What I did was find a good spot for a hole. grab it by that spot with 2 fingers so the rest drapes down and cut a small hole up by my fingers. Then when you can hold it by the top and see just how big the hole is. If your not happy with it then just cut a little bigger. If this makes any sence good if not then sorry.
I'ver heard the "Tie to your bumper, drive around town" method works...but I have yet to try it.
I've heard that you place it on the concrete & smash holes in it with a hammer.
Haven't tried it yet with mine.
I've heard that if you tie it to a chain saw and hop on your right foot while trying to eat an apple with the same hand the saws in. Dude youll get it done quick.
I think I might try the nice and simple method of cutting holes. lol.
you're other suggestions though creative, wouldn't fly here in Chicago (such as driving around with a cape tied to my bumper...maybe in Southside, but not northside ! lol
I shot mine with a shotgun and a .22. But of course, we can do that here in Texas. :)
I just stabed a small hole in mine with scisorrs then ripped the rest. Cutting it will leave straight edges.
One of those wire-brush attachments on a drill works well. Also, just scrunching it up and cutting a small piece, then washing it in the washing machine makes the edges all nice and frayed.
i just made a wet ring around a spot on the cape where the hole would go an lit it on fire that way the whole cape would not go up and I still got realistic burns around the hole. I did the same thing to give the bottom of the cape a shreded look.
man you guys are really imaginative. I just tore holes and threw it in the washer ! CAme out great btw and THANK YOU to everyone who colorfully contributed to my question !
GM...

Looks good!
Someone I know lit the edges on fire and then stomped it out :lol . Kind of dangerous, but it looked OK. Of course it wasn't even close to screen accurate, and it was scorched all over, but it had a pretty cool look if your doing a custom mandalorian costume.

This burn was made using a lighter (FIRE!!) and black acrylic paint. I held the cape in one hand and burned with the other.. hence the drop shape of the burn.. looks great IMO...

This burn i did by tearing the fabric and using the metal brush on my rotary tool to fray the edges.. then.. more black paint and "black wash"
