WIP: Dutch Fett (ROTJ) chest display vid

Whoa, Santa Clause was really early this year. Great thanks to Chris (MOWStudios) who really got me going now...
Man these gloves look awesome. Work is so perfected. Looking back at screencaps they are so accurate.

Knowing now how really hot it is in the helmets, respect for all of you trooping regularly, deeply!
Thanks to my girl, whose idea it was to get into the suit of world's greatest bounty hunter.

last weekend bought a US Army shelter for 18 and with the right size (thanks the templates) here after weathering and noooo the last thing I wanted but for screen accuracy I had to be cutting holes in it too (with sandpaper) and weathering using black shoepolish.

20140416_140034-jpgNew untouched MOW boots. After seeing some great weathering work here can't wait to touch them up.
Also, anybody knows what these are for?20140416_135925-jpg

Yesterdays work drying in the sun:
    10245420_637779372963856_2166951779914836245_n-jpg
For weathering I used Revell Aquacolor, with tips from Spideyfetts tutorial.
Water is your friend. With the washes with matte black, matte white and ocre and some sanding and the wet-on-wet techniques I weathered up the gloves lightly and kneestraps.
Weathering is really a fun job!

    Still gotta do the coating.
Also for the next steps got some paint from Humbrol, matte black, matte vernish, Humbrol Maskol for masking, and goldyellow from local buildshop. Sency I think it was. Still gotta pickup mustard yellow.
    Already got primer and silvermetal.
Next: knee and shoulder armor and girth belt painting.

painted and weathered toe spikes from Toolguy301 with Humbrol matt rust, now they really come to life.

And finally a coat around them for rainy days.

also got some nice paint for the dental files for the helmet. Humbrol transparent some kind of ruby red, its really sticke but a couple of layers makes them look like the real ones!

    Re: WIP: Dutch Fett (ROTJ)

    Thanks,

so up next Wookie Braids.. what a work. bought 3 wigs for 10,-.. and the 10,- was 10 hours of work up to the knots (still to do, see other topic). Taking info from previous topics, reference pics, and lots of help from my braiding gf.
    10320544_647981085277018_3049687005100826875_n-jpg

Then the girth belt. My waist is 33.5, my hips are 35.2 so I got the 36. It fits roomy enough with some stretch left. It sits pretty low so I think I can get it tighter and higher where it belongs... room between buckles. You can tie it really tight now until buckles meet at waist height, but when I want to breath normally and calculate space for cod and back piece it will be 5-7 inches I guess, with still an inch room with stretching. (Think these things are made for horses hihihihi).
    Arrival pic:

    Somewhere between waist and hip:
10313829_647981021943691_2287658994410952644_n-jpgbuttshot: 10268702_647981011943692_2079152133146587518_n-jpg detail on straps. Remember not to make holes but just tear them through with some work they will come neatly.
    10268408_647981075277019_1011721301110138215_n-jpg

Painting was done with some spray paint crimson red and Revell Aquacolor Purpurred water mixed (the dying sticky way). Got some gloves from the gasstation, a box filled with 2 Revell doses (would have used 3 if I do it again). Drying took almost 2 days, but it is very moist here right now.

    Next knee armor.

Remember you will have armor on you want EXTRA room. You can make holes with a soldering Iron

    Re: WIP: Dutch Fett (ROTJ)

thanks F4R. I thought of doing that with a hot match, but just when armor is fitted.

Some more work in progress. RKDs knee and shoulder armor.
After grey primer, metallic silver (brand Sencys). masking fluid Humbrol (like the purple stuff more than toothpaste). Layer of Humbrol desert yellow, masking again, and now the line striping yellow.
10392331_653710151370778_6987198705520065223_n-jpg10334471_653710141370779_5095035666944336733_n-jpg Great darts, really love the work that was already put in the knee armor.
Finished it off with Stanley knife scratches, rust, squash sandpaper of course and the dull coat (Humbrol).
know the knee ties are drying.
    Next try out suit up?

    Re: WIP: Dutch Fett (ROTJ)

Thanks for the replies. Shoulder bells finished with today's received Lucksys' decals.
    Work:
Finishing the edges Sanding, prime layer grey spray paint Sencys (a couple of times), layer silver metallic Sencys, masking fluid acc. to templates/ref.pics, desert yellow Humbrol (this is really good spray paint), remove masking, new masking, a lot of layers of line striping yellow (Sencys, never again, took a day to dry), remove masking.
    Important: sanding throughout every layer,
All details with ref pics in front of laptop, using paperclip, nails, Humbrol rust enamel, some black shoepolish.
Finally the decal, some black misting of Humbrol matt black spray paint, and finally dull varnish to cover it all up.

10410455_660738554001271_8024233535607113822_n-jpg PS I found out that I should have trimmed them a little bit more to the curvings. any tips on repairs?

Remain to say that the stuff I am working with so far is really pro-work (RKD and Lucksy, also MOW are all great, fast to work with and standup).
Waiting for my suit to arrive and then yes let's suit up at least.

Hi, finished the trimming on shoulders better.
Also got my Fettronics Chest Display. The quality and detail that goes in that is best displayed in a short video:

Re: WIP: Dutch Fett (ROTJ) first suit up

So this is where I stand so far: completed boots, flightsuit, vest, spats pouches, girth belt, ammo belt, cape, 3 shin tools (Security Tool is almost finished too), knee and shoulder armor, neckseal, gloves, wookiebraids (and not shown balaclava). Most thanks to vendors here from the forum, who are all great artists (RKD, Arkady, MOW) and the loads of info that one can find here. For the guys who are just starting, TDH is the place to be.

Weathered the suit with mix of spray paint, a little rust enamel (Humbrol), and oil stains.

    10505298_682207921854334_5172852658873336806_n-jpg
    On order: armor, helmet.
Research ongoing (paints, small details), to be done after that: Mitchell brushes, jetpack harness and webbing, and finally jetpack.
Ooooooh and I just read about bells for spurs in the shintool pockets: great idea!

Comments and tips so far are welcome.

Re: WIP: Dutch Fett (ROTJ) chest display vid

    Looks great Michel!

Just FYI: You only need the two shin tools for ROTJ (the larger ones...I forget their names). The other two are optional (which should make room for the bells). Also, it may be better to tuck the pant leg into the boot and then have the spat go overtop.

    Keep it up!
