Email is the best way to reach him, he sometimes goes awhile without visiting the site. If you email him, he will get back to you usually in a day or 2.

Over the last week or two, he's been in the process of moving houses. Never fear, he'll get back with everyone once he has the chance.

Re: Anyone seen or spoken to Ruffkintoy?

I've been waiting on some stuff from him for a little bit too. The last email i got from on 8/6 him said:

"Sorry for the no response to this email, I just moved into my new place and just got the cable hooked up. I am trying to get everything sorted(can't find anything in the mess)"

I just said thanks for the update and he replied again within about 15 min saying sorry again for the wait.

I emailed him again yesterday for another update, but he hasn't gotten back to me yet.
He's busy, swamped I'm sure, with moving all his stuff and setting up his new place, in addition to the fact he has a good load of orders of items to get sorted.

The dude is busy but hasn't forgotten, just needs some time to get set back up again.

Oh i'm not worried about being ripped off. I know enough about his reputation to not be concerned there. Its just that I ordered the gauntlets in early June, and I'm just more worried about being able to do anything WITH the gauntlets when they do arrive. Winter's not that far off in these parts

I'm in the same boat. He's been telling me since around D*Con that my stuff is done, and he will get them out ASAP. Every other week, he apologizes for the delay and assures me they are going out soon.

About a week and a half ago, I expressed my concerns about not receiving my stuff in time to get it all painted and ready for my Halloween deadline. He replied on Thursday (9/18 ) saying it will go out the next day (9/19) and he will provide a tracking #.

Here I am, a week later, worried as all hell that I won't be able to have my costume ready for Halloween, and I still have not heard back from him with a tracking number. I am only hoping he sent the stuff, but never got around to emailing me the tracking number. I have no way of knowing though.

I've seen firsthand Chuck's work from another member in my area, and he was not the only person to refer me to Chuck for my armor needs.
PLEASE tell me that my anxiety is for naught. People say "just sit tight, the gauntlets and armor will be worth the wait."
I am beginning to think that after 3 months passed the original ETA, maybe it is not worth it, especially if it keeps me from meeting my deadline for Halloween (which would be 4 and a half months after I placed my order).

I know (per what he told me) he's been extremely busy at cons all summer, he did just move and is getting set up again, his dog died, and he took a whack to the head so he's a little off his game, but I am really worried. Maybe I caught him in a bad year??

    Does anybody have Chuck's number?

Re: Anyone seen or spoken to Ruffkintoy?

i had to wait a loooooooooooooong time for my jumpsuit, got numerous excuses and promises unfufilled when told that it was coming...it is inexcuseable to lead people on like this...it is NOT THAT DIFFICULT to drop a line letting someone know what the deal is...DONT TELL someone that their stuff is shipping out and a tracking number will be sent, and then NOT DO IT!!!!!!! im sorry if i offend anyone, break rules, etc...but this kind of thing has got to stop...these vendors refuse to pass on their skills to others so that there can be more people doing these items, and help keep orders from getting backed up...STOP TAKING ORDERS UNTIL PREVIOUS ONES ARE DONE, OR AT LEAST DONT TAKE PAYMENT UNTIL READY TO START ON THE ORDER!! i have Chucks gauntlets, i finally got my jumpsuit, which is another story, and he does good work...but dude, really? how many people are in this postition waiting for their stuff? im sorry, unacceptable...

I'm in your boat too. I'm trying to have my Boba done by mid October. I have been e-mailing him as well but I have not gotten a response since August. I would appreciate it if anyone who has had more recent contact mention my name to him. Thanks.

Re: Anyone seen or spoken to Ruffkintoy?

Just wanted to let everybody know that last week I finally got my gauntlets in the mail!!! I ordered them back in April and I got them in September. Well, he does eventually pull through but if you order from him don't be in a rush. I have to say he has the best gauntlets for the price but for such a cheap set with good quality I guess the trade off is the waiting. I am not saying that when I got the gauntlets they were ready to wear.....they will need some "care" and I have to rework a few parts. So basically to sum it up....

if your in a rush I would not recommend. Yet, if you got some time, I woudl highly recommend them. I hope all of you guys get your stuff soon.

