WOO! got a "real-ish" webley stock, bracket, and Grip!

Someone had one on e-bay and i messaged him and made a deal! im so stoked its crazy! I never thought id find this all together. When i messaged him, i only asked for the bracket and grip. Not sure if he's just gonna give me the whole thing or not, but either way, im stoked!

EDIT: Apparently this is a replica, but hey, thats ok. Still a good price for a real brass grip, metal bracket and a stock that looks pretty good to me.

Did he say what kind of wood it is? Kind of looks like walnut or cherry. Not oak.

No he didnt. I actually am not getting the wood. (that sounds wrong lol) Just the bracket and the grip. Thats what i e-mailed him for and he agreed so i just took what i could get. He said the shipping would be more with the actual wood stock.

    I'm 99.9% sure that's a replica.
The bevel on the wood where it meets the inner part of the bracket isn't right. The upper bracket is a little off. If you have bigger pics you'll probably see that the pattern on the grip is off. The cross-hatch pattern is cut into the brass (instead of being cast like a real one) and the lines end up overcutting into the smooth sections.
I can't remember where they were made. Singapore maybe?
I bought mine off a replica gun sign many years ago. I sold the bracket and grip here.
I kept the wood stock and reshaped it to match my real Webley. I'm attaching the greeblies to the replica stock so I don't damage the original wood.

Numrich Gun Parts Corp. still has them listed on their website too:
Numrich Gun Parts Corp. - The World's Largest Supplier of Firearms Parts and Accessories
    $148.50
It doesn't say "replica" on the site, but the pic is definitely of a replica.

Don't rain on my parade! lol

I'll have to look into it further once i get it. Either way its better than the resin parts i have now.

It doesnt look like those to me that you linked too. Those look obviously off to me.

I have a bigger pic, the crosshatch doesnt go onto the smooth part at all. Its not a super sharp picture though, so i guess we'll see when i get it. It also has a "5" stamped on the back....and if its a replica, so what, its still better than the resin parts..i mean my blaster is resin so no big deal.

Re: WOO! got a real webley stock bracket and Grip!

From what i can tell, mine looks just like this one on the gunboards...and they seem to think his is authentic. The wood is cut the same as this one. As for the crosshatching on the grip, i'll have to wait till i get mine to be 100% sure of how it looks. Mine also has the 5 on the back, but i guess that could have been added in the replica as well.

From the pic in your first post DVH it looks like the crosshatching is not cast in very nicely like the one you just posted guess we have to wait and see when you get it...either way still a nice pick up if you got it for a nice price.

Re: WOO! got a real webley stock bracket and Grip!

Yea it was $120 with the shipping which isnt bad either way. But i really need to see it in person to make an assessment on it when it comes to the crosshatching. That last link i posted has VERY good pics, the ones he posted were good, but not THAT good. But the stock angle cut looks the same, and the bracket looks the same. But, we shall see.

Re: WOO! got a real webley stock bracket and Grip!

That last link i posted was from the gunboards...so no, didnt get that one, the one i got was the one pictured on top, that i got from e-bay. You could hover over the pics to make them bigger than what i posted, when it was on the site, but still not clear enough to distinguish crosshatching for sure till i get it. It does look rather clean, but it could have been polished. But like was said, either way, im happy with this. Its better than the resin parts and makes my blaster that much more real looking. I like that the stock has the screw catches visable. My woodman stock obviously doesnt have that. Whether its 100% authentic vintage or not, still looks better than what i got! Plus the metal bracket will sturdy up the blaster alot.

dont know if it authentic or not, but it looks bloody good to me, and i agree it is better than a resin d-bracket, between my two blasters, one has metal and the other resin with i dont like the resin, but it is a true copy, i think you are winning any how!

The one on the gunboards is a replica for sure.
You can see the crosshatching in the smooth areas and the other tells.

$120 is a good price though considering the replicas are going for about $150 these days.
I've seen real stocks listed for $250 recently.

Didn't want to rain on your parade. I just wanted to make sure you knew what you were getting and didn't get ripped off.
It's a good price and better than resin!

Wow that is an obvious difference. I wonder how they could say on the gunboards, of all places, that the one he had was authentic. Interesting.

Well either way, better than resin!

Yes, unfortunately this has long been the case. I tried to buy on from them once. I then tried to buy one from the company in India that actually makes them but they only sell in bulk so that was a no go either.

You'll also need to consider UK Firearms laws and importation laws. As this item would invariably fall under the Firearms act 1968 as a section 1 firearm despite the fact that it is only a stock you might have difficulty here too e.g in the UK being in possession of part of a section 1 firearm (such as the stock) would be an offence.

Not to Sweden though, fortunately. Here it would be seen as a stock, and nothing more. Only the weapon itself, or vital parts of it are under license restrictions (this unfortunately for me includes deactivated arms).

    Thanks for this shot Chris.

Between this and the resin copy of a real one i currently have, i should be able to tell in 2 seconds if this thing is Authentic or not. It is hard to see in the pic, but im leaning towards a replica as well.

In my pic in the first post it kind of resembles the illusion you see on the replica grip in Lonepigeon's comparison pics here if you dont enlarge it. Hence why im leaning towards replica.

It is for ESB...i dunno if i want to do that to it. Assuming its a replica it wouldnt be the end of the world...i didnt do it on my woodman stock, not sure if i wanna do it to this one.

It should have been here Tuesday, but the post office messed up and shipped it to the wrong post office...so know im waiting for it to get back here..ugh.

I can explain that one, it's due to US State Dept ITAR regulations, which stands for International Traffic Arms Regulations (ITAR), I only know this because I am involved with competitive pistol shooting up here in Canada, and I routinely order gun parts from a US company called Brownells.

All gun parts being EXPORTED out of the US have to be under $100, and come from a list of Registered Factories, I don't know why it's $100, but it is.

Re: WOO! got a "real-ish" webley stock, bracket, and Grip!

I JUST got it yesterday! It was sent back to the seller for no reason...but i have it now. From California to NY, an hour away from me, and back to California...just to be sent back to me in NY. This thing travels more than i do! lol. It is 100%, unfortunately, a replica. the wood looked like it was painted rather than stained so i re-did it. It does make my blaster look nice though, and gives it a more real feel due to the weight. I have it hanging over my desk

I done a firearms repair course in the early 80s , import law on replica or antique is not a problem but on de-activated has to go through gun shop for certificates

Thats pretty cool man. It is pretty nice, and really makes a difference. Wish it was authentic, but hey, its one step up from resin! I think you'll like it!

lol. I agree. it does erk me that the cross hatching on the grip goes over the diamond and out of some of the edges, but eh..one day mebbe ill find an authentic grip at least.

For those that dont know, this is Stormriders awesome EE-3 kit. the breech discs are from Sidewinder, the molex connectors, AM plugs, Scope rings, and scope are all real deal items. Flash tube is a heiland..hopin to get an MPP one day.

The grip from the Webley Mk VI revolver shares the same dimensions and would make a great substitute. It would be made of dark bakerlite and so would have to ne painted gold and weathered but that wouldn't be too hard to achieve and the cross hatching would be molded lumps and bumps rather than scored. They come up from time to time on the auction site. One on there now but it is the wrong side and broken. Alternatively replica Mk IV. grips are easy to obtain from all sorts of suppliers.

Yea some of the revolver ones are the same, but if i have to paint it theres no point ya know? ..i could just keep the painted resin one, or get sidewinders cold cast one(which looks really really nice BTW) I wanted a real one specifically because its actually brass I have one from Hand-schaub thats bronze cast, and correct. its really nice, but i like the correct brass better than the bronze.
