Any writers around here?

For the past 3 years I have been writing books/novels, stories, and mixed media.

Most of my friends and family (as well as now former coworkers) were aware of this hobby of mine. A large percentage of them have always pushed and driven me to take it to the next level, whether that is a career or not.

I have yet to publish anything I've written, beyond self publishing the books so people I know can actually read the books.

At the moment I have 3 completed books and 1 i am 33% in the process of writing.

Any comics, screen plays, graphic novels, short stories for video, I am not currently interested in publishing, but after a few years of strong encouragement from friends and family, and taking account into my recent job loss in the robotics industry I don't see any good reasons to not use any of my unemployment time to really get something done here.

I'm aware of how to get ISBN numbers, bar codes, register my titles to those numbers, and get everything copy written; I just haven't.

So my question to my family here at The Dented Helmet is: is there anyone with experience in the field than can share anything, or stories of how they got their foot in the door?

Just keeping my options open, I guess I'm a bit modest in the talent I might have in the field. Call it fear of success.

hey i to wanted to write a book i thought would be interesting but i never got fully into it but when i asked a guy in my building about how he got into book writing he told me to check out this site
searchforpublishers.com

i never got to it but maybe it can help you

Another member has recommended Lulu.com which seems to be my best bet right now for hardcover on demand printing. I already have a family source for softcover

There are usually books with addresses of publishers and some have the genre that they go for, so check amazon for publishers or writers guides.

Just blanket everyone, I know there seems to be a tradition of try one, then the other, but that is prolonging your time spent.

Keep positive and don't give up, the more you badger them the better.

Can't say if I am a great writer. But one person on this message board known as the Sniffer seems to tell quite a tale or two! LOL!

I love his stories of heroism.
