I have looked through google for US army half shelter, but I don't know if what i'm finding is legit. Can anyone respond with a link to a good source. And does getting vintage material realy that much better? I'm a perfectionist.
Thanks guys

BTW hear about Bobamaker's wrist? Sucks. I've got 2 orders in from him too :cry

U.S. Army shelter half any army surplus store will have them, and they are just canvas.
Use U.S. Army shelter half not half shelter for the search.

There should plenty of the stuff on the market right now since the Marine Corps was using them until around the mid to late 90's. So by now all of the Corp's stock should be out in the surplus market.

I find it pretty interesting that people are using them RotJ Fett capes, having used them back when I was in the Corps I can say that's about all they're really good for.

So true. I never used mine in the field.

You cant beat a good ole $12.00 used shelter half for the costume.(y)

If you are looking for the correct material, I have some extra left over from the half shelter I cut for my cape. There is enough material for one more cape in it. Let me know if you want it.

I actually lucked out with mine. I'm actually friends with a local Nat'l Guard S-4 who was throwing out an ancient GP medium, so I helped myself to a giant slice of the side curtain.

Is the canvas really pliable enough to serve as a rough cape? It seems (although, this is coming from a guy who's never used the canvas) like it would be too stiff or rough to have the loose flexibility and durability of wearable cloth. Please, correct me if I'm wrong - I'm more than a little inexperienced in this department.
