General Zedaine's Boba Fett Costume (Nearly Complete)

Zedaine

New Hunter
Hello everyone from The Dented Helmet. I believe this is my first post so I will start things off by showcasing my Boba Fett costume that I have been working on for the last 2 years. I've worn it to Salt Lake Comic Con twice and have gotten great feedback from a lot of people.

Link to Gallery: Zedaine's Boba Fett Cosplay - Album on Imgur

I am attempting to get approved with the 501st Legion's Alpine Garrison in Utah so any and all feedback is appreciated!

There are two things missing on the costume, which is the sidearm holster and kidney plate. I have obtained a kidney plate and the holster is on its way from Germany! Other than that, I feel like I should be able to get approved.

Here is a list from memory where I got the kit:

The armor and helmet were from Sith Planet.

The Flak Jacket, Gloves, Neck Seal, and JetPack were all from Man of War Studios.

The gauntlets are from your own member "boba trooper".

Various random items were from TK409.

Blaster was bought from Molan Labe Studios and I plan on eventually purchasing the ESB version of the blaster from him in the future (I like the ROTJ version better and it is cheaper).

The rest of the items were from various sellers on ebay that I can't remember.

Thanks again!

I have also uploaded some images of things that I have worked on since the pictures in the gallery were taken:

hello from your neighbors up north in Timberline Garrison, I'm the GML up here and the only active Boba (and Jango) in our garrison. You're looking real sharp in those photos, but there are a few things that I'd like to mention. First, I say this about nearly every Boba, you need to get dirtier! Your soft armor looks too clean. Second, your flightsuit looks more ROTJ than ESB, it doesn't seem to have the right amount of blue. Third, ESB Fett doesn't have spats, just ankle ties. Finally, since blasters are "optional," if you don't have an ESB blaster by the time everything else is finished and you're ready to send in submission pics, don't include the ROTJ blaster in your pics. That's what I see going on in your photos, but like I said before, you're off to a real good start. Good luck with the rest of your build.

I agree with Mike. It seems like you're mixing some ESB and ROTJ elements. That being said, your costume looks great. The gallery photos are incredible! You chose the perfect location and your poses are awesome! Good luck with your 501st application. I'll be submitting mine near the end of October.

Those are some great photos man!

I agree with what has been said above - it does look like a slight mix of ROTJ with the suit, spats...and I would also take another look at your hip pouches as they don't look ESB blue. Does the MOW flak vest close at the sides? I think his new ones do. You will want a vest that closes at the back. Last, find a way to hide your cable for your chest lights. I put a pocket on the inside of the vest and threaded the cable through a hole behind the lights.

You're doing well! Keep it up :)

Amazing photos! Don't have that environment where I'm from. I agree with what's been said already the color doesn't look blue enough. But your more than on your way. Good luck....

Awesome! Thanks for all the helpful feedback. Sounds like I'll be having to do a little more coloring work. I mostly went with the Black Series figure on style, because I thought it all looked the best (the reason for the spats). But if the 501st doesn't follow official figures, then I guess I'll have to stick to the movies. Looks like I'll also be purchasing an ESB EE-3 kit here shortly as well.

How well does fabric spray paint work? I could get some black and brown for weathering, and maybe light blue and see what that does to the jumpsuit. I definitely need to match the hip pouches with the jumpsuit more, so hopefully fabric spray paint would work well for that? I used normal black spray paint on the jumpsuit before, but was really careful, because too much weathering might look worse than not enough... and it would be very difficult to fix after that.

Any advice for methods on fixing what I already have would be great.

Thanks again!

For information on what is accepted in the 501st, check out their costume reference library. For ESB Fett click here: 501st Legion: Vader's Fist

In order for the pouches and the flightsuit to be the same colour, I would recommend that you dye the pouches and the flightsuit together to achieve the same consistency in colour. The exact colour of dye is on here somewhere...not sure what it is, maybe someone can chime in. Then go back and do your weathering.

looking great! like BC said, the location is fantastic! i don't need to echo everyone else as much has already been addressed however, I'm counting 15 kill stripes on your bucket. 501st approval for ESB calls for only 14. also, if you are looking for an exceptionally clean and accurate ESB EE3 kit, check out Stormrider (ICONIC). best EE3s around in my opinion. super fast turnaround if you need one quickly.

Alright, here is a small update. I've mostly been working on the jumpsuit, since that needed a bit more blue and weathering... I thought I went a little overboard, but it looks great in pictures! Plus, a lot of it is spray paint, so it will fade and wear off a little over time... guess the weathering needs to be weathered ;)
Let me know what you all think! Here is a picture from a small event at a University where I thought it looked really good.

We let students come up one by one or in groups to take selfies or whatever kind of picture they wanted with us. Good times! This was at Dixie State University in Southern Utah with the Beggar's Canyon Squad (Southern Utah) that is part of the Alpine Garrison (Mostly Northern Utah).
