I'll post some pictures asap. Bad news....the armatures were wrong. The waterjet guy cut them at the wrong scale and they are too tight of a fit. I am having them redone. They should be ready tomorrow.

Don't laugh but check out what I built tonight.... I rented him out on a Lucasfilm/Cingular commercial for the UK. He leaves tomorrow. Bummed out. We threw these together after work so they aren't perfect by any means.

Thanks. He came out okay for throwing it together. The shop is approximately 100,000 sq. ft. It's a big shop.

This was for a LucasFilm/Cingular commercial? Now that would be a rewarding justification of your work! I usually get copies of Cingular commercials before they are released. I'll keep an eye out so I can lay my hands on that tape.
100,000 square feet?!? The way I tend to start a new project before finishing the last, I could probably junk that place up in no time, lol!

There's a small stand behind his left leg that makes him keep balance. You are supposed to screw that leg down to a stand but I hadn't at that point. That leg helps him balance. Later I made a quickie stand and screwed it down.

The jumpsuit came from Skygunbro on EBAY. The vest came with it. The vest was temporary to get the mannequin done. I only had a day to get it done so there it is.

    Re: Webley...Rubber EE-3 Blaster

Here are some progress pictures. Below are pictures of the steel armatures that are cast into the guns. This steel armature increases the weight of the gun but is necessary to keep it strong and rigid. I estimate the total weight of the EE-3 to be around 6 pounds.

Here is the assembly line in progress. These guns give me a headache.

    Egads! I hate little parts!

John, even though you might hate all those little parts , I love the fact that you haven't forgotten your attention to detail! These pics prove to me that this is going to be the most beautiful Hypefirm weapon you've put together yet -- I can hardly wait for mne to show up at my doorstep!

Yeah. I'll be doing a second run soon. They can be ordered one at a time too. The run was just a way of getting the prices down.

I have a feeling there are plenty of us interested in a second run, but John probably hasn't seen daylight in awhile. (You mean there's more to life than sleep and work?!?)

I've been lurking through this thread from time to time, and I gotta say...WOW. That is the sharpest rifle I've ever seen! Clean casting and awesome durability. John, I went to the website and saw the buildup on Kenny's barrel. Go ahead and put me at the top of the ROTJ list!

hey John. do you shorten the barrels on the rubber webley's? they look loke they get shorter at the top of the production line. It could just be because there farther away than the others but it looks like the 2 top ones just suddenly shorten by about an inch

Nothing has been shortened on the Webley. It is an optical illusion from the angle of the picture.

Also, there are the brackets that the scope attach to, whuch may add to that illusion.

Any word on when we might expect to get these? I see the paid list is still a tad sparce. I'd love to get this in time for my first Fett trooping event the weekend of April 2nd and 3rd.

Thanks for all the updates, can't wait to get my mitts on the rifle!

    Re: Webley...Rubber EE-3 Blaster

I am not sure what happened to John. I can only assume that he got swamped with working on POTC 2&3 and filming the Cingular Commercials. THe last time I talked to him was last tuesday and I have been trying to get ahold of him by phone ever since. Everything goes straight into VM so he is more then likely on set because they have a no cell phone rule on set from what he explained. I am confident everything is ok but some sort of contact would be helpful.

Yea, I too was able to get ahold of John at his office this afternoon. He said that his company is doing the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards and has him whipped!

Hi Guys. Sorry for being MIA. I just read my PMs and such. I have my computer back up as of last night. I'm sorry for the delays. Kid's Choice Awards are a killer. They shoot this Saturday. I can't wait until they are over. I will have these shipped by Monday at the latest I swear. I'll be online tonight after about 8:00 pm Pacific time.

I just got off the phone with john. He let me know that 4 of the blasters were shipped yesterday and he is going to ship out 4 more today. He will try and contact those that have them coming to give you the tracking numbers and ETA's

    Ok Gorman, Just for you:

    Why is the sky blue?

Our patrons are a curious bunch. Or maybe they just want to test us out. :-) Here's the reason the sky is blue. This explanation was written for us by Carl Aude, who works at NASA. The answer is based in part on the explanation in
Hecht, Eugene. Optics. 2nd Edition. New York: Addison-Wesley, 1988. pp. 293-294.

Light from the sun, like light from many sources, contains all frequencies (colors) of visible light. All the frequencies together look white, and are called white light. The first thing you might learn about light is it goes in a straight line. Next you learn there are four exceptions to this rule: reflection, refraction, diffraction, and scattering. Scattering is when light bounces off things like molecules. If you were in space the sun would look very bright and the sky would look absolutely black, since light normally goes in a straight line. But here on Earth, light is scattered by molecules of air as it passes through the atmosphere. Lord Rayleigh was the first to research the dependence of scattering on the frequency of light. He found that scattering increases in proportion to the fourth power of the frequency of the light. This means that light of higher frequencies (blue) is scattered much much more than light of lower frequencies (red). While most light passes straight on through to the Earth's surface, there is so much sunlight to start with that significant amounts of light are scattered and due to its higher frequency, the bulk of the scattered light is blue. It is scattered in all directions, but much of it makes its way to the Earth again, coming in from all directions, and this makes the sky blue. This is also the reason for the color of sunsets. As the sun approaches the horizon it comes to us through a greater angle and passes through the atmosphere for a much greater distance. First, this causes the longer wavelengths of red, orange, and yellow to be scattered more so that they color the nearby sky. Second, it causes the blue light to be scattered away even more and not reach us as much.

He did not have the list in front of him because he was in the shop. He did however say he would post which ones shipped out.

I know this might seem like a stupid question...but are we going to have thses all by CIII? These were supposed to have gone out on 3/17...and now only a few are being shipped at a time? It's understandable that John has a VERY BUSY schedule...but can something be done? John?

You will all have them by C3. Sorry for being so busy guys. Everyone will have them next week the latest. I will be shipping the balance via next day. Please don't stress out. I will get them to you if I have to bring them to C3 myself.

I'm really sorry they got shipped so late. I hope everything still works out. For those of you who will be accidentally receiving 2 of them, please let me know when to have them picked up.
