SYPER's Pre Pro 2 Build PP2

Syper

Active Hunter
Wow, I can’t believe I’m even starting this thread. After five years of collecting Fett gear I’m finally ready to start my build. My plan of attack over the years was to look, poke around, ask questions here and there and pin point my direction then pickup items from time to time when available. This quest and I have a love hate relationship but through it all I could always count on TDH to pick my spirit back up again and to give me the encouragement I needed to push forward. Every post or thread that is shared with fellow TDH members is and becomes someone ells pick me up and lets us know that we are not alone. Ok I didn’t mean to get all sappy gee:) BTW my spelling/grammer sucks so sorry if bugs anyone:)
Direction: PP2
1979-80ish, Mom and my sisters took me to a Mervyns department store when I was a kid, they made a big deal about going I didn’t understand why. We get there and there’s a big crowd gathering and a helicopter is landing in the parking lot. The helicopter door opens and out comes holy **** Darth Vader!!! I believe this was promotional for ESB at the time. The signing was great! To be up close to Vader as a kid was nuts but that day I went home with two action figures, a Darth Vader and some guy named Boba Fett with a Yellow gauntlet. I saw ESB and ROTJ just like everyone ells but never understood why my Boba had a yellow Gauntlet. So after hanging around here for a while, I knew I wanted to build a PP2 Fett

Ok to the build
Over the years I have picked up many PP2 items and in the last six months I have been building, sanding painting and weathering items here and there. My hope is to bring everyone up to speed on where I am at this point and then to update this thread as I go.

The Collectiion so far and I do understand some parts still need to be altered for PP2.

Everything looks great so far, especially that you have some found parts! Can't wait to see all the parts put together on you or on a mannequin.

Just one request: could you post some images with that Ever Ready Minilight cardboard back, especially the writings?

Here you go Sir, as requested. Sadly, no information on the back cardboard. For all those who are planning to add this mini light to your gaunt, be prepared to grind it down a bit to get the fitting right.IMG_3027.JPGIMG_3028.JPGIMG_3030.JPGIMG_3031.JPG

I finished my Pre-Pro 2 Shin tools about a month ago after receiving my MojoFett rods. I had the found parts for years and I’m glad these are now done. The jetpack adjustment tool was the interesting part of the set, seeing how that item has not be found or confirmed yet.
TDH had a great thread some time back about a “possible found part” after seeing that I trolled evil-Bay for a vintage Shure microphone that I thought came the closest to the correct size and shape.

Ok here’s the PP2 reference pic

And here’s mine.

And this is what they look like out of the pockets?
IMG_3006.JPGIMG_3010.JPG

yeah I know not that cool looking. If the microphone is left whole it just looks like a pipe. I noticed in some PP2 pic’s the jetpack adjustment pipe tool looks full at the top where it’s tight in the pocket. That same pocket tool looks to taper off and the pocket even appears to fold or curve a bit. On my suit I hoped to create that same look by cutting the microphone in half and adding aluminum foil tap and pushing it down flat. Adding the aluminum foil tape also keeps the jetpack adjustment tool the correct height. Also adding that same foil tap to the stir stick / blade keeps it in place and from falling out.

The shin tools looks great, but the 4th shin tool was not a Shure microphone, at least not that model. Your best chance is to use a simple aluminum or steel tube with these specifications:

Yeah I love all of the information and hard work / research fellow members have done over the years with regards to the jetpack adjustment tool (JAT). But until we get any kind of clarification it’s still unknown and the truth may be as simple as, yeah It’s just a Pipe. And I am more inclined to agree with you that it is more likely just a pipe. I like the feel and look of the microphone but I do have more thoughts on the pipe and I’ll be posting my findings on the thread you linked.

Thanks Brother RafalFett

Any thoughts and assistance in my build is more than welcome, its greatly appreciated. i have collected parts for over 5 years now and it may take me another 5 to complete assembly(god I hope not). It’s just very important that i do PP2 justice.

I'm not saying that the 4th shin tool is an aluminum/steel tube, just that so far this is the best replica until we discover the original used (be that a microphone or everything else).

Now back on track! You still have problems uploading images, because I can't see all the attachments. Did you used the Go Advanced/Manage Attachment function or just simply added the images using the Insert Image icon?

Before Christmas I got this package in the mail, gotta be a Fett part right. I quickly took my package to the man cave, passing and not saying hello to the kids or my wife. I opened the box on my workbench and carefully started to unwrap each piece. The excitement I felt opening each part took me back to being a kid again (what a dork, yeah I know). As the parts started to reveal themselves I could not believe my eyes, Holy ****, Holy Grail, say it’s a dream, I was holding my new set of Pre-Pro 2 Gauntlets from MOW!

Now the hard part, I have years of auto body and paint skills but that was over fifteen years ago. I’m sure it wouldn't take long to bring me up to speed but I don’t want to practice on my PP2 Gauntlets. I’m sure most of you can understand where I’m coming from when I say I don’t want to F stuff up.