    Cheers!

Re: Anyone seen or spoken to Ruffkintoy?

I originally ordered Gauntlets in April, but ordered the rest of the armor in May. I asked him to hold onto the gauntlets until the armor was done, so he could ship everything all together and save me some shipping costs. I was gracious that he accepted to do so, he wasn't obligated to but it was for my benefit.

So on Wed, 5/21/08 (when I sent payment for the rest of the stuff) he gave me an ETA of 2-4 weeks. I even gave him a full 4 weeks before I bothered him again. I'm still waiting.

He's being doing this for years, so I know he is not about to start 'jacking anybody's money and rip them off. He has good quality items at an attractive and affordable price tag, but the down side seems to be that you have to wait 4 times longer than he tells you it will take.

Not bashing, just expressing my worries. Still would like his number if anybody has it.

Re: Anyone seen or spoken to Ruffkintoy?

Just remember that the artists/vendors here do this in their spare time. Things come up and sometimes that is just part of it. When I've dealt with Chuck he was awesome, good communication and super fast turn around (just a couple of weeks at Christmas time!). Everyone has life issues to deal with. The time frames you guys are talking does seem a little excessive, but really isn't all that uncommon when you are dealing high demand props made by a hobbyist in their own home on their own time. As to the exchange of money, did Chuck ask for it or did you just send it to him? He doesn't seem the type to ask for money in advance knowing full well he won't get around to filling the order for awhile.

I do realize that it's just a part-time hobby on the side, and I did expect it to take a little bit longer, but not this much longer.

I of course did not send money first and demand a time frame.
First I inquired about some parts.
    He replies with the price.
I ask, upon receipt of payment what the ETA is.
    He tells me 2-4 weeks.
Then I send payment and ask for notification that the funds had been received.

Now, maybe this is just how I am looking at it, and tell me if I am wrong....

But, by accepting the payment of ordered goods, you accept the terms of the agreement (unfortunately nothing is signed and it's not quite in writing). If you cannot meet the terms, then do not accept the money.
If sith hits the fan and you need more time, communicate the complications and extension of needed time. Do not wait to be asked. Do not take more orders until all current ones have been fulfilled.
It is better to say, "sorry I can't meet your deadline, and I won't be able to for at least 4 months." than repeated excuses every two weeks, "sorry for the delay; I will get it out next week." over and over for months and months.

If the parts are finished, why have they not been sent yet? That's the last and easiest step in the process. The work has been completed, all you have to do is ship it.
Now, if the stuff really is not done yet, and these are excuses to get more time, than I would demand and expect honesty.

I don't know. Just beginning to think I should have picked up second hand stuff in the CH... I ofcourse would do so now, if I didn't already invest money in the same thing to have no results yet. How late is too late to demand a refund through paypal?

I would have to agree with NEF... Chuck may run behind sometimes, as we all do...even I have been guilty of it....but he gets your product out, bottomline.

He supplied the Nemrod Holster for the Jeremy Project, and even put addtional straps to make the MOW gun to fit because he did fall behind, his way of making up for the time....

And I just spoke with him in email recently, and he responded a few days later.

so I would say no worries guys.

I know that times may be rough for people but I am with Fettdad on this. Reguardless if you are doing this full time or in your spare time you are entering a contract with an individual. Have you heard of people like LadySewForUs falling through? Or Cruzer slow rolling someone? Nope. I say that to all of the people on TDH that you should ask in advance when it will be done and hold them to it. I recently purchased a blaster from a reputable (yet very slow) vendor on here and I am about to request all funds be returned or paypal will be involved. I am NOT venting or critisizing others, I am merely stating that people should be held accountable for their actions. Most of us are every day. I know that it is my profession (Both military and civillian)to hold others accountable and I take the responsibility VERY seriously. I find Karma to be an amazing animal and if you treat people right and do the right thing, then the Lord takes care of you. ITS THE GOLDEN RULE PEOPLE!! LEARN IT, KNOW IT, USE IT!!! I digress.

