I wonder if this would be a good girth belt for ROTJ? It seems cheaper than all of the other places online that I've seen, and it looks to be about right. Here's the link for others interested.

It looks like the right style, but you need to get one made from 100% wool mohair, if you plan on dying it. The rayon/wool blend will not accept the fabric dye.
Gator
hmm.. got no idea what myn was, I painted it with spray cans, kind of absorbs the colours...
Being that its mostly Rayon, I don't believe it will dye. You'll need to spray paint it.
I bought one of these a while back. I'll try dying it today & let you all know
Don't bother. I got one, and the dye barely took.![]()
Too late, I'm doing it as I type.Originally Posted by Arn-Ma Brlou
Apparently the rayon /wool one I ordered is actually wool.
either that or I actually did it right
That baby sucked up dye faster than well... something that sucks up dye really well.
here's some pics after a 20 minute soak in
2 gals water
1 Bottle Rit Dark Brown
1/2 Bottle Rit Wine
2 cups table salt (as per directions for dying rayon)
It's obviously too brown (it's still wet too)
I'm using Rit dye remover right now on it.
keep you posted
Here it is after the Rit color remover (but before it gets dyed in the Rit Scarlet)
here we go.
10 minutes on the stove (all of this was on the stove)in
2 gals water
1 cup of table salt
and here's one with my girth hanging over the computer monitor showing a pic of the M.O.M. reference.
Yeah I know how Nerdy I am.
looks AWSOME
It sure does! Lucky You! Grumble grumble...Originally Posted by Jangobobbafett

Looks perfect!
That looks great! I believe I will try it myself... and if I screw up I'll just get another one![]()
I think I'll buy a couple more, dye them, sell them to those that are "pigmentally challenged", & make a small fortune.Originally Posted by Icedevil

Has anyone tried:
2 gallons of water
1/2 bottle Rit Dark Brown
1/2 bottle Rit Wine
1 bottle Rit Scarlet
2 cups salt
???
Just seems that a whole bottle of brown introduces TOO much brown into the mix, and the wine is too "purpley". Cutting back on them, and increasing the scarlet should up the red content while still retaining the others, just in lesser amounts (they're still present in the mix, just not so "in your face").
Just thinking out loud, mostly.
NIGHT OF THE LIVING THREAD!!
That came along nicely! Good color match
