Search search search, all of this is covered somewhere here in one thread or another...As far as Spideys colors theyre ESB Sorry didnt think about it...US medium Green is about the Standard color most use...its a floquil color though and theyre getting rid of floquild from testors line up. I dont like US Med for ROTJ because the ROTJ is not the same color as ESB as we know ROTJ is ESB repainted...so we can visually see that its different in color.

Yeah, I have been looking, and searching.... That is the problem with this site. So many dang threads. As for the gauntlets, ROTJ and SE are pretty dang hard to find. As for the armor color, US medium green is not quite right for ROTJ unless I use my airbrush and either mix, or mist/blend. I cannot get the gauntlets on while they are closed, so I am going to attempt the hinge technique, and try to blend them in with a few paint techniques. I attempted to make my own light kit and burned up a few LED's. Looks like I forgot the resistors... lol.

Well, I got some work done on the gauntlets. Three layers of Fiberglass, hinges (ease of use), some filler.... Magnet idea got canned after I realized they were too bulky and I disliked their style.

Well, the gauntlets are all really clean right now, and I am ready to paint. Anyone have a really good set of ROTJ reference pics? Oh! My GMH arrived today (thanks ASOK)! I hope my Airbrush skills pull through

Everybody uses either the real suit exhibit pics from Magic of Myth (also seen at Star Wars the Exhibition) or Art of Star Wars (also seen at Celebration 4). They are two different ROTJ costumes, so pick one exhibit and stick with it for your painting. I followed M.O.M. for my own.

And my first mistake is fixed. I put the hinge on the flamethrower side of the left gaunt. Epic fail, and the gaunt could barely open. Switched sides and filled/sanded the old holes... "Squadron Products" White Putty (for model building) is a lifesaver! Very durable, and only takes 30 minutes to dry! Time to wash and hopefully apply the first layer of paint!

All those pics can be clicked on and made super big, so you can really get nice close shots of the detail painting. It takes a long time to make a nice Boba paint job, but the end result is worth it if you don't rush it.

I have been checking them out. Awesome pics! I agree, the more methodical the paint, the better the end result! I am going to attempt the layered technique here. I have everything painted silver, and I am going to finish assembling them tomorrow (I hope, assuming my electrical work holds!), maskoling them, and painting the reddish color.

I used the M.O.M. pics on my own suit. They did the layered look on the green of the armor, but went straight from silver to green, and then brush painted the Catwhisker Yellow around the bigger dings. I know some Boba's choose to layer all 3, but in actuality, LFL only layered 2, and hand painted on the middle layer of the yellow.

Well, just thought I would update you guys on my MOW gaunts. All silver and assembled (minus the missile, darts, hose, and MQ1 keypad. I also will have to wire up my LEDs and put my switches in once I am all painted up.)

Looking forward to the LED portion of the gauntlets. Don't really know where they go/where to get them from, so I'll be paying close attention!

Well, the one red LED on the left gaunt has been really hard to find. I found a 120v one that has the right shape, and a flat 12v one. I will probably cut out the 120v lens and put it on top of the 12v one to get the proper shape. The momentary switches will turn on LED's in the flamethrowers (I know, not screen accurate). On the right gaunt I will have a micro switch control a flashlight above the darts (again, not screen accurate), but none of these will be obvious, so I can do what I want Most of my parts have been available at radio shack. You will also need resistors to protect your LEDs. Just do quick searches on the net and you will figure out what ones you need for each voltage...

I forgot to mention that I know squat about wiring things up. Haha if there are kits available somewhere i'd be interested. Otherwise I think I'd have to rig up my own idiot proof concoction.

Here is a simple video to help. The hardest part for me was calculating which resistor to use. You just have to search that and use the equation.

Well, Here is an update. The right gauntlet is practically finished. I just have to trim up the glue I used for the switches (Do not use gorilla glue on such small pieces. It expands waaay too much), and touch up some paint. The top of the gaunt I used pictures from MOM. On the underside, I followed the pics for most of the large damage, then got creative on a bunch of the little stuff, so it is not 100% accurate..... Still looks good though!

Anyone have advice about clear coating this? I have Humbrol Matte Coat, and I was wondering if it would be advisable to use it and "seal in" the paint job....

Should be fine. I used Testors Dullcote spray on all my armor parts.

I did a couple coats of Minwax Polyurethane clear on my armor and gauntlets for scratch and chip protection, and a topcoat of Testors Dullcote to kill any gloss or shine. It is as tough as nails!

Well, got the left gaunt assembled and the LEDs/Momentary switches working. I then painted it. It came out a bit too purple, but I removed the masking anyways and tried to weather it..... Ruined that paint attempt! ****. Retry in the morning, assuming I have enough Wine paint.

Update. I did not have enough Wine paint. Repainted it silver and left it. Had to come to Hawaii on detachment. I love Hawaii, and I love getting paid extra to go there, but not being able to finish my gaunts or start my helmet is driving me nuts! I have been here a week and all I want is to get home and get to work! (My fettronics chestboard came in, as well as all my paint, and a thermal detonator just for fun)....

Where did you get your TD? I was thinking about just grabbing one of those hot potato games and repainting it. It would be cheaper Plus, it already has light and sound.