I waited a while for my gauntlets too. While you can't beat the price, expecting that you can just paint them and have them ready is unrealistic. Mine required significant work to get them to the paint stage. I had to re-build the entire whipcord housing b/c the cast was so thin you could see thru it!!

Take into consideration if you want to reinforce them with FG; whether you want to upgrade the resin parts, i.e. missle, hose connectors, expansion screw, etc. (highly recommended); whether you want to upgrade by adding toggles and lamps, etc.

If you are looking for ready to wear, I would talk to MoW or wait until BM has his gauntlets ready.

    Just my 0.02!

Absolutely. That's why I needed ample time prior to my deadline to make them ready. After expressing my plight, he promised it would get there in time.

A week after he promised to give me a tracking number, he has broken half of it. So I'm just hoping, and keeping my fingers crossed that he DID send it, but simply hasn't gotten to a pc yet to inform me.

    Thanks.

I'm NOT trying to raise a big stink here, but simply try to raise awareness and get other people's feedback to help settle my fears.
I am feeling a bit better about it, though. Thanks to Spidey and n_e_f.

Oh and funny story here. I hope Debbi doesn't mind me sharing this with every one. But she did make a minor boo-boo on my flightsuit. Somehow the shin tool pockets completely slipped her mind. So I got the suit with no pockets. So I asked her about it.
And you know what she did?! She sincerely apologized and said, "here, let me make this right for you." Before the week was up, she send me an envelope with a USPS package to put my flightsuit in. All that I had to do was drop it off at the P.O. Less than 2 weeks later, I had received it again. This time, PERFECT. Shin tool pockets and all. She took care of it, the right way, at no charge to me! She covered all the shipping. And she got it done fast, made sure my problem was the top of her stack of stuff to do.
    Now, THAT is quality service.
I was so pleased, and very impressed that I called her and personally thanked her over the phone. If she didn't live all the way across the country I would shake her hand and give her a big hug.
But to sum it up, NO. She did not fall through. She met, and EXCEEDED my expectations. With flying colors, I might add.

    Anyway, digressing a bit here....

that is not the point, that they do it in their spare time, i think these guys do it full time...but that is not the point...it is the lieing, manipulating, misrepresenting, that is messed up...if this is just spare time, STOP TAKING ORDERS AND FINISH THE ONES YOU HAVE!!! and what happened to communication...if you sell stuff, that needs to be top priority...im sorry chuck, i really wanted to stick up for you, but i see way too many people looking for ya, and not getting their stuff when you say you are going to send it...im sorry, but there is no excuse for not communicating...

Now slow down a bit Darrell. Don't be so quick to tie the noose and hang it around his neck.
From the sounds of his post on the other board, he did hit his head pretty seriously hard. Before that tho, he doesn't have enough excuses to make up for it. However, he did communicate with me after that happened. But not following through with the promise he made, is what I have an issue with.

I just wish he made an update thread on TDH too, tho.

ok, if something happens to a vendor, why do they post on one forum and not the other? havent seen any threads for his customers here? correct me if i am wrong...when lsos is told that his stuff is being shipped the next day, and is still waiting for it a week, 2 weeks later, have someone else go to the post office for you...? its not rocket science to serve your customers...i am making harnesses for people, they have sent me money, and i am busting my butt to make sure i send a quality item to them...pming updates, posting pictures, and letting them know what is going on...THAT IS THE POINT! if i send a harness out, and the customer doesnt like it, i pay for shipping and refund the money...if i cant finish when they expect it, i refund their money...its that simple...if you bite off more than you can chew, then you have to take responsibility for it...you have peoples' hard earned money, and trust...

One of the rules for business/rules for life is to not mess with other peoples money, I'm totally with you there, however you need to take some thing into consideration; when he took on the jobs perhaps he wasn't planning on moving and he sure wasn't planning on getting clocked on the head. Chuck has a very good reputation here and elsewhere he WILL come through. Unforseen things may have set him back but he WILL come through and deliver. I'll give you that his communication could have been better, but I'm sure there is probably a good reason for that too. Just give the guy a little bit of slack/credit. He wouldn't have the rep that he does if this was a regular occurance.

Oh yeah, everybody can agree on that.

