Webley...Rubber EE-3 Blaster

Well, from the pictures on the site, the rings were there with the original gun but the problem that I am sure he is facing now is that he couldn't do the rings in rubber because of the stress that a strap would put on them. SO now he is faced with trying to figure out an alternate means of either a metal ring that he will attach except, to do that he would need a support system on the inside of the gun so it doesn't just fall out easily or just scrapping the rings altogether. Now, I am not a big fan of the latter and I am sure John, with his exceptional ability to take our suggestions is probably racking his brain right now to figure out a solution while he is waiting for the V8 Connecting rod to arrive. LOL

LOL. The sling rings are molded but don't do you any good as rubber rings. You could never attach to them and expect them to hold any weight for very long. The only thing that I can do without going to the expense and time of having something machined is to insert something like this (below). This will of course add more time to the construction and increase the cost. I was trying not to increase the cost but it appears that it won't be possible. Anyway, the copper coated steel rod will be bent prior to casting and laid into the mold. The steel ring can be added after to attach a sling. The copper steel rod will of course be longer than shown to add strength.

For the sake of being able to attach a strap and be more screen acurate I am going to have to say to definately include the rings.
I know everyone is going to want to have a strap on theirs.
I say attach the rings, leave the strap up to the individual to put together when they get the gun.

That's just my opinion.

Looks great John, from what I can see it looks like how it was done on the original Webley. Anyone know exactly how the strap attaches to the little rings?

I would say with the rifle straps that have the 2 hook ends lie this:

Like the black type hook in the top row here:

Cost...I don't know. I haven't even poured all the parts yet. I'm going to try to do this at my expense although it add quite a bit of work to the job and my "partner" is already squirming about the pricing. I will get back to all of you about this later.

unfortunetly in ESB there arnt any clear sceans to observe the sling mount's. the only usfull thing i could determan is that the sling it self if made of thick brown leather. and thats all i could get. srry

ok, I'm thinking I saw a place where you posted pricing and to send money by the 4th of Feb but I sure as heck can't find that now. If I'm wrong let me know andn if i'm right tell me where to send money and how much!

I just want to say real quick that I really appreciate all the work and dedication John has put into this project. Aside from the fact that he is working on props for the studios all day, he found time to put these guns together for us. He has put in a ton of hours and rarely gets any sleep because of the deadlines he is trying to keep. And to top it all off, he has been sick with the flu the whole time he has worked on this project for us. He completely lost his voice for 3 days straight because everything was moving into his chest.
So, from myself and I am sure others will follow suit on this, Thank You John.

I agree. I really want to take the time to thank John for all of his work, help, updates, and info on this project.

John, if there is anything I can do to help with distrubution, or prep work, or anything at all, please let me know.

YOU are the man!

I'll second that dedication comment!(y) As a happy owner of one of Johns' Mg-34's, Mg-42's, and and an E-ll, I have to say he really puts his heart:love and soul into these projects, and I from what I can see, this Webley, far and away, is even better yet. I salute you, John! (too bad we don't have a saluting smiley, so all I can do is bow to your incredible aura of Hyperfirm brilliance!(y) :) .

:moon
That's bowing, right? Just the facing the wrong way? ;)
I totally agree, John's work just leaves me speechless. I'm also glad to see he values the input of everyone, that makes the product so much more satisfying.
