and sorry for no . , or ? one big run on sentence

I am assuming you have insurance? The front of her car hit the back of yours. Let the insurance companies fight it out. The fact that she "might" be a cop should be irrelavent. The same rules and laws apply to everybody.

I am very confused. You are going to need to rewrite/clear up some parts.

Also, confirm this lady is a police officer.

Maybe draw a diagram for us or something...

first off, a cop doesn't get paid enough to buy a bmw. second, did you get her badge number? third, did you wait for an on duty officer to arrive at the scene? next, in most states if you were turning illegally you are considered at fault. finally, if neither one of you stayed to make a report to the police it makes any insurance claim difficult. did you trade insurance or any other information with the woman? if you didn't it's just an unreported hit and run and she's out of luck.

and hey, if all your car got was a dent your work on your fett costume has probably given you the skills with fiberglass and bondo to do your own repairs.

this is why you have insurance. report it to them; they will deal with it.

...and yes, police officers do make enough to drive a BMW.

This just goes to show you how much effort they put into those expensive cars now adays... You got a little dent and she got the whole bumper riped off. I guess metal verses plastic LOL. But I think thats kind of wrong of her to flash the fact she is a cop and her husband is an investigator?? what does her husband have to do with anything? I think she is trying to push her police status around. Cops are like anyone else and have to obey the laws as well. They are people and do make mistakes. good luck with it and hope it works out for you. cheers!

This is right up my alley. I do this all day long, but I don't understand the senario yet. I've had lots a training in accident investigation. Can you explain it again and note any signs or traffic devices. Hey Sanit_nasty, in California, cops make more than enough to buy a BMW. I have 545i. (y) Come on now it's California. Most cops I know are making 100k a year.

Any exchange of info? What dept. does she work for, just cause she's a cop doesn't mean anything. no offence to the CDC guys, but they are the first to say they're cops. Do you have a local P.D. or is it a contract city for the Sheriff's Dept. It might be CHP. If she's a cop and she "knows" she's right, why didnt she wait for a report. I know I would.

I've read it several times again. Are there parking spaces along the curb line, parallel to the curb? Your driving along those parked cars towards the intersection. She's the last parked car? right? So is she in the lane of travel, or in a parking space? Cause if she's "punching it," is going to go straight, or turn right, like you did. I know I can come up with an answer, but I need more info.

couple of things: If she's parked, and started into the roadway, hitting you.22106 cvc- unsafe starting. Make sure your right turn is as close to the right curb as practical (22100cvc)

If she's waiting to turn right, and you went around her to turn left, then obviously you'd be at fault. 22107 cvc -unsafe turning movement.

still need more info though

well, montana cops don't make enough for bmw's. and i'm not an officer either. but I have been involved in a few accidents, and from my experience I can offer that advice. hope it works out for you.

Like Jango, I am also a police officer, but here in Arizona (patrol Sergeant), so I deal with this allot as well. And yes, some clarification is needed.

Ultimately, did either of you call the local pd/sheriff to have a report done? What did the two of you do when all was said and done?

A diagram would be useful. We need to know how the street is laned and the positon of your vehicles and any traffic control devices/markings before we can really tell who is at fault.

yes a black and white cam but the lady called him and said it was a hit and run for somereason but i was still there but we traded everything *** needed and the cop even said it looked to be her fault but she was yellin and screaming it was all me i was likw whhhatt

blue =me
silver =her
brown=her friend

Good lord, I feel like I need to run this through babelfish to understand it.
Curtis... take a deep breath, relax, and throw some punctuation in here. Tell us what happened, in coherent sentences, so the cops on the board can help.

Hi! My advice to people is usually this. If you get into an accident, wait (for however long) for the police to arrive and file a police report. Regardless who anyone thinks is at fault, and regardless of who was involved in the accident. If the report has already been filed, go obtain a copy of the report and see if you are in it. If a report has not been filed, check if you are able to file a delayed crash report. Some states allow such reports. Good luck!

insurance fraud maybe? why does she have so many friends hanging out around the area with her? was something wrong with the front of her car to begin with? IE she wants a new front bumper because she hit a poll on her own, so to get insurance to pay for it she needed someone to "hit" her :/

I am with Wolfie on that one. I seems really weird that she woudl have so many friends parked in one place and then of course they would make her look more credible as she had others on her side. Also what was the hit and run thing she said??? CRAZY ladey! Hope it works all out for you. Cheers!

alright. You might not get a police report. Our dept. doesn't write them on non-injury collisions. We just assist on the name exchange. Most people think accident reports are for insurance purposes. We right reports for SWITRS, which keeps stats on types of collisions in the the state. If the insurance company wants to use it, that's fine. They prefer we do their job for them.

let me preface by saying, the following will hold absolutely no weight, I'm not the investgator.
Things to consider if I had investgated the scene:

1) was her vehicle legally parked (curb markings) prior to the crash
2) based on sketch, she was parked prior to the collision, unsafe starting on her part. If she was going to turn right from a parking space, she needs to make sure that cars that are traveling in the designated traffic lane are not going to turn when she pulls out.
3) the placement of damage shows you were well in front of her at the time of the crash, she must not have been looking.

Basically, if she parked before she pulled out, I'd say she's at fault for not yeilding. If she was in that space to turn right, I'd say it's your fault. If she was going to go straight from the parked position, I'd say her fault.
Obviously she was moving at the time of the crash, or it wouldn't have happened. It doesn't take a lot of speed to spin a car if you hit it in the right place. One of our motorcycles struck a lady in a Lexus who pulled out in front of him. That car spun 180 degrees, and he was going 30 mph on an 800 lb motorcycle.most peoples' perception of speed is way off.

Good luck. If you didn't get a report, the insurance will determine fault based on your statements. Be very detailed.
