I intend on searching everywhere possible for the correct towel but am not sure one will actually turn up. Does anyone have really clear pictures of the artwork ? I want to look into maybe getting it airbrushed or something if I can't find one ( which if someone is selling one please let me know ).

Cool! I will see if they will work for a painter friend. Ideally I will keep looking for the real one.. Just want to try and get some kind of backup plan in order in case I can't find one- have plenty of antique places and shows around my place so it will keep me busy on Sunday mornings now

After delays in shipping for the last 10 days, I now have this awesome piece to add to my pile of Fett parts. Heading to the beach to lay it in the sand and bask in the 40 degree sun now

Since I don't know much about the original towel, is that one painted by your friend, someone else's repro or the real deal?

I am pretty certain that this is the real deal. I never got around to trying to reproduce them as I was waiting for my armor to get here to really focus on the build more. I got this on eBay where it was listed in the Star Trek category. It has a Cannon tag on it which is a company that made towels/wash clothes with Star Wars graphics in that time period. It is in excellent shape. Would be interested in knowing what a fake one would look like to confirm though.

Looks like the real deal to me the only thing that makes it possibly questionable is i dont see the little copyright printed on there. Most of the stuff i had as a kid had that. Of course i dont know that much about these so maybe this item didnt have it to begin with. But it looks like the real deal to me otherwise.

There aren't a ton of close up pics of people who have the towel. Looking at pics Syper posted of his - it has the Lucasfilm info , but his doesn't look to have fringe on the edges. It is also made by Bibb where mine is a Cannon. TrevOwnz posted a pic of his towel which has fringe, no tag but also no copyright info other than the TM next to Star Wars. If others own them and can add some references that would be great!

As far as luck goes , I just am always looking lol. Learning from buying car stuff, if you make it known you want something and are willing to spend money on it some one is usually nice enough to help you out. Many of he things I have obtained have been with the help of people here which I really appreciate. A lot of the stuff is just non stop eBay searches etc. I honestly thought I was going to have to pay a ton of $ for this but consider $122 a very fair price.
