Altair - Assassin's Creed Costume

Hey fellow mandalorians,

I had initially thought about doing an Altair costume, from the video game Assassin's Creed.

I've looked at the costume, and have been trying to figure out what pieces I could buy outright and what would need to be custom made, so I figured I'd ask you guys for your tips or advice.

Here's what the costume looks like for those of you whom don't have the game. The blade is a hidden blade activated by his pinky finger via a ring method.














Where do you guys think I should start, and if so whom...would I contact?

maybe you could try Debbi @ ladysewforus. she is quite talented when it comes to doing soft parts. I bet she could do the Tunic, hood and pants for you. and you could also try 99centtaco for the belt. hope this helps.

Does anyone have an idea where I could go to get custom sword/blades made?

I'll probably have to get boots custom made as well.

You probably wouldn't need a custom sword. There's probably a website that carries historical swords that are similar in appearance. the hand guard kind of reminds me of a Scottish claymore.

He has different swords in the game, so there should be a couple to choose from.

ahh, i was waiting for someone to start on this, beat the game not too long ago, and i must say...one of the best games ive ever played in my life...

i can NOT wait to see a finished costume of this...i might start one if im inspired

The last pic looks like Tatooine.

I've been looking for swords and daggers that are similar to the one Altair has, I'd appreciate if you guys have seen any that look similar, if you could please give me a link to it!

I've found by searching, a crusader's thrusting sword seems to fit the part best, they are easy to find via google.

I also found something that could be useful, a medieval belt http://www.mwart.com/xq/ASP.product/...ieval-belt.htm
now obviously upon looking at the above link you'll see it's a leather belt with buckles, obviously in the game Altair has a sash, but for costume purposes you could do the belt then wrap a sash over it for the look but you'll know your sword of choice will be secure so that you won't need to re-adjust constantly.

I'm curious to see what you folks find as far as costume designs/designers or otherwise. I think this is a great costume and also see a large market for something like this at events such as the Renaissance fairs and what not.

i'll try to keep up with the forum unfortunately i have a hectic schedule and a busy mind but if someone wouldn't mind emailing me with worth while updates I'd be grateful.

I'm actually doing this costume as well I havent got much done aside from picking out the fabric, leather, and making the gloves but I'd be happy to talk about it if you want to send me a PM.

Taco is doing all the leather parts for my costume and I think it's gonna be rather fun to see it all together

what's link doing in an altair costume? that looks really good. it just needs some more... haze? i dunno, i havn't played the game but all the pics i've seen look like they're somewhere in the middle east, so some sand dirt would really make the costume.

Wow, that costume came out great! Shouldn't you me scaling buildings in seconds with only your bare hands now that it's a complete costume?

Thanks, I actually did give it a good spraying of sand colored spray and used charcoals and sandpaper to roughen it. It just sucks because you cant really see it in pictures. The white just shines through. I might make it even more dirty, but it is already pretty sandy, just hard to see.

Museum Replicas is selling the entire costume now, but it's ridiculously expensive!
