine - along with some very cool custom Grendel related artwork contained within each "eye" - will be my first and only tattoo scrolled on about 3/4 of my back.

Besides the mandalorian mythos... the Grendel concept is the only one I've ever really found a strong liking/affiliation to. Well... graphically speaking.

But then again - trying to dress up like a Shakespeareian character will usually incite ridicule, a beatdown, or more questions than one might get in a custom mando as to what the frak you are trying to be!

Drokk was a curse word from the old Judege Dredd comics. I added the "ul" years ago as Drokk was taken when I tried to sign up with my first ISP.

I just thought it made it look kind of cool.

Like GrendelPrimeReborn, I share a great interest in the Matt Wagner art and the graphic novels/comics that they are in.

For the longest time I used GrendelPrYme as a username on online gaming forums, and when I joined here I noticed that there was already a GrendelPrime, so I changed. The first appearance of Grendel Prime was in a small comic that was called "Primer" I made the change to match my other name and added my lucky #.....Prymer13

I've had the username and email "Ratphink" for years.
Combination of my love of all things Big Daddy Roth and favorite cult movie Rat Pfink a Boo Boo. When signing up for this board it was only natural to change "Fink" to "Fett." Created the custome icon to fit.

When I got a car after returning from Okinawa, I decided to have a costume liscense plate...I took my fav SW character "Fett" and then my favorite number "402" (dont ask, I have no flippin idea how that came to be) and so my liscense plate reads: FETT402

So for the past 3 years whenever I sign on w/ a new message board, that's my handle. 8)

Mine's not too original. Since I was a kid, I always loved Boba Fett. I thought he was the baddest guy in the entire SW universe. I have always wanted to have a set of Fett armor, but up until recently, couldn't do it. So, I was always a "WannaBe".

    Boba - well that's a no brainer.

When the pressure is on to get props built for a film, help design a costume or whatever, I seem to have the never ending cigarrette. Same was true in trying to put together a Fett costume in time for a halloween party within three weeks time.

My name is boring; instead of trying to pick the name of one of my RP/Fanfilm characters, I just tried to use Boba Fett in the slim hope that nobody had taken it. Well, no dice. So I just added the year that I graduated from high school, and voila, my screen name.

Oddly enough, I wanted to register so I could ask a question; never really planned to hang around this long. **** you, addicting TDH. **** you.

Mine was kinda passed down to me from ma' dad, he used this screen name since I was like 6. Then when I started using the computer, I always registered to sites using "deadbolt", So he had to come up with another one . The name is from a local garage rock band that my older brothers were friends with. And my dad was wearing one of their band shirts at the time he had to come up with a screen name.

Mine is an homage to Cabaret Voltaire, one of my fav New Wave electro bands from growing up in the 80's. I just happened to be listening to them when I was trying to figure out a cool screen name at another site a couple of years ago. Hence then, I have been known as "Commander Voltaire" , or something.

I was introduced to ebay as it being the ultimate source for sw collectibles. With that in mind I created an ID that would follow an Imperial theme and have carried that ID over to all other associated forums.

    Yes! Django rules!

My name was a result of trying to pick a Warhammer 40K name for an email address. After going through all of the chaos characters I could think of, and each being already taken, I finally tried chaoslord only to find that it was taken also. So I just altered the spelling of chaos and ta-da!

    Re: Board Names

For me, I wanted something "Jedi" related. And when I first tried to register on another board, I kept going thru different screen names that were already taken.
I was like. . . if I were a Super Jedi, I could cancel all their screen names!!
And then I tried superjedi, and it worked.

    But, who recognizes my avatar??

It was an average evening when the Sniffer was awakened by a light. He realized the keyboard was glowing. A voice from above told him to type
www.thedentedhelmet.com - - - afterwards, The Sniffer was annoyed by this green yet glowing keyboard, so he threw it into the hills of Mt. Sniff.

Only to later figure out there would be an attachment. Assuming there was a power to this keyboard, it was discovered in a crevace of icecycles in a desolate area of Mt .Sniff.

Little did this young Sniffer know how be enjoying the finest of scents. This power would give hime the name "The Sniffer"

    Re: Board Names

This is a great idea by the way, there are so many names that I've been wondering about...

Gilmore of OK - Glad to finally figure that one out, for some reason it always bugged me that I couldn't figure where your name came from.....

Tampa Fett - I love the 5150 reference, I'm a huge VH fan too.

Mirax - What?? You lost me at "Booster"

As for mine, pretty borring too but my name is Jason (Jay) and back in high school I played guitar in a couple of rock bands. I'm actually in my yearbook as the guy voted most likley to become a Rock Star. So J-ROCK stuck ever since.

