WIP: ESB Fett build

Thank you so much for the picture, I did not know this picture. It will help me for my paint job I started.
I will follow your work with interest, good luck for the helmet. :)

Plans fell through for today so I was able to do some more work on the dome. Right side and rear are done until I get to super detailing and weathering. Next I'll move to either the dent or kill stripes, leaving the top for last.

... It's still more blue than green but it's close to the reference photos I am going by and once I do more spot airbrushing and weathering should be a close match...

I'm starting to see this now that the green of the dome is down. What colour did you use for the back panels? Will you re-mask and make it more green? Which reference shots are you going by? All the damage and details are looking great!

It is a bit more blue than I wanted but will be an easy fix. I'm using Humbrol green 76 and blue 96. I'll play around with the mix before I rework it. I've been using the photos in the gallery mostly the two I'll link, also the photos I've taken show all the colors a bit darker than they actually are, possibly from the LED lights I'm working under. I do appreciate the feedback. ;)

First off Happy Father's Day to any of you dads out there. Spent all day with my dad and the rest of the family and he had a great day.

Once I got back home I decided to start on the dent and left side damage. So far I have reefer gray and some of the silver down. As well as a bit of the base gray. Still a good ways to go but as of now I am happy with how the dome is turning out.

Been working on the kill stripes and left side damage the last couple of days and it's going well. A little more initial work on the left side then I'll move to the top of the helmet to finish the dome.

Thanks for the compliments all.

Looks great! you also used the Deelucks decals?

I do have some decals from him but as of yet I have not used any. The kill stripes were done using the stencils and traced on then masked off. I'm trying to keep the decals to a minimum but have some around in case I run into any problem areas.

Finished the major painting on the dome and I have now started on the cheeks. Tomorrow or Sunday I'll start applying the damage to them.

Managed to get a good bit done the last couple of days. Finished putting the damage on the cheek areas and got the red (Humbrol Red 73) on the mandibles and other red areas. No photos but I've also airbrushed both ears in their base colors of Sand 93 for the right and a 1:1 ratio of Humbrol's Green 78 and Green 159 for the left ear. Tomorrow if I don't start on the damage to the red areas I will work on the ears. It is finally coming together and starting to look more and more like Fett's helm.

OK, well in a previous post I mentioned how my rear panels were too blue and I needed to rework them. Well, I couldn't stand it any longer so today I masked off the damage and redid the paint mix. I did a straight up 1:1 mix of Humbrol green 76 and blue 96 as Terminal Fettler had on his color list. Much better and much more accurate as a result. I also did a small amount of work on the right ear but no photos yet of that progress.

Have been working on the mandibles and ears the last couple of days. So far I almost have all the silver damage traced and then painted all the way around. I still have the right side back to do and then I'll start on the reefer gray damage areas. The right ear is about 90% done and just have it mocked up for photos will still need to do some work once I start on the rangefinder attachment (one of the last steps I'll do) I wasn't happy with the outcome of the left ear so I stripped it yesterday and reapplied the green. Today I marked off the silver damage and airbrushed on the white decal. I'll work on it more tomorrow as well.

Hey thanks for the wonderful compliments. :) I am really enjoying this paint up using the topical method with some airbrushing. I'm learning a lot of new techniques and what works the best on different applications.

I've always painted that helmet layered, but on my newest helmet I really want to try topical and humbrol paints. This is looking really slick, and I'm glad you finally posted what rubber brush you use; I can never figure out the actual name of those and the morons at the hobby stores look at me like I'm the idiot when I try to explain things to them.
