Bloody idiots...

How can Star Wars be a rip off of Halo?

Star Wars and Halo are nothing alike, so she doesn't know junk about either. I told her, "Star Wars started in '77, Halo came out 2001. There's over 20 years difference!" She didn't get it.

You should try the Halo games and books. The games are the most over rated games ever, but are quite fun.

Turns out that Halo originated on the Atari 2600, and George Lucas stole the original copy and transformed it into what we know today as Star Wars.

To be honest I'm not even a huge Starwars fan (my wife might tell you different though). But lets talk about Boba Fett and i'm there all night

I'm the same level as you are. I haven't even seen a Star Wars movie in about two years. The only reason I own the movies is because LucasFilm gives me a set every time they re-re-re-re-re-release them.

I'd agree with that, I don't think I'm a "typical SW fan", I like a few scenes in SW, and I like the idea of them, but MY Star Wars proboly varies alot from evryone else's, enspecialy some heckler trying to poke fun at it, who dosen't know a thing about cinema in general, but proboly in turn owns the movies in some way or another. Like for instance, I LOVE the Legacy comics, would an average joe heckler know about this awsomeness? Proboly not. Would they know of Triumph the Insult Comic Dog's remarks about asking Vader what button he uses to call his mom, proboly so.

If you don't make fun of something when evryone else is, then you in turn are a dork/geek whatever. Even the writers for Jay Leno make fun of SW, ST,etc. If they can't break the public's mold of ideas about Sci-Fi, I would ask them to whatch a season or two of the new BSG. I think it speaks my thoughts exactly, that you can have a drama, with a Sci-Fi twist, and not evryone loves those Sci-Fi presents movies, and falls for anything of the type. I could case less if people make fun of SW, but they need to at least know something about it before they do. I frequnetly make fun of it I'm sure, even without knowing, but I also own a ton of "junk", and at least understand the shows.

most of the stuff i hear is how star wars is so unrealistic that it can't even be called
sci-fi and that's just my dad

Usually I'm the one who has to say, "Shut up, it's just a movie." There are so many things in Star Wars that are unrealistic, like sound in space. I don't think Star Wars should be set as Science Fiction, it's more of the Fantasy genre.

I could care less about SW. For me It's all about the mandos, baby!!! The clones, Boba Fett, Jango, and all the othe Mandos that we love. I only watch SW now cause, well I've always "liked" it. I think the games are mediocre at best, but there are a few exceptions. I absolutly loath George Lucas. He really is an idiot. He could at least remember what the names of things he made up and made so much money off of. Jeez he's a dummy.

2 years ago I was watching the Darth Maul fight at school on a pc, a guy sitting next to me said
''Why are you watching Star Trek?''
I said ''this is Star Wars''
he said '' hell no! that is Star Trek!

I said (as a Fett fan) Well okay..its Star Trek, as you wish...

he didn't even know Star Trek I think...

I had to do a report on an artist in my art class, and of course I did Ralph McQuarrie. While I was gathering pictures for my power point in the computer lab I was looking at the Vader vs Luke concept, and some idiot next to me looks at the picture and says, "Why do you like that stuff? Star Trek is gay!" And was so confused by that stupid statement that I didn't know what to say. I hate being called a Trekkie :cry

It's not sci-fi. It's fantasy. One might get away with saying "science fantasy", but I think that's just an un-needed melding of terms. Sci-fi and fantasy occupy different "spaces" in the imagination. The fact that Star Wars takes place "in a galaxy far far away" is neither here nor there. So, when someone says it doesn't qualify as sci-fi all you have to do is smile and say, "I know".
