STUNT ROTJ Fett rifles, finally! Big pics.

Well gang, It's finally time to get these made. I'm happy enough with the interest shown, as well as the master rifle, to start the selling of these. Here's the details. This blaster will be an entirely rubber and foam combo, similiar to the Scout Blasters seen on the RPF, and on BikerScout.net. Alot of people here helped make that run a huge success, and I want to take a chance to thanks them one more time! Thanks guys and gals! There will be a hollow, square piece of tubing running through the stock, bracket, and up to through the barrel. This is a Plastruct piece, and not only very srtong and tough to break, but light. The rifle will maintain its shapes rigidly, but will also be able to be pressed, squished, bounced, etc. You'll be able to drop it repeatedly without any breakage or ripping. The blaster should weigh about 2-3 pounds. The blaster will be cast in medium grey, trimmed, and FULLY PAINTED and assembled. It will feature a nice, weathered paintjob, with all the blackwash, rusted, and chipped glory that is this rifle. The scope will have a cool little reticle decal on the inside, and the overall rifle will beclearcoated in semigloss. The model now pictured, is the first resin cast of the gun and scope for my own collection. I don't have a Fett suit yet, so this will go on the wall. I've had a rough time doing runs with oil upping almost every price involved in this, from plastic to shipping costs. But the little things, like keeping the scope small, and finding a few new ways to use the rubber, I've been able to keep the price AS QUOTED in Febuary, between 120-150. The price will INCLUDE SHIPPING AND HANDLING. The will be a domestic price and a international price. $145.00 domestic, USPS Priority w/ Insurance and Delivery Conformation $165.00 international (all international buyers assume the risk of your rifle being seized :doh ) w/ USPS Global Priority w/ Insurance and Customs tracking Paypal only, payable at hotshotdraw@yahoo.com. I know you mentioned trading the scope it comes with the original scope. So would it be easy for me to wait for you to make the other scope (I would really like to stay in this run) or what go ahead with this? What would you prefer. I seriously can't wait!!!!

The above pics are of the master that will be cast.
If the group in teh first run wants teh originl scope, then it may be possible to take custom orders for each version, or just do one or the other.
We'll see, but as always, the customer will dictate the demand.

Sigh . .I guess we'll have to do the long scope! No biggie. Like i said, the molds aren't made yet, so I can whip up the long scope quickly and have it ready. You guys send along the cash when you've got it, and I'll get to work on you gun once the molds are ready (probably on Wednesday of next week).

It was a long day workin' on this for you guys, but here's the long scope master. What a rush cranking that out today!


I'd mount it on the gun, but it's been clayed up for the silicone. Hoping the silicone gets here tommorow.

A note on the gun, it received a last little bit of brushup and final detailing, like the three screw on the bracket, stock cleanup, and a few more pock marks and dings to make the look very convincing.

As an option for overseas buyers, could you maybe ship in 'part' form?
Maybe take the trigger out and ship it in the same box , or detatch at the barrel or stock or something...?

That way the chances of being seized by customs might be slightly less...

Nah, it's all cast as one piece. That would also make it more expensive, with multiping molds having to be made.

Irish, take your time, I'm not rushing it at this point. I failed to realize this is a holiday weekend.
Coupled with how well my last runs have gone, I WAS a bit surpirsed with the small reaction, but am now content to wait a bit more while we all enjoy the start of summer (that's what I get for sitting in a basement all day!). Looks great. How does the foam fit into this? I could see the rubber gun, but would foam look rigid enough like a solid surface?

The rubber is an outer skin that 's brushed onto each ahlve of the mold. After about 15-30 minutes, its expands a little, and the foam is poured into the assembled mold. If it didn't have the support bar, yea, it'd be pretty floppy.

Oh, ok! So the outside of the blaster is rubber and the inside is foam filled with a support bar, making the gun a solid piece. I see now, thanks!

Yep, I'll be doing that one IF this one's a fair success, and after the master comes outta the mold. No silicone today :( I hate that, cause not only is this project underway, but a new Proton Pack kit, and a few last Scout Blasters . . .this hasn't been a good week for props in my house, but hey, the weekend's here! First paint test. I've got the scope cast and pulled, and am very, very happy with how it's come out. Cleanup was straightfrward, and the lines are underneath the scope.
This scope is made out of resin for my own 'wall hanger.' This started as a mid grey, then primed black, misted with grey primer, then drybrushed lighter. I then hit it with a coat of semi gloss, and added the rust. Lastly, I did the gold, silver, and black chips.

