Suspect86's JP paint progress

If I keep up this pace I'll be finished by tomorrow night! I need to learn a little patience so the paint will have a chance to dry.
So far the entire thing has been layered and I plan on keeping it that way.
The further along I get, the more I like my decision to make the thrusters gold. I also added some gold trim around the bottom of the rocket.
I used the new Montana gold spray paint that I found at the store the other day for the red trim and I love it! It has great coverage and a very unique tone to it. It's a little on the bold side right now, but when I mist the whole thing with a little flat black it should set in to a deeper shade very nicely.

Looks good so far! I'm very interested in seeing the other Montana colors being used on this. Also, what brand of silver did you spray on first? I want to make sure the the Montana colors I bought won't react badly to the silver base coat.

At first I used Krylon metallic silver but it wasn't very shiny. It was more of a glossy gray. Not what I was looking for. I went back with Rustoleum metallic silver and got a much better result. It's still not the high gloss polish that I really wanted but it's a huge difference over the Krylon. If I had to go back and do it again I would have sanded off all of the primer and sand the whole thing with 800 grit, then buff it before applying the coat of silver to the pack. The primer holds the paint on, but it also dulls the shine quite a bit. The Montana spray on top of the silver has worked out really well so far. No dripping or clumping at all. A very nice even coat.
Next up, several shades of blue!

All that's left is the blues.

PS, I hate masking tape. I've gone through 3 rolls so far. 2 hours of masking for a total of about 45 seconds of actual painting.

I am absolutely astounded at the results I got from The Montana Gold spray cans!
This stuff has great coverage, dries super fast, and reacts very well with masking fluid.

I have a little bit more misting to do and the black stripe around the top of the pack, but other than that I'm almost finished.

Color list:
Rustoleum "metallic puple"(for the top of the rocket)
Rustoleum "Ivory silk"(middle section of the pack)I don't recomend this paint to anyone! it runs and drips all over the place.
Montana Gold "royal red"(trim)
MG "sugar melon" and "citrus yellow" (mixed together for base of pack)
MG "true blue" misted with MG "aqua marine"
MG "brown"
MG "sand" (both used for weathering)
Rustoleum "flat black" (also misted for weathering.
The thruster nozzles along with the bottom portion of the rocket were treated with gold flake Rub N' Buff

Enjoy!
