TK-409 Vest *MORE PICS* UPDATE 1/24

    UPDATE 1/24
Beginning at the end of December, Heidi started making the revised prototype which is the version she is making for anyone who has ordered one. The revision involves cleaning up the fit on the shoulders and making the arm holes bigger to accomodate the jumpsuit. I'm very happy with it and I think you will be too. This also shows the cotton sateen fabric she'll be using for those without their own.

    UPDATE 1/17
Heidi has begun receiving your custom material and will begin right away. Be sure to include your shoulder and chest measurement in addition to your actual shirt size. Here's a measurement guide for help.

    UPDATE 1/2
Heidi is now taking all orders regardless if you have material or not. I shopped around and found a good "cotton sateen" material that has a light sheen and great color .

See the photo below for her color.
Also, please send your shirt size (M, L, XL) and your measurements:
    1. shoulder-to-shoulder
    2. chest (all the way around your chest under your arms.)
    ------------------------------------------------

    UPDATE 12/28
My sister Heidi also anticipated the issue on the low shoulder caps and said they will now be raised and slightly puffier to look more like these:
    http://www.TK409.com/images/fett/vest2/ref/1.jpg
    http://www.TK409.com/images/fett/vest2/ref/2.jpg

The vest will also include the jet pack harness slits in the back and will come without velcro. This way you can do the snap method - easy!

The price will be $60 + $5 shipping. Heidi will do Mediums and Larges for those who already have their own fabric first. She can start right away on those with a Paypal to hlmmb@yahoo.com. Don't forget to specify Med or Lg.

For those without their own fabric, watch this thread for an update for when she's ready for those.
    Thanks
    - Chris

    ------------
Hey! My sister made me a new separate vest to go with Mrs. TK-409's Neckseal. Cool! I still have to add the back slits for the jet pack harness - but that's easy - with the missus' help of course! I will weather it a bit, but this is just to show the structure and fit. For reference, I'm a medium.

It's got a velcro closure for the back and I'll use snaps for attaching the armor. In the photos, the armor is just taped to the vest for reference.

For snap help, click here and here

Let me know what you honestly think - and if you'd change anything. My sister said she'd like to offer these to TDH members as well and she's got plenty of time to do them. Price would be around $65 - possibly lower.

Looks great. I still have the vest fabric offered early this year by Lee and BobaFettish, can your sister use my fabric to make the vest??

Also, are the shoulder sleeves on your vest quilted??

The only thing I can see that can be improved is that the sleeves are a bit too low, I think they should sit a bit higher and that the lower front of the accurate ROTJ vest is about 1 inch longer than the back side of the vest.

    Re: TK-409 Vest *PICS*

Glad you like it guys, this is the second prototype I had her do. You know, the slightly lower shoulders were the thing I thought should be revised too. Good call.

The shoulders are quilted - see here. Do those look ok or are you guys thinking they need to be puffier?
    http://www.tk409.com/images/fett/vest/vest2/2.jpg

Here's the reference photo I used showing the front and back meeting up on the side - to me it looks like it's straight across:
    http://www.tk409.com/images/fett/vest/10.jpg
On your ref pic, it looks like the vest is just caught on the belt.

And, yes, she can make it from any fabric you want.

    Re: TK-409 Vest *PICS*

Looks great, but as Bobafettish once told me with my vest, that top corner of the shoulder bell needs to come up and line across with the top of the chest armor, as in this pic already posted..

    http://200.72.163.179/cdref/0001_0100/Boba_Fett_098.jpg

So that shoulder needs to be moved up for it to happen.
As mentioned above as well, the sleeve needs to be shorter so that the lower portion of the sleeve meets up with the mid corner of the bell.

    Looks good other wise.

that looks pretty sweet to me. I'd like to see it with the belts on to see how close it comes to them. I know I need to size everything I have down a few inches because my ab plate meets the top of my ammo belt.

Let me know if an ESB version of this has been (or will be) done so I can take a gander at a photo of two to see what sort of color and material would be used.

I'm VERY interested in a vest, but I'll have to wait until BobaFettish's vest material gets here. I picked up 3 yards of it, so I hope that's enough for me (I'm a very small dude). Anyway, I'm keeping my eye on this thread. As always, Chris, your stuff looks amazing! Nice work!

Sorry for my ignorance, but what's the difference between ESB and ROTJ?

Also, you'll need to send 2.5 yards as recommended by BobaFettish.

Chris... the different (at least on my screen) is the ESB is a dark in appearance than the ROTJ colored vest.