Uh huh, I understand that completely. He didn't plan for this to happen.
The post he made on the other forum was 9/21, stating that the previous Sunday, 9/14, was when the incident happened. then I got the email on 9/18 and he told me:
"I'll be getting them out tomorrow for sure. Sorry for the delay in getting back to you but I took a whack to the head sunday so I've been out of it. I'll get you a # tomorrow."
So that was AFTER it happened, but if he told me that the day before he got bonked, i'd forgive him.

In my case, why should I stay patient? Because he's got a great rep?
Yes. I am. But that's near to running out

Agreed, however it doesn't help the current situation. We all know that with communication come forgiveness. We all know he makes great products and that times are rough...BUT, he accepted the responsibility and hasn't been forthcoming with responsible details which I think is the true gripe here. I am not trying to come down on Chuck at all but lets face it, Lies are Lies, no matter how good the intentions are. Chuck, if you read this please don't take this as aimed at you per se. Just that people are awaitng communication at least, not to mention products.

Re: Anyone seen or spoken to Ruffkintoy?

this comes up a lot, and i always say the same thing. but, i'm stuck late at work, so i'll say it again

what you are all saying is not wrong in any sane sense. however, it really just doesn't apply in this hobby, as far as i have seen. we're dealing in unlicensed replicas of props owned by one of the biggest entities in the movie industry. there's not a whole lot of foundation in upstanding business practice there

for better or worse, many of the people selling stuff do not treat this as a business. expect delays. expect poor communication. i'm not saying that this is good, or that i agree with it, but it is a reality. if you get surprised and actually get good service, think of it as a treat.

don't want to wait for stuff? make it yourself. it's really the only way. don't have the time/skill to do that? well, then you're at the mercy of those that do.

it sounds mean / cold / cynical / whatever, but it has been my experience over the time that i've been in this hobby that you'll wait at LEAST 4-5 times as long as the sellers tell you that you'll wait.

let's see... my backplate took 6 months, and i was told 3-4 weeks. my gauntlets were 6-7 months. i've waited 4-5 months for several helmets, 3-4 months for a jet pack... and this is almost all from top notch people. it's just a sad reality.

that's why i've been learning to do the molding/casting stuff, and why i've become close friends with the wizard of flight templates. i'm tired of waiting forever for stuff, so i'm doing it on my own. it's also why i won't do runs of things... i'd treat them just like everyone else. i'd do it when i had the time, if i felt like it.

I'm not trying to argue with you guys so don't take it as that. I'm just trying to give you a little bit of assurance that he will come through for you and do what he can to make it right.

there's alot of that that I was wanting to say but didn't, thanks for saying it for me

I was a middle man for a run a loooong time ago and I will never do it again because guess what life happened, computer died, and things really hit the fan. And this was just before Halloween and I busted my butt and ended up with no profit in the situation trying to make sure everyone got their stuff on time. I guess I kinda know what it's like to be in Chuck's position and have people gripping and you don't have a way to do anything about it. If his last communication with anyone was the 21st maybe there's a reason for it. Just don't judge a guy with a good rep on 1 or 2 bad experiences. If it becomes a theme then yeah, the market will work the way it's supposed to and he won't get any more customers, but I don't see this as a repeat offence so.

It sucks when it happens to you and I feel for you guys I really do. If you have a deadline start looking into alternatives like borrowing from someone if you can or buying a set in the cargo hold and resell either that set or Chucks when you get it. To quote a movie I saw one time or another "There are alternatives to fighting"

Re: Anyone seen or spoken to Ruffkintoy?

Hey Sparda...Sorry for the late post, but Ruffkin told me the same thing. He said I would get a tracking number early a couple weeks ago and as per his useual contacting, nothing. Two weeks went by and then BAM I opened my mail box and there they were! So hopefully they should be there soon.

I was also in your same boat and was thinking about fileing PP disputes against him. But I decided to wait. I think PP gives you 3 months to file (I may be worng, don't quote me on that).

I wish everyone the best of luckwith their gauntlets, and I aplaude the people sticking up for him, I feel like I am too in a way. But things have to change. I am sure the guy is a great person, and I would love to meet up with him one day. But I did need more contact from him. Life happens but again he posted an update on another site and not here. When was the last time he was on here anyways?