By the way, this was all well before the Canadian TV series Trailler Park Boys! Where there is a charachter named J-Rock (That was weird when I first heard of him, not really the kind of guy you want to share a nickname with).

    Re: Board Names

Back in 1989, when Keaton's Batman hit the screen, my friends and I were extremely excited about our favorite hero. After seeing the movie (and a little under-age drinking), we waxed philosophical about the Dark Knight's relation to a modern ninja (we were also into 'ninja culture', having worn ninja costumes at Halloween for years on end; I wore a bat logo on mine that year).

After shooting down ideas about becoming superheroes (we were drunk, remember?), I did a rough comic sketch of my interpretation of the 'BatNinja', which eventually became my screen name and avatar.

    Then there was RoboSquirrel...

    Lets see, Shortimer52

When I was in the Marines my last year I was called a short timer. I though the name was cool so I used it as my AOL screen name, but shorttimer was taken. So I took a T out and went with Shortimer the 52 was the last two numbers to my MOS, 0352.

It's stuck ever since then, and I like it.

I practice Chinese Martial Arts (Wushu) and "Chuan" in Mandarin is "Fist". And typically, the name of a Chinese Martial arts style usually ends in "chuan", ex. Long Fist, which is one of the more common styles, is "Chang Chuan" in Mandarin. And Jen, my name is Jennifer, is what I usually go by. And my Wushu is sometimes so bad, that I joke and say that when I'm performing my Wushu poorly, that I'm doing Jen Chuan. LOL!

This looks like a fun thread. Mine come from when I was a teen, I entered a lot of kite contests and I always won my categories so the local papers called me the wizard of flight.

A few years ago I was looking for an online name that I could use everywhere and no one uses wizardofflight.

Now I work for the FAA as a safety engineer, so it has a new connotation you don't fly your plane unless I say the magic words.

My name originated from something I had read about the origin of the Fett character. It had something to do with him being loosely modeled after Clint Eastwood in the Sergio Leone 'spaghetti westerns'. AFettFullofDollars is just an augmentation of 'A Fist Full of Dollars'. And I really like the way my screen name is abbreviated: AFFO$.

    Paul

    PS- Great thread idea!

I came up with mine a few years ago when introduced to japanise manga/anime all-nite shows (24h anime). Though I like anime, that 24-hour stretch did not appeal to me, and kinda hoped for some shortened stuff.. Then a friend hit me with super-deformed anime, also called chibi, and considering the gear I have, Chibigear was born. Joining this crowd, I opted for a little more 'fettish' name, and nothing but Chibi Fett came up. After the name, of course, I thought of making a super-deformed fett, and some work is allready on the way...

    Re: Board Names

My name comes from Cartoon Planet, a show on Cartoon Network back in the mid 90s that starred Space Ghost, Brak and Zorak. I really liked Zorak but often that name was already taken. Brak, who is Zorak's best friend always refers to Zorak as his "buddy" so instead of "Zorak", I use "Brak's Buddy", because that name is never taken! The funny thing is, most people tend to call me "Braks" and now I am identified more with Brak than Zorak which is disturbing as Brak is a bit of an idiot.... maybe people are trying to tell me something...

Below is a pic of Zorak (left) and Brak (right).

    Re: Board Names

As you might have guessed, my name is Josh. I went to USC and listened to a lot of gangsta rap music (we were in the 'hood afterall) and bought a T-shirt with Ice Cube on the front. One of the guys in the dorm started calling me "Josh Cube" or just "Cube." That was 1993 and it stuck. I used it everywhere, cause it was original and never seemed to be taken...

Then some kid named Josh who is really into nintendo game cube started going by JoshCube on some nintendo board and got into a huge flame war, got banned, etc. Now there are several sites dedicated to making fun of him and even a wikipedia article. I've even gotten random hate mails cause it's also my yahoo ID. I'd really like to thump that guy. Bad enough to steal my name, worse yet to give it a bad rep.

Anyway, I still go by it cause it's mine I say.

I am a huge gaming nerd, I have playing them all. My name in games is always Cal and oddly I am always a fighter type class. For some reason the numbers 196 appear constantly in every game I play where damage is concerned. 19+6 or 196 or 196+16 damage is like a theme with me for some reason even in pen and paper D&D.

    Re: Board Names

My name came from being lazy and unoriginal. I was wanting to get together a Fett costume in 2002 and was searching eBay. I came across an auction for a jumpsuit and some gauntlets I think. So I rushed to make an account so that I could score this excellent merchandice. I knew I wanted to get some trooper armor and join the 501st so I stole the TK designation and just put Fett after it. So I became TK-Fett on eBay.

The seller was a guy named WellPaidKiller (a veterian member here) and he mentioned TDH in the auction so I found the place later that day and signed up using the same name. So here I am years later with the same unoriginal name and still no complete Fett suit.
