Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated! There are definitely a number of things that could have been improved upon. I certainly agree that the cape was much too small.
Thanks also for your thoughts on the day-for-night. That was particularly difficult, mostly due to factors beyond our control. For instance, the cemetery that we utilized (Forest Hills Cemetery in MA, lovely staff & landscape) did not allow us to shoot at night. So we were dealing with a lot of sun, on a hot summer's day, in a small designated area as the cemetery is still active. I also had no crew (as I filmed the majority of this during my freshmen year and nobody wants to help a freshman :cry) so it was difficult to block light as I was doing pretty much everything (though I did have a
fantastic crew for the studio shoot we did earlier this year).
There is no shot of the sun during that scene, even before the not-so-great color grading. I believe the shot you're refering to is @ 4:17, that large flare is one of many that we added throughout the scene to help sell the night effect. The insertion of the cricket sounds were also meant to serve that purpose.
Anyways, I appreciate that you checked it out! Hope it was at least somewhat entertaining! I got the chance to work with some fantastic artists during this project, the gauntlets and batarangs were custom made by an amazingly talented member of these boards (DangerRuss). And a friend of mine fabricated the cowl, you can check out his work at
Reevz666. Unfortunately the mold broke when we casted a cowl in resin (used in the Batcave scene, when he lifts it off his head). I will be making a new mold soon and if you are interested in a limited run, feel free to shoot me a message
Cheers,
Paul
