Another reason I've being away... ROBOCOP

Well-Known Hunter
Well, I haven’t been active in the last few months, but I’ve being cooking something in the background originally for Dragon*Con 2010, but decided to leave it for the following year. I don’t know if some of you knew, but this is the project I’m working on as we speak…actually I have the suit, only doing some fixings, mods, repainting, and being more ACCURATE to the movie suit,

Here's me wearing a new helmet I got, assembled and painted by me.

And that’s not all, I’m also working to replicate the actual OCP Police HELMET (from ROBOCOP 1 version), to the most intricate detail of it, and currently about 15-20% done on it, working with the person who actually owns the actual MURPHY screen-used helmet on ROBO 1. Adding to that, I will try to replicate the POLICE VEST used in the movies as part of the uniform,

(Disregard the marks on the pics, just details of the process)

The helmet will be completely replicated AS A REAL ONE, except for the padding or harness inside. the PICKET SIGNS will be available then (designed by me based on screen caps) if not wearing the helmet (to be offered sometime soon by the end of this year). Here are some progress pics of my project ongoing,

All I’m planning to do, is to do a BIG GROUP for the Dragon*Con PARADE 2011, me as ROBO, and MAYBE an actual OCP POLICE CAR on the parade as well, but not sure about it yet.

More info about the helmet, vest or project to be posted soon. In the meantime, here's the link for the collection of pics I have so far, and the video of my AUTO-9 customizing (ROBOCOP GUN) to use in public,

Enjoy. ;)

I got a chance this past Saturday to wear my ROBO suit and have my pics taken by a professional photographer.... FOR FREE! :D

Here are some of them (preview before the final shots, photographer has to use some PHOTOSHOP "magic" to clear the pics since theyre too dark, and some things happening on the pics, such as sweat that looks like tears.

First three shots shows something weird about the angle of the face and the helmet... just not right,

I personally, LOVE THIS PHOTO, but notice the "tear" running down along the left side of my face towards the light.... that's actually SWEAT!!!

In this one, I kinda look like "TINYCOP"! ;)

And I like this one as well. Now, look at the other "tear", this time on the lower right side of my face, close to the chin piece.... more SWEAT!

Again, another update on the same topic... I've being working on the OCP POLICE HELMET project and also with the armor vest, and... HELMET IS DONE! (so as the vest, though).

But first, let me explain the last steps… I had to come up with a stencil based from screen grabs and measure to my own helmet. After making sure the size is right, then I cut and bent the PETG plastic with a heat gun.

After cutting, I’ve sanded the edges for a smooth finish. Took the top part of the protective film, and covered with painters tape to make the 1” black border with black satin spray paint.

And here’s the finished helmet. There’s still room for improvements in small areas, but I’ll be fixing those before making a second helmet set, Next time, I’ll use some kind of mold for the visor for a more straight look

Real hockey chin strap, real car fuze, real slide switch, and imitation microphone, which I did with the small diameter aquarium tubing and some thin wire I’ve found around,

IMG_20110829_123605.jpg

The tip of the microphone, all I did was to submerge the tip in silver paint. Note to self: next time, I’ll use ACRYLIC PAINT, instead of the Testors brand enamel.

All I have to add is the padding inside, and add the crossing strap to the chin strap, just to make it look like the one used on military helmets. I hope you like it. If anyone’s interested, I’ll be fixing the molds soon after Dragon*Con, and offer them once I’m happy with the results.
