I'm about to look for a Fettronics chest display. My question is what version should I choose which is close to screen accurate for ROTJ?

AFAIK, the chest display in ROTJ wasn't functional; however, to fill the slots, I used TK 409's printout on transparent sheet and glued it behind the slots...

It doesn't light up, but it still looks the part from a distance...

This is how mine turned out, i used TK409's templates. sorry for the poor quality image

i just orderd tk409 working chest lights , i will post some pics when i get it. i thought making one would be cheaper but after my guy at radio shack looked at the pics and diagram ,he said the cost are about the same.

The screen used light set has the 20 LEDs across the top, making up 5 sets of 4 LEDs each. The Fettronics V1.2 has the 20 LEDs, the V1.1 uses 5 solid LEDs. IMHO, the V1.1 looks better, and you can always draw lines on the LEDs to simulate the 4 segments if you wanted :)

I would strongly disagree with this. While it seems to be a popular myth that the lights where not infact 'ON' in ROTJ, they most certainly were. The reason why they appear off is that the lights are washed out. However, in the following HD captures provided by Art, you can make out the faint hint of the red glow of the lights (you have too look close for it).

As to what was the display, the answer is 'Unknown', but speculated to be the exact same display as see in ESB production photos

I stand corrected... sort of...

IMHO, from what I can see of the images, the only thing that appears to work is the top bar; I've never seen images or screen caps of the lower bar with the actual characters working or flashing on screen...

Although, this could simply be due to Boba's lack of screen time in the movie to get an accurate photo of it; maybe a frame by frame examination of the "Jabba Room" scene where he rubs the chin of the dancer might help? That scene to me appears to be the only one in the whole film where the chest display is in plain view for more than .05 seconds...
