    Bengal Cat Owners?

My fiance wants to get a Bengal cat for Christmas. If you don't know, this is a man-made hybrid from an Asian Leopard with a domestic cat. We are looking into a couple different breeders, and these things are fierce looking yet adorable.

Anyone here own one or know any details on their care, mannerisms, etc. I'd love to get some knowledge from an experienced owner! I'd also be interested in learning who your breeder is.

I own a few Bengals myself (3). They are definitely more active and have bigger personalities as compared to other domestic cats I've owned in the past.

We actually bought a breeding pair and had a litter a few years ago.

As for their mannerisms, they are very vocal. Always talking with us. They have strange gutteral sounds they use when they're playing...its pretty funny!

Also, they love to play in water... chase the dog and CLIMB things. They climb EVERYWHERE.... even inside my closet and up my Viper Pilot flightsuit... yeah, that was awesome... ugh...

All in all, I think they're GORGEOUS cats and lots of fun to have around. It's interesting because our female is extremely wild... the only person in my house who can hold her is my 11 year old daughter. She follows her around like a puppy. Very odd.

    Re: Bengal Cat Owners?

Thanks for the info! I never have been a cat person, but I was really drawn to their beauty. After reading up on them, their personality made me want one even more. They seem to be a lot of fun, and I am excited to finally own one.

The only thing is they are so darn expensive! With that being said, I would never compromise on the quality of an animal because of price. My family bred Rottweilers and German Shepherds that were sold for thousands of dollars and even shipped to Europe! When it comes to specially bred animals, you definitely get what you pay for. You just need to make sure you know what you're doing when dealing with a breeder.

You should post some pictures of your Bengals if you don't mind. I'd love to see them.

I ahve a bengal cat. It is much bigger than the other 2 cats I have. Oddly enough, it is the friendliest (and shyest). It's very vocal... always meowing, carrying converstation but is very shy to new people in the house. All in all it is a wonderful cat, doesn't destroy anything, and is very unique looking

German or American Rottweilers? I've wanted a German Rottweiler for the last 15 years (I live in an apartment and have 5 cats so now isn't a good time lol) since I had a friend with one who thought she was a lap dog I've done some research since and have wanted one (even thought about breeding) even more since. Sorry to be so off topic

Most of them were German Rottweilers that were bred and then trained by my father-in-law to be police dogs. We then shipped them to Germany. Some of them were shipped here as pups, trained, and then shipped back to Germany.

He also trained dogs for a sort of attack "competition". I don't remember the exact name of the competition, but the dogs run around blinds and find a "bad guy". They then must refrain from biting his padded sleeve and do other things (barking, etc.). The dogs have to be very well trained to release the guy when they get going. Some of his dogs won very prestigious awards, and he was in dog training magazines back in the day.

It really is hard to beat a beautifully bred Rottweiler. They are great animals!

Cool stuff! Kind of funny to send German dogs from the US to Germany lol. Whenever I'm finally in the market I know where to come for advice!

Haha, I always thought it was strange as well. Especially when German dogs would be born in Germany, sent to my father-in-law, trained by him, and then sent back. It just seemed a bit out of place, but he is VERY good at what he does!

Feel free to message me whenever you are looking for a great Rottweiler. We don't breed them anymore, but I have a family friend that is an excellent breeder and uses champion bloodlines. The coloration and health of his Rottweilers is hard to beat. Rottweilers can be tricky because some can develop bone joint problems (especially in the hips). You have to find one with great genetics and care for it properly.

My cousine breeds bengals and all i can say is that Webcheif summed them upp pretty good! They are awesome cats. Very social and not very afraid of kids and can be handled pretty roughly before they say "no".

    *** EDIT ***
    This is their website.. http://www.bengalkatter.se

it's in swedish but if you click around you'll get to see some pictures.

Wow! Those cats are great! Well, my fiance and I decided to go with a new puppy instead of a bengal. This is our new Siberian husky, Bodhi. He is by far the best dog I have ever owned, very loving and VERY intelligent!
