    WIP: First Boba Build

These are a couple of up-to-the-moment pictures of my first Boba build. I bought most of my base parts from Boklast's Tobbi Dala sale. Then I added many other things here and there (swapped/sold the dentless armor for the FP dented version, etc.).
I'm hustling on this build. I had a six-week deadline. To make it more challenging, I'm trying to incorporate many prestige-builder tips (grommets/eyelets for fastening the armor, etc.).
This is also my first time painting anything like this (and my first time ever using an airbrush). So, considering all the "firsts" and the rush, I'm not completely disappointed.
I have taken dozens (hundreds?) of pictures along the way, and I intend to post a complete build thread. I don't have the time now.
I still have to paint and weather the greeblies (and other undone things, which I'm sure you'll all see).
I used the AOSW and ROTJ SE reference pics as guides, and I relied heavily on the paint up tutorials (slave1pilot, rafalfett, et al). Masking/taping the jetpack has been the b_ _ch of the build so far.
I am now going to attempt an ESB helmet paint up in six days. Wish me luck.img_1082-jpgimg_1100-jpg

From what I see in your images, I can tell that your paint is excellent, very detailed and it looks professional. The armor looks clean (or perfect) and the jetpack is awesome. I'm eagerly awaiting to see all your images and good luck on the ESB helmet painting!

Thanks for all the compliments, guys. I really appreciate it.
I've been wavering for the past 12 hours on the helmet paint job. I changed my mind at 3:00 a.m. and decided to do the ROTJ scheme (mainly because it's an easier paint job). However, I can't locate the few other paints I need. So, ESB it is...and I start NOW.

Not much luck with the ESB helmet. Had to sand and start over. Going with the ROTJ bucket now. I have begun layering using stencils, but I notice on the reference pictures, the ROTJ helmet paint is more "worn" than torn. The bright silver is torn...but most of the other colors are worn through. I'm going to try a new technique. Wish me luck.

    Re: WIP: First Boba Build

The ROTJ/Pre-Pro#2/Sandy helmets are kind of hard to replicate, because of the complexity of the paint scheme used. As others had mentioned here, after the base silver is applied, in some areas (that will be visible later) some dark gray patches are misted then you mask those areas using the stencils. But for more help just ask superjedi (Pre-Pro #2), BGHunter (Pre-Pro #2) or AFettFullofDollars (ROTJ), because they did some awesome helmets lately.

Thanks, Rafal. I finished it after a couple of very long days (working until 5:00 a.m.). Attached is a quick side shot.imageuploadedbytapatalk1319873848-915958-jpg
The iPhone camera did some warping, so it looks like I have a gigantic rangefinder!

From the image you posted I can tell that you are on the right track. I love that you did those 'paint mistakes' on the right cheek, it looks very accurate. I'm curious to see the rest of the helmet. Very good work so far!

    Here are all four sides.
I have dental file greeblies and an authentic MQ-1 circuit board as well.
As usual, the indoor lighting does some weird things with colors.

    Re: WIP: First Boba Build

Awesome paint job! You really nailed it, but while the back panel green looks weird because of the lighting, you might darken the ear's weathering and eliminate that orange like color.

    Good job!

Thanks, Rafal. And you pointed out EXACTLY what I am unhappy with. The ears will be reprinted for sure (easy because they're aluminum. And the color on the. Ack panels is a little off even in natural light.
    Both are easy fixes though.
Thanks again for the compliments and critique.