Maybe its just the way my graphics card is translating things... I can pop the movies in tomorrow and see if I can tell if the difference is the same there.

Re: TK-409 Vest *PICS* UPDATE 12/28

I put together several photos from ESB and ROTJ comparing the colors. It looks like they are probably the same. Even thought the lighting varies in the pics, I would say it's a light gray or off-white. Ours is the off-white.

I forgot, the fabric from BF, are both sides the same or is one side better? I sent fabric to Chris's sister and forgot if the sides were the same.

Re: TK-409 Vest *PICS* UPDATE 1/17

Well, thanks to TK-409 and his sister Heidi, I finally have a vest. I am VERY happy with it. It was made from the material ordered here on the first run. I have to say, other than being a tad too big (I am holding it tight in the back) I love it. It is very well made and the whole experiance was a pleasure. Communications were fast and I never made to feel that I was pestering her with my questions and concerns. I tip my helmet to Chris, his wife (her neck stock)and his sister, Heidi for offering their services to the board.

I threw some tape on my armor and had to see how it is going to look.

    Thanks again!

Re: TK-409 Vest *PICS* UPDATE 1/17

Wow, guys, I can't believe this thread slipped past my eyes, but I am here now.

First thing's first, the shoulders should be a bit higher than the one you are wearing in the first pic. As Lynn mentioned, the shoulder area really needs to go over the rotar cuff area, not over the edge of the shoulder like a T-shirt does. If so, the shoulder bell will sit too low to line up with the top of the chest armor.

Secondly, everyone who ordered vest fabric from me should have it by Monday or Tuesday, Wednesday at the absolute latest with the exception of Loranar_Fett (Canada) and Fett2210 (Germany). You two are at the mercy of your perspective customs services.

Thirdly, Heidi is charging a very fair price to do this work, especially since she has a clue of what we are wanting done. I have gone the "show pictures to a seamstress" route before and always end up going back a time or two to still not get it perfect. In fact, I am so impressed with what I have seen so far that I too will be sending Heidi the last 2-1/2 yards I have so I can get one made myself.

::Edit:: I forgot to answer the question of which side to use for your vests. The shiney side should face out for the vest and the dull side should face out for your neckpiece. There is a sheen to the shiney side that really shows up in flash photography, so you need to weather it a bit to overcome that. I used a generous misting of taupe spray paint and primer along with some Dull Cote which worked pretty well.

TIP: Remember to put on your jet pack harness first before measuring your chest as it will undoubtable add an inch or two to your overall dimensions.

Re: TK-409 Vest *MORE PICS* UPDATE 1/24

I got my vest in the mail today from Heidi. It was created using the fabric from BobaFettish....ITS AMAZING!!!!!! She certainly has a way with fabric! I would HIGHLY recommend anyone having Heidi make their vest. Thank you so much to Heidi, Chris (TK-409) and Chris (BobaFettish).

I'll post pics when I get a chance.

how much longer will this be offered? I have some more weight to loose before I can get a good measurment, plus I don't know what I'm using for my harness yet (cause I don't have a jet pack) I do have the fabric that I think I want to use though.

    Hey Chris,

New guy here. I read through the thread, but didn't see any mention of orders being taken for people without their own fabric. Did I miss it or have those not started yet?

    Count me interested!

Re: TK-409 Vest *MORE PICS* UPDATE 1/24

just got mine, and wearing it now... I LOVE THIS PIECE. One of the best vests EVER to be made for me with mail in measurements.

Now here's my question, I couldn't ask for a more perfect fit up top, but is there supposed to be this much space in the "belly section" ? just wondering. Just playing with it a little and pinching off some fabric here and there, I realize that if I pinch too much, I can't move my arms around as much .... so I Think this much give is needed. Very good job on Team Tk409.

    The fit is incredible.

did I forget to tell you ? it only took a week to process my order !!

Just wanted to say that I got my vest today. I agree, for mail in measurements the vest fits perfect. Great job Heidi.

I spoke with Bobafettish this last weekend and he recommended a great and easy way to remedy the baginess of the bottom...elastic clasps that dresses for women in the 80's used to gear. Should work perfectly and thanks again chris ! God I love this place and the work that comes out of it !!!

    Very nice work!

I shelved my costume awhile back, but now that I have finished some other projects, I am looking to get back into Fett mode. I still check the forums regularly, and have been interested in the progress of the neck seal and the vest since they became available.

I hope I am not to late to get in on these outstanding items.

Chris, I will email you with my request.