Finsihed my rifle this morning.
As much trouble as pouring resin into a mold designed for foam was, I'm very happy to have one of these. Aw who am I kidding . . .I carried it around and 'shot' everything in the house!!

I'm now very confident on moving forward with the buildups, so anyone whose interested, you've been PM'd, and I hope we can get all 15 spots filled!!!

Ummm...let's see...the white stomach with crotch quilted peice (cumberbun), pair of side utility pouches (white or beige), bicep armor, shoulder armor, knee armor, hmmm...those are the highlights. I know you've posted a resin blaster and it looks great. Have you had success with the rubber over foam replicas? I'd very much like to see images of one of those casts.

The details in the first post lay out a casting/assembly/paint time of 10-15 buisness days. I'll update as each gun(s) goes into those stages.

I should have some pics of the first group at the end of the week.

i've also changed the inner support to a slim metal rod, the plastic order never went through (frickin' Plastuct), so I had to improvise, and it worked much better! The final weight of these pups is two pounds.

Now . .all we have to figure out is how to make the rest of the suit light!!! :lol

No, it won't cuase any slow down. But, at this point, they'r taking two days to cast. I've had 5 full bad pulls now . . .and am starting to get a bit frustrated. But I'll get it!!

I did have a quick question. Are you shipping them out as they are completed or in one big mass shipping? Good luck with the rest of the pulls. Practice makes perfect but I hope the bad pulls arn't causing you any loss. Cheers!

I ship them in bulk orders, which makes the process go alot faster. printing paypal shipping labels one at a time can be slightly time consuming. It's also much, much easier to take ten to the post office too!!

I think I've got the casting down. My biggest trouble had been airbubbles in the t-track, but I got ahold of that porblem too. NO I just gotta get them cranked out!!!

Guys if you're curious I own one of Hotshots Biker Scout Pistols. They are amazing. Very good looking and durable. You can drop it and they don't explode. Very well made. I am honored to be at the top of the list for one of these. I didn't have to even think about it! Hotshot really looking forward to these.

Myself as well, I can't imagine doing the amount of troops lined up this summer with my MR. I've done 4 to this point with it and it starts to get a bit "less comfy" after a couple hours, the lighter foam/rubber will be a welcome relief.

iirc, this is one of the big reasons the sci-fire stuff is so expensive. it's REALLY hard to get it right. there's a lot of waste, since you can't easily put filler into squishy.

on the note of air bubbles though, if they are minor, try latex caulking. it comes in black, and will be flexible like the gun. if it bonds well to the material you are using, it could save you some time and money.

One of the things I hate about high priced items like Scifire (not that I'm knocking them, they make great stuff) is that they, like other big ticket item makers in the overall hobby, half to pass the cost on. Thankfully, my time isn't very valueable, and my cost of living's pretty low. I also know alot of 'tricks' to pass along a better price (man, I hope this all doesn't come off as cocky :doh), and I get alot fo shipping supplies for free.

I should note that casting is getting easier, and I've been able to fix up some bad pulls.

I'm always reminded, when doing runs, of the story ofthe man who jumped of the tallest building in the city.

At each window he passed, he could be heard saying 'So far, so good. . . .so far so good . . .'

Small update. Casting is going well, but my internet at home is down. i believe my wireless antenna got hit by lightning. Has to be something like that, cuase i just paid the bill. Grr. . . So I'm here updateing at work.

Yep, got an ESB going, she's just about done too! Want to get that done by the end of July, that way, I can go right into Ghostbusters season (any body else geared up for a proton pack first person shooter?).

Time frame wise, I'm ready to get the first ten ROTJ into boxes, but I'm going natty-bumpo-bonkers without an internet at home to load pics and get shipping info printed (my last 12 Biker Scout blasters are also sitting and waiting). I'm at work now, and am updating from there, but I feel I'm swimming into irresponsible seller waters if I don't ship soon/give better updates.

So, I'm basically torn between getting the thumbs up on the rubber look and feel from you guys, and getting these out quickly.

Let me know what you think, guys. I need a little feedback on this one.
