Band geek here too!

I played bass drum my freshman year, then moved up to snare for sophomore - senior years. I was also section leader those three years :)

Peripheral band geek. Many friends and a few girlfriends in various bands, choirs, and drill teams. I myself haven't had anyone to play with, for the most part -- bagpipes and bass.

I was in Concert band from sixth grade up until around 10th or 11th. I was also in Marching Band for a bit, but it wasn't my cup of tea.

I played drums in a death metal band for about 7 years, and some various other pop and rock bands before, in between and after. All in all for 14 years. Had to quit playing when I got two jobs, wife and kid. :-(

what death metal band?

You probably haven't heard of it. It was called Syndicate and was disbanded in 2004. We only got one album out plus some compilations. All traces on the web are gone, so the CD is all that is left I'm afraid. :(

We got 3 K's in Kerrang! for it though, so we we were a happy bunch of longhaired dudes:)

I marched bass drum in marching band and winter drum corps. Played bells & percussion "toys" in concert band. Won a ton of medals in the process. :) Good times.

I started playing trumpet in a marching band at the age of six, so I've played for 21 years now. I played in several marching bands when I grew up, and at the age of 18 I quit them all to start playing in a symphony orchestra. I also played pop/rock/jazz etc. through my education, from the age of 16 and until now. The best genre for me now is rock with some cool brass sections in it, I love to play that stuff! I would have loved to get to play the song "Jedi Rocks" from ROTJ SE, there's some really nice trumpet stuff in there. The coolest thing I've done while playing is marching band stuff, though, I was in the Sydney 2000 Olympic Band who performed at the opening ceremonies at the olympics in Sydney. 116.000 people in the audience and probably a billion watching on tv. That was an amazing experience! :D