I would submit this idea to the Dent.....If it would be approved (I know there are possible legal issues with this and don't want to get anyone into trouble), but a thread of sticky could be formed where people can write reviews on a seller. I hate to say this but Ebay has it right. Buyers have a right to know who they are buying from and if the person is fast or slow or the communication level so people don't freak out when people seem to disappear for a time. I feel if there is a thread or sticky where people can post reviews on sellers, the sellers would be held more responsible about getting this done or at least being in contact with the buyer. They would want good reviews so others will buy from them. This would encourage them to work properly and also if they are booked not take any more orders. It is always fine to say "no", we can't always get stuff from the same person and expect everyone to get there stuff quickly. I feel that this would help sellers and buyers alike. Just putting it out there as a possible resolution to the problem at hand.

    Cheers!

Thanks, hearing that makes me feel better.
I trhink I am past the allowable timeframe to file a dispute through PP so I just hope my stuff gets here soon.

I actaully agree with your idea to have vendor reviews. It would help everybody, sellers and buyers alike.

Re: Anyone seen or spoken to Ruffkintoy?

I told you guys that Chuck would come through. Granted it took longer than it probably should have. I don't think filing with paypal would be needed. If it came down to it I'm sure you could get your money back if you asked.

The idea of having a vender review has been brought up several times before and I agree that it would be a great idea and would be helpful both to the sellers and buyers. The reason it has never happened to this point is that what we do, and the things that are sold are in the grey area of legality. Although it doesn't take long to figure out who people are it does take more than entering a forum and having a list right there in front of you along with contact info for all of them. We operate in the good graces of LFL and George himself and we are thankful for that, but should those good graces ever come to an end we need to be someone less open than that. If there was a good way to do reviews and still keep somewhat how it is now I'm sure we would do it.

I really hope I haven't come off as sounding harsh or TOO demanding... The last thing I want to do is tick of the guy that has $285 of my hard earned money, you know?

But you guys have helped ease my mind about it, at least a little bit.

    Thanks guys.

i believe TDH has a very firm "we aren't involved in your transactions" sort of policy. i know the seller list has come up in the past and been shot down for some reason or another.

Re: Anyone seen or spoken to Ruffkintoy?

I fully agree with TDH not being responsible for sales on here, and they shouldn't. I think people posting reviews of experience with a seller would be ok and would help us all out. I know there is legal issues with selling this stuff, but it's pretty open about who is selling what (look in the cargo hold and in a second you know who is selling what). I am just thinking that it would not discourage sales but would help people with what to expect from the seller. If it says it takes awhile...then they would wait awhile instead of worring. It's just an idea (one that has been posted before). Just though it would help in this case and in others.
    cheers all!!

I'm still waiting here. I think what gets me worried is that I have had absolutely no contact at all. Some of you have gotten an e-mail here and there. Anyway...

I need to have the last parts of my suit done in two weeks so I may be scratchbuilding. I figure maybe I can trade the stuff I make (if its decent enough)... or save it in case of an unforseen damage.

    Thanks for your reassurances guys.

I feel the need to chime in here.. I´ve been waiting on a pair of ROTJ Gauntlets painted and everything. Arrival time should have been the middle of June.
I got a response from him in the middle of August. Then nothing.

I have written to him several times, but I get no replies.

I understand that this is a hobby, but A LOT of people are chiming in here, and aren´t we starting to see a trend? I believe so.

If you can´t get the job done, refund people or at least let them know there is a delay!

Chiming in here too... I placed an order at the beginning of May. Paid when I was asked to, and then given a reasonable wait time.
I knew there would be a significant wait, but I didn't expect and excess of 4 months.

But Chuck was usually very good about responding to emails just touching base... it was worrisome to go a month with no repsonses.

All that being said, I hope he's ok after his injury. It's not something he should take lightly. The back and neck are very delicate things.

I'm just having a hard time dealing with a blackout in comminication... I can be patient, if the person at least takes the time to write back and update. But that's just not happening right now. I think that's what most people are having a hard time with.

