Webley Kits + Greebs: Interest

The mount molds are done. Theres good news and bad news.

One side comes out perfect every time with no cleaning. The opposite side has flashing and a few bubbles.

The shape of the mold, has 'air cavities in it'. While I can get rid of the big bubbles, small bubbles are virtually impossible to remove.

On other mounts, (ebay, sidewinder) that I have seen, they only have details on one side. One side is flat. Thats because they are poured as a basic block mold, and then a grinder/sander used to machine one side.

I can machine one side a little, to clear flashing, and clean them up quite a bit, however, there will be small bubbles that may or may not have to be filled in the pours.

It takes me 3 ish tries to get a 'pristine' one. If any of you have ever crafted in EQ2 or other games, youll find this amusing.

I cant post pics at the moment, as my ftp server is having troubles. But I will asap.

The other greebles are turning out well. And I expect to have this completed in the next day or so, but making a 'perfect' cast every time, at an affordable price, is probably out of the picture.

The bottom line, some filling will be required in order to make these look 'machined'.

I can pour them in the current molds (probably) to only have detail on one side, and grind them off. That is the other option.

Pour'd these, no cleanup, just peeled the flashing. You can see them good side up and bad side up (parting line side).

Dude those look pretty darn good. You had me thinking they were going to be full of bubbles until I looked at the pic. They look nice to me. Good job.

They arent bad. Just a few bubbles the size of a pin. But you know me, I want everyone to know exactly what were workin wit:)

Im getting better and better at pulling them. And if I machine them a tad after the pull, it gets a lot of the flashing. Just a light sanding and were in business.

Im going to put together a gun tonight to get a feeling for how they look. Ill try to get some pics posted.

Ill just sell the gun at a discount when im done:)

Heres a quick shot of the 'beefyness' of the mounts.

Im undecided on the thickness of the front. And the shrouds are too wide. Ill have to grind them to be narrower.

Youll need molex connectors, and a scope body. (the ends and center) from ebay for 10 bucks.

The rest will be in the kit. Ill take a pic of what the scope looks like with all the pieces on it on the gun.

I quick glued one together and put all the pieces on it, it turned out pretty good. The shrouds are tad thicker than I wanted, but people can sand any side down, to make it smaller in dimension, but its impossible to add, so for all pieces, I made decided to err on thicker.

Molex connectors when bought in bulk are about 10 cents a piece. max 25cents.

For some reason, people like to sell them for 4 for 10 bucks. Which is a HUGE irritation to me.

I may look to get some sent in, ill have to buy a large quantity, but then we should be able to have them.
