TRASH CAN ARMOR! *PICS*

In my experiences with trash can plastic, it doesn't heat evenly, gets sticky and melts.
An alternate material that I've not heard of anyone using is 1/32nd inch thick pvc pipe.
Best cut with power tools as it is a hard plastic, but can be heated in the oven or with a heat gun and is like rubber when heated. It can be stretched into shape and will keep that shape when it cools. It takes some work to get larger pieces smooth if not pulled over a form.

Thanks for the advice sabiru...I think I will try both methods to see how each one works.

Gamer...do you have pics of the jet pack you made from trash can plastic? I am interested to see how it turned out.

Here is a pic of my "Trash Can Jet Pack!!"

It does not yet have a rocket, I'm going to build those in 3D first so I can get a good size of dimension, then I will do the 'pi r^2' and cut them out in plastic, then it should be a perfect fit for the jet pack.

It needs to be modified and needs a new paintjob, but the overall shape is good. The tanks at the bottom are not supposed to stick out like that, I need to shave them off, also it's cracking un peu on the sides where the plastic was glued, so I'll goop them up really well and fill in those holes.

It also needs the side thrusters.

how much for finished Armor
This tread is not for selling armour, but I am not sure if you mean if you are inquiring about a purchase or asking how much funds it required to build the armour.

Trash cans at Wal-Mart can cost $5-10. I was buying mine from K-Mart, I felt that they had a more basic selection for flatter plastics.

GCNgamer, that jet pack is awesome!!! Do you have any WIP pics or any kind of insight on how exactly you got it out of trashcans? I've already made my armor out of a trashcan, and I just can't imagine getting something that awesome out of it!

GNCgamer..... that jet pack looks amazing!! I'm always amazed on these boards by peoples resourcefullness...keep up the great work

I've been to 6 different Wal-Marts, two different Meijer's, and three different Targets and have only been able to find the smaller of the 2 trashcans shown in the original posts. Can anyone out there clue me in on where I might be able to find the larger trashcan?

I have'nt tried a K-Mart yet because all the K-Marts in our area were closed down several years ago and the nearest one is about 50 miles or so away.

Thanks in advance for any help!(y)

You could try a Longs Drug Store. Yes, it is a drug store, but the one I work at does have a selection of trash cans that work rather nicely. If not, I'd suggest looking in a few supermarkets such as Vons or Stater Bros.

I don't think we have those chains around here, although I seem to remember seeing a Von's in Cincinnati. Thanks for the input!

Just wondering how you were able to create the shin armor foiooo. How did you get the raised, rectangular portion that goes down the middle. Any info from anyone would be appreciated. I was thinking of buying the chest armor/cod piece/leg armor/knee armor from a seller on ebay for $115 (shipping included and painted silver), but think i might wanna give the trash can armor a try. I bought a full set of biker scout (TB) armor (helmet included) for $200.00 a few years ago, but thought it might be more fun to create all the armor myself (used to love building model airplanes etc.. when I was a kid). I've started to get tired of going as a biker scout for halloween (already won a few hundred dollars at costume contests) and this year will probably be my last as a biker scout before I start on Jango Fett. Thanks again for any info.

Su'cuy Vode!

Well im new here so forgive my ignorance if i ask soemthing thats been asked before or is just stupid altogether.

So anyway what a fantastic idea! this has deffinatley motivated me to make my own beskar'gam! but first a simple question does anyone in the UK know of a suitable bin to use? i just had a walk around town and couldnt see anything worth using so any suggestions on where to look would be brilliant.

Anyway any help would be much appreciated!

Ret'vode!

Looks like I can add mine up here too. Steralite kit purchased off ebay cause I didnt see this thread before I bought it. Obviously a custom paint. Such an economical way to get into mando armor.