Stellardude, that is exactly the thing! I can at least say for myself, I don't mind waiting. The thing is that he is not staying in contact or even updateing us. I wouldn't be worried about him not coming through, he does, but it is just the lack of contact that is the concern. He might have been better about this prior, but now it is causing a problem. I do hope that soon we are seeing more "I got it" posts rather than "where are they posts".
    Cheers All!

P.S. Those who purchased the gauntlets (unfinished, or maybe even finished) there is a lot of work to be done. I have had to trim up, sand down, and reshape a bit every part of the gauntlets, not to mention having to fiberglass the inside.... Just a heads up for you all.

Still ain't gotten my stuff yet, and still no contact from him.

I'm really doubtful that he will be able to come through on his "by Halloween" promise. I've pretty much given up, and said "screw it" to my plans for Halloween this year.
I just don't get why he can email me after he had the head injury just to make a promise, but then after that break it with no response.

Really?! We're quoting "seniority" here now?
Being uncomfortable with a 4 month wait for something that was promised it would take no more than 8 weeks is not "impatience"... nor is feeling upset after being ignored for almost a month when a quick update would suffice.

well not really wanting it now, but after waiting for 4 months, going on 5, it was promised to me in a couple of weeks. I don't feel i'm crying about anything. You know a couple hundred bucks may not be much money to you, but I work hard for it, and also have kids so i gotta plan my way around buying things like this. Like i said i am waiting patiently, and don't appreciate the crybaby thing that you are implying.

This does not seem to me like a "newbie" issue, or an "oldie" issue, it is just "rights" issue.
It seems that everyone here has more than enough patience, and no one here has said any fowl thing, just voiced their COMPLETELY UNDERSTANDABLE concern.

I'm chiming in here again too. Ordered my f-glassed gauntlets in early June (if i remember correctly) and he said i'd have them inside of a month. I've sent emails off to him and usualy got a reply within a week or so. Each time stating something along the lines of "they're done and all I have to do is go to the post office". Still nothing. Been sending emails every 2 weeks for the last month and a half or so and getting pretty much the same mail others have been getting.

I live in an area that's starting to get rather chilly at nights..and my workshop is unheated. If i dont get things soon, i wont have to worry about Halloween as i wont beable to work on anything untill roughly next March.

Hey Penny....whats your problem with "newbies"? Did you not read all the post before you decided to just chime in. There is an issue here and you coming along saying we are a bunch of crybabies is totally uncool. Look I am NOT mad about it taking so long (as I am sure most other people are with me on that), it is the NO response that is making the issue. If you would have read before you would have known that. Also just saying "senior" means NOTHING. It is the people who post regulary and are willing to help out where needed and that are posting updates of real life Fett found items that makes this site what it is. You could be a senior and do nothing but does that give you this upper standard?...NO. Being a senior is a good thing, being a newbie is a good thing. Being a Fett fan is a GREAT thing. Being a family here on TDH is an AMAZING thing. Those are just my two cents.

Sorry if I come off as being harsh but I needed to get it off my chest. But I am crossing my fingers for you all to get your stuff by halloween. Wishing you all the best of luck.
    Cheers!

Re: Anyone seen or spoken to Ruffkintoy?

^that ESB quote made me laugh. And I think he just did, cuz I JUST got an email from him.

"Hey Peter, I'm on my way to ship the stuff now. Sorry about the delay again, A few weeks back I got hit in the head during a high wind storm and have been in a lot of pain. I keep meaning to ship each day but usually wake up with such a severe headache and neck pain I can't seem to function. I'll get you the # when I get back.

    Chuck"

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it can still get here in time for Halloween, with enough time to clean the stuff up and paint and attach it.
THEN I can finally shut my face and quit worrying...

Well I'm in the same boat as you with the blaster, but I'm not even going to start worrying all over again. Whatever happens, happens. We'll see.

And I'll be sure to update you guys on Chuck too, hopefully somebody else has heard from him as well.

totally agree with maruader...implying that people are being crybabys about being lied to is waaaay off base...most of us dont just have a couple of hundred bucks to drop into this...so when we do, it means alot to be updated, contacted, or refunded so we can go somewhere else for our item...in this case, it seems people are being taken advantage of, and that aint right...

