WIP: SEMPER FETT!

AMBrown

Hunter
Well hi there all you incredible Fettastic people!

So I already have a WIP thread, but it is really outdated and I didnt really like how it was set up...so I am starting over. So a little about me...I am a Marine, stationed in San Diego, Im 24...obviously a huge Star Wars fan! Im married, and a big plus, my wife supports my projects (I am also doing a Star Wars costume for her, WIP thread for that willing be coming in the next couple months). So, since military doesnt make a whole lot of money, this will be a long project, so the thread will be a little slow in progressing...but here we gooooo!

I ordered a lot of stuff while I was in Afghanistan making some tax free bank, and here is a list of everything I have so far:

And a VERY special thanks to Booboofett and Asok, for being so kind and helpful to a poor Marine, you gentleman, are truly spectacular!

Also, a special thanks to my amazing wifey, for christmas she went all out and got me a fully articulated mannequin! We call him Manny:

Okay, starting with the first things I worked on... Stormriders AMAZING blaster kits!

EE-3:
IMG_5628.JPGIMG_5627.JPGIMG_5629.JPGIMG_5647.JPGIMG_5648.JPGIMG_5644.JPGIMG_5658.JPGIMG_5654.JPG

Here we have the buttstock, beautifully made by Woodman, did about six or seven coats of minwax cherry stain, first few I let sit, then the last few I brushed and wiped. I followed that with minwax dark walnut, five coats of brush and wipe.

IMG_5646.JPGIMG_5645.JPG

Here is the grip section... the kit is so amazing I spent about thirty minutes with a razor and dremel cleaning some stuff up, filled a few tiny bubbles with loctite repair putty, and it all slid together like magic!

IMG_5651.JPGIMG_5625.JPGIMG_5626.JPG

Here are the scope rings and such, just cleaned up and painted...

IMG_5703.JPGIMG_5705.JPGIMG_5704.JPGIMG_5706.JPGIMG_5649.JPG

Here is the scope, got it from championschoice.com for like $6. Its a little short, but it looks pretty close, and I am happy with it! Attached it with rare earth magnets (I like everything to come apart...easy to repaint, repair, replace, upgrade, etc.)

IMG_5650.JPGIMG_5652.JPGIMG_5657.JPGIMG_5643.JPGIMG_5656.JPGIMG_5655.JPG

The barrel! # cell heiland, tried to weather it to look as much like the ref pictures as I could...I am happy with how it turned it. I used sandpaper, and then sprayed it with a little bit of paint.

CIMG1191.JPG

THE FINISHED PRODUCT! Looks great with that sling by Booboofett, yeah? The whole thing is spray painted with krylon oil rubbed bronze, taking it from flat black to just that bare metal look, and accented it with a little bit of silver model paint for wear, pretty happy with the result!

Next up is Stormriders sidearm kit, also freaking amazing!

IMG_5639.JPG

This is what I came out with first...definitely over weathered it...re-primed, started from scratch.

IMG_5766.JPGIMG_5770.JPG

Filled the bottom with loctite repair putty...and there MAY be a rubber glove stuffed in there too...Hey! Its light weight filler!

CIMG1187.JPG

And here is the new finished product, sprayed in krylon ruddy brown primer, and a satin clearcoat. I am really happy with how the tip turned out, even though it was an accident! I tried to dab a big run off the tip and started to get that black to show through a bit, so I dabbed the whole thing, and thats how it turned out! I will probably do the same to the rest of the barrel, and add a little bit more weather on the handle. But I think its pretty close to what the few ref pics show!

Did a little bit of RKDs armor, great stuff, great price, I would HIGHLY recommend it to any Fett on a budget, or really any Fett at all, its real quality stuff!

IMG_5664.JPG

Here is how it looks after about ten minutes of clean up, a little razor, and a semi-fine rasp, then a little bit of fine grit paper on a block.

IMG_5668.JPGIMG_5671.JPG

Here it is sprayed down with silver...

IMG_5672.JPGIMG_5673.JPG

Then the line marker yellow

IMG_5678.JPG

Then the green!

IMG_5680.JPGIMG_5676.JPG

Finished it up by rubbing the toothpaste off, a light dusting of flat black, a darker color green, and then a matte clearcoat!

IMG_6147.JPGCIMG1168.JPGCIMG1188.JPG

Collar armor, same process of paint as the groin and butt armor

IMG_5702.JPGIMG_5768.JPGCIMG1169.JPG

Here are the shoulder studs, made by bobamaker. Painted them silver at first, then looked at a lot of different pictures for a very long time, and decided they should be white instead, so I started painting them white!

And here we have my MoW boots, one of his newest run, sized 9.5

IMG_5794.JPG

Here they are fresh out the box, chillin with mojo-fetts aluminum toe spikes

IMG_6020.JPG

Painted grey...

IMG_6021.JPG

Black added...

IMG_6027.JPG
IMG_6025.JPG

Added the sole seems and some weathering

IMG_6031.JPG

And here they are all weathered up and spikes attached!

IMG_5669.JPG

here are my UT pouches from cucblack, they are made well, and for a good price, although when lsfu gets to making my flightsuit, I will also be upgrading to her more accurate pouches. Weathered with just a little misting of flat black

IMG_5660.JPGIMG_5661.JPG

here are my shin tools...not the most accurate, not a ridiculously nice set, but good enough for now!

Awesome re-build so far! My only concern is regarding the shin tools, which are not accurate, because these are made to replicate the Star Wars Visual Dictionary tools and not the real shin tools:

The tube's measurements are approximated and for the ESB suit you should use the lower half measurements:

Thanks Rafal,
Those are, of course, just a starter set, I got them all for about $20, I do plan on getting a squeegee and stirrer. But its still helpful, thanks!

Here is an update on my helmet work:

IMG_5620.JPGIMG_5622.JPGIMG_5790.JPG

Here it is, out of the box, trimmed, buffed...

IMG_5786.JPGIMG_5802.JPGIMG_5804.JPGIMG_5803.JPG

I attached the earcap with rare earth magnets

IMG_5799.JPGIMG_5809.JPGIMG_5810.JPGIMG_5811.JPGIMG_5787.JPGCIMG1170.JPGIMG_5788.JPGIMG_5793.JPGCIMG1165.JPGCIMG1164.JPG

And the rangefinder, pretty self explanatory, I think. Salamanderking lights, great kit!

IMG_5796.JPGIMG_5797.JPGIMG_6030.JPGCIMG1167.JPG

Cut and mounted the visor

IMG_6029.JPG
