Taking My Best Shot: Robo's ESB Fett

I attempted to use the buttonhole feature on my sewing machine. Definitely out of my depth here.... Anyway, I did what I could to create a buttonhole to run my chest display cord through my flak vest. I also sewed a little pouch for the battery pack. I'm not sure where, exactly, to put the battery pack because it is a bit large and I have limited room behind my flak vest once my flight suit, harness, etc are on. I'm thinking about stitching the pouch behind my ab plate, even though it may look a bit like I'll have a Boba gut.

This is my favourite Fett build. I'm impressed with all of your hard work on this and am excited to see it finished. Well done, Pete.

Thanks!

Quick update: After dry fitting things so many times, I decided it best to attach my neck seal to the collar of my flight suit. I stitched the bottom of the bib to the flight suit as well to keep it from sliding up and bunching at the base of my neck.

This looks great, so far!
Thank you! Still a little ways to go yet...

I have a jetpack in need of a lot of TLC (bono, sanding, filling, metal parts, etc) and am running out of funds to spend so I'm going to take a crack at a scratch built rocket. The pack I have is missing the rocket, which most likely broke off in a battle of epic proportions...or a crappy packing job after a troop... either way, it's missing and I need one.

The rocket looks a bit wonky in the last pic because nothing is glued and the pieces are balancing on top of each other. Also, plenty more sanding needs to happen. I'm going to look for a potential rocket tip and collar/base this afternoon.

So, this thing won't be completely accurate, but "close enough" will be my goal. Chopping up a gopher poison container made most of the rocket bodies. I also cut up some free paint stir sticks for upper body fins, a toilet flange for the bottom rocket body base, made the collar out of a wooden drink coaster, and then some PVC pipe here and there. I'm having a bit of a hard time finding a good pointy rocket tip. I came across some cake decorating cones, but they were a bit too tall and narrow. I still have holes to drill, other pieces to install, and then coat the entire thing on the inside with some sort of resin so it doesn't fall apart.

Great build! (y)

Quick update: My place of employment (post-production & graphics house) was disposing of a ton of tapes and cases. I grabbed a couple, glued them shut, sliced them in half, rounded out any sharp corners, and put them in my pouches to be used as functional, lightweight inserts. Now I can put keys, phone, etc. in my pouches and they still keep that boxy shape. I'm sure any old VHS or NES cartridge rental case would work for this as well.

Fantastic Idea!

Thank you for the positive comments, all!

The scratch building/DIY aspect wouldn't necessarily be my first choice (a spot-on, screen accurate cast from a reputable caster would be great) , but it IS pretty fun to do and feels great knowing that it's mine.
It's looking like the TO DO list so far is:
- Better boots (I need a size 9-10 and have a size 11 to trade if anyone is interested?)
- Paint and weather sidearm once I get it from MLS
- Assemble and paint EE3 (which I am about to order from MLS as well!)
- Paint and assemble knees
- GET A METAL JETPACK BEACON AND LIGHT (These things aren't cheap...and a bit tough to make!)

I'm sure there are a thousand other little fixes I need to do as well, so time to get on it!

Today I was able to dry fit the rocket on my jetpack and get the first coat of primer on it. I filled the rocket with spray foam to hopefully keep things together a bit better. The pack needs a lot of work (sanding, filling, repainting), but it's getting there.

I also got a base coat of paint on my knees. I may be stuck in a holding pattern here until I get some metal knee darts.

I took a break from the jetpack (and somehow convinced a friend to prep it for paint) to complete the shin tools. There isn't much to share in addition to the thread by The5thHorseman. If you haven't checked it out yet, here it is again:

A couple of quick fixes for me while building the shin tools: For the 3rd shin tool, I chopped up some kind of cable TV coaxial connector for the top of the Mitchell rods and glued them to the top of a bolt I hacked up. I made the black details of the 2nd shin tool by cutting up an Ozzy sticker I had lying around. Thank you, Prince Of Darkness!

The 4th tool was easy to make using pipe. Here is a family photo, all snug in their home.

I hope so, too! At this point, he said he wouldn't have boots in stock until later in the summer. Until then, I will be circling the Cargo Hold like a vulture.

Simply awesome!
Thank you, I'm glad you think so!

I got back to fixing the jetpack I have. The thruster balls I have are in pretty rough shape and the cones busted off a while back. I ended up finding a couple of tiny pink road cones from Goodwill for $1 that were close to the size I needed so I took them and started chopping them up! I wanted to have a way of removing the cones in case something happened to them or I came across a better pair, so I glued in a threaded system of PVC pipes.

I went ahead and sprayed the pack with the first coat of primer to see the blemishes that need fixing and get the painting process started. I have to say, it was pretty depressing, seeing how much repair work still needs to be done, but this is the only thing I have to work on at this point. Until I get my sidearm and EE3 from MLS and some boots from the Cargo Hold, I'll be dancing the jetpack mambo!