PENNYWISE: Let me put this into perspective for you: I work as a Paramedic. That does NOT pay well. I made the choice to get a great Fett. In order to do so, I have to work extra shifts. I have worked 30 extra shifts of 12 hours for some months to be able to pay for it. I´m not complaining about that, my choice.

However, the time lost with my family, friends, not to mention my sanity because I have to deal with sick and dying people all the time, REALLY makes me angry when a guy like Chuck fails to even update me on progress.

    UNCOOL, dude!

any news on Ruffkintoy ? I paid him many many many many months ago for a project and never heard anything back

    tried, email, pm , everything.

Last email I got was promised in August for Dragoncon. Needless to say August came and went without any response. A Simple reply would have satisfied me.

    But now I'm real concerned

No, you didn't scare me off LOL.
I can add the black or gray to them no problem. As for adding the metal parts I'm not sure if you would damage the paint, just depends on how good you are LOL. If you want I can remove the parts for you so you can just add them or I can add them in metal for a little extra(costs of the parts only)

Just let me know what you want me to do. I can get them to you by August if you order shortly.

    Thanks
    Chuck

Sparda I am really hopeing you get your stuff, but you are going to have to put in alot of work to get theses looking good for Halloween. Just a heads up....get a very fine dremel tip. You ask why, well you are going to have to go through every hole on the gaunt rocket and clean out all the left over resin. There is a lot of work to be done on these. I am already thinking about upgrading my gaunt rocket. But hope he does get the tracking number to you. Let us all know.

Re: Anyone seen or spoken to Ruffkintoy?

Whoa! Stop the boat! First off I never meant to imply I'm any better or more entitled than anyone here just because I've been around longer.
I agree 100% that if an artisan here on TDH made an agreement and accepted money and fails to fulfill his or her's obligation it is a load of cr@p, however as already posted it is a sad fact that happens all to often.
This hobbie IS NOT a quick process, especialy if your relying on others to help you.
According to Chucks profile he hasn't even been active on TDH in three months so making an intire post to slam him is rather useless if your trying to motivate him to ship your orders quicker, and actualy border line "flaming" which is a violation of the code of conduct.
I sincerely understand your concerns and frustration, however Chuck is a well respected member here at TDH and to my knowledge has NEVER burned anyone.
The bottom line is he makes a top-notch product for the price and I think it would be hard to find better for the price, which is the pay-off of having to wait.
New members usually don't understand this and end-up getting very upset with this waiting game and in the end it all works out. Will you get it as soon as you had hoped for? Probably not. However he will come through, he always does.

Re: Anyone seen or spoken to Ruffkintoy?

pennywise, i totally agree with you, bud...chuck does have good stuff, that is not the problem...its not even waiting...its NOT KNOWING....the lack of communication when the money has been spent is what is freaking members out...all he has to do is drop a line...what did FettPride do in his decision to back out for awhile...i was not here when that happened, but i knew what happened cause he told everyone....when vendors dont let buyers know what is going on with their money, it is wrong, and i dont care what kind of reputation he may have or any other vendor may have, if you dont communicate, that rep goes you know where!! if you have never been shafted before, you wouldnt understand....yes, chuck has a great rep, i even referred him to someone who is being shafted right now by him...was he reputable when i referred him? yes...does that mean he wont shaft you, obviously not...if it is so difficult to type a little note saying what is going on, you really shouldnt be doing this kind of thing...it is disrespectful, and dishonest...MOW, Bobamaker, GalacticBountyHunter, just to name a few, let people know what is going on...dont tell me you cant just drop a line...dont tell me you cant go to the post office cause of some incident...if my stuff is ready, have someone else take it to the post office...have someone else type up a note here...i recall SpideyFett did that for Taco a few days ago...if i see my hamburger sitting under the heat lamp at mcdonalds, i expect someone to go get it for me if the clerk is taking another order!! it is not rocket science fellas...it is respect and character....

