    Hi !

It's time to attach collar to vest.
Just a quick update before : I changed the bolts because the head was to high.
So i use 6mm eyelets with 4mm bolts.

    This is the new bolts

    dscn8502-jpgdscn8503-jpgdscn8504-jpg

I put on them epoxy dough to have a stronger attachment.

    dscn8506-jpgdscn8505-jpg

And this is how i do to attach collar to vest :

1 - I put the vest on me and my wife put the cardboard pattern on the marks she made earlier with the real collar(see posts above)
    dscn8507-jpgdscn8508-jpg

2 - with sharp scissors, i make a hole ( never cut the vest, only spread the fibers of the vest). I use a bigger scissor and a bolt of the same diameter than the eyelet as a guide.
    dscn8510-jpg dscn8511-jpgdscn8512-jpgdscn8513-jpgdscn8521-jpgdscn8522-jpg

3 - This is theview of the back
    dscn8514-jpg

4 - To Finish, you must have to secure the eyelet.
This is the tool i used and the result after hitting with the hammer.
    dscn8519-jpgdscn8520-jpgdscn8516-jpgdscn8517-jpg

    5 - The 2 others...
    dscn8518-jpgdscn8524-jpg

6 - So finally, i can attach collar to vest :
    dscn8525-jpgdscn8526-jpg

I have just to cut the bolt at the same level than the nut.

I will use the collar to adjust the other parts of the armor (see next steps...)

The attachment method looks great and is pretty close to the original. Although on the original they used bigger eyelets to let the armor to move in every direction and to eliminate vest tearing, your method will do the same, but with reduced movement. Here is my research regarding the armor attachment ==> Speaker in the MoM abdominal plate - Post #8.

Thanks Rafal, great job as always. I will remenber it when i will do my ROTJ armor. But for this one the problem is that my bolts are too close from the edge of the armor.
The hexagon shapes were also a great method to attach the armor. On ABS plastic, there is some glue that have the property to make a weld between to parts of plastic (the liquid glue from humbrol by example).
But again with my fiberglass armor, i can't use this hexagonals parts because the inner edge of the armor is too short.

Re: WIP - Boba Fett ESB armor - Attachment and painting

This is the next step :

I made all the holes on cardboard and then i made the marks on the armor.

The difficulty is to put correctly the armor parts on the vest.So i made a first try using pillows in the vest to imitate body shape.
(Before, i drew a line in the middle of the vest as a guide)

I'm not sure if the parts must be closer. Anyone can help me?

I understand your point! It looks great!

The distances between the chest plates and the abdominal plate should be smaller (also the abdominal plate is too far from the lower margin of the vest), but because the armor doesn't cover fully the vest, I say that you should leave it as it is.

    Hi,

Thanks Rafal. Yes i've a problem with the dimensions of the armor (or the vest). I made another try using electrical tape to maintain the armor on the vest. Here's the result.
I know that the collar is too high but i can't put it lower because it's too short.
I don't know if it's due to Bobamaker's armor dimensions which are smaller or my body (my heigh is 187cm).

The 'problem' is the armor size. The collar plate's position is perfect and the distances between the other plates is now pretty good (ideally the chest plates should be a bit closer to the collar plate, but because of the armor size is smaller, you should leave it this way). If you want a more accurate look (regarding the size) than your other choices would be fettpride (not too sure which version is bigger) and redkraytdragon (but you already know this).

I've finished to put eyelets and bolts on armor :
This is the vest with the marks i made using cardboard pattern :
    dscn8895-jpgdscn8894-jpg

    Vest with all eyelets :
    dscn8939-jpg

    Armor with bolts :

    dscn8938-jpg
Tu cut the bolt at the right length, i made a mark on one of them while the collar was attached on the vest. After, i used rings to have the same depth, so i cut all the bolts in the same time.