Pennywise... you're absolutely right. This should not have become a thread to bash Chuck. I didn't participate in it for that reason at all. I simply wanted to know if something had happened to him, since he was always very good about sending progress emails. There had been a blackout with that regard for about a month, though.

I heard from him today and he has had some medical issues which have prevented him from being as productive as he would like to be. But he assured me that he works on our backorders as much as physically possible right now, and I got the impression that he has a lot of our stuff done and ready to ship within the week.

In my contact with him today, I simply urged him to keep in contact... even if it's just to inform us of more delays.

Penny,I would like to apologize for my previous post:o. I though you were saying our complaints were uncalled for and that we were just causing a ruckus because of the Newb status. It is MY bad and hope there is no hard feelings. I fully agree with your new post, he does deliver...just not in the most effecient way. I hope this does get better but you have a point...he really isn't an active TDHer anymore. Also I feel that Ruffkin is a good guy, I am not saying he is a slime. He just isn't the best at keeping us in the know and saying something and not following through. I do pray the he heals from his injury as I am sure it is somethign not to be taken lightly.

Again I feel bad, rereading my previous post, and glad things are cleared up.
    Cheers!

So I got my tracking number, sent priority. He said should arrive in 2 days. If so, that gives me enough time to get stuff ready.

And I hope Chuck does not mind me posting this, but in the email he kind of explained things a little, he stated:
"Well the knock in the head sent me into extreme pain for days/weeks as well as having some memory loss for a little while. Mainly short term stuff I had just done or was just thinking about. I'm getting better with everything now though."

Now I can shut up and get to work.

After 6 months of waiting I would hope to hear something back from Chuck. hate to hear something like that happen hope he better.

But I didn't hear anything 4 months prior to that happening. Guess I wait another 2 months and cry again about my 140$, lol

I disagree with the sentiments that this was an "anti-Chuck Ruffkin" thread. It started as a need for information and became a means for others to voice there concerns about artisans not following through on agreements. If you think about it, it served two purposes.
1)Allowed people voice oppinions and vent
2)Taugh less experienced members (like myself) that it may take a long while to obtain parts from people no matter how good the reputation is.

Chuck just happened to be the lead off point that made this possible. I am sorry that he got his name drug through the mud a little but I really think it might have taken this thread to get him moving again. I am pretty sure that more positive things were said about him than negative. He has friends that probably callled him to spur him on after reading this. I don't think that rules were broken even in the slightest. If people can't voice their concerns on here then what good is a site like this. I think this thread actually built Chuck's reputation more.

For all those that posted I say KUDOS and keep it up. As many voices are louder than one...

I heard from Chuck !! yeah

As pointed out the "community coming together speaking as one voice works"

Chuck reputation is still intact and customers are getting a response finally.

So this thread worked as intended.
The ones trying bring drama into this thread shouldn't have trolled

Hey glad to see everyone getting at last a response!!! Now to get those "I got it" posts. I think this thread did serve its purpose and did help people vent, allow others to be aware, and hopefully correct a problem.

Chuck is a good guy and still I would recommend him for gauntlets. I hope no one reading this thread would see Chuck as being sly. I would just recommend that if you need them in a crunch...there are other gauntlets out there, you will just have to pay more for the quickness.
    cheers!

Re: Anyone seen or spoken to Ruffkintoy?

I certainly would not turn people away from Chuck, rather I'd advise them not to order in the Summer months. Cons take a lot of time out of his schedule, so other than those busy months for him, he would still be a top choice to get great pieces at an attractive price.

One thing tho, that Chuck may not have been aware of, since he is using the USPS to ship my stuff, is that you can go on the usps website and schedule a pick up AT YOUR HOUSE. That would have saved him a bunch of trouble, if he was unable to get out of the house.

El1te, your right we are a family. But it seems that he is done with the family. I don't know whats going on with the guy but did he really need to post that!?!?!? It was uncalled for. A family member wouldn't lie to us and pretend like everyhting is Ok when he holds a "issue" towards us. I hope I am not out of line on this but that really got under my skin. I don't know if he was referring to me or to a couple of us or to someone specific but really? Again sorry if I got out of line but that is my bit.
Now lets continue with the ACTUAL discussion at hand.
