Studio Scale 15” Jet Pack Patterns

Hey Alan, do you still have a full sized, uncut-up (tiled) version of your templates for the pack? and 15" is the "official" size of the movie used pack? is that the width from side tank to side tank?

I don't know that I have ever hear of an "Offic1al Size." My originally research lead me to believe that 15" was pretty close, but I am now leanning toward 16.5" based on some pics of the actual pack with a yard stick, with that said the perspective in the pic still might be play tricks. I havben't quite finished the revise templates based on hte new size, but they are coming.

Don't forget you also need to account for the size of the wearer, if your 6 feet then go full size, if your 5'2" then a full size pack will look wrong, so you need to scale to your subject.

As for the file I have CAD files available to whoever needs them, just PM me your e-mail and I'll send the on out. Make sure to let me know what format you need.

That's pretty much what I was thinking. I have your original templates for 15", and I've built the rocket already, that's why I was looking to confirm. I'm 5'10", so the 15" pack should be ok, maybe the 16.75 could be better. I'll see how it winds up. Thanks again for all your work! As always, I'm profoundly amazed.

Sorry it should have been 16.5" not 16.75", loosing my mind.

Scaling is the key to a good costume. If everthing is in the right propotions it will look great. I deal with anthropometric data in my real job and everyone is different. For example Jango is a real bear to get to fit for some folks, my Personal Jango templates are a combination of large for the upper body and a modified medium for the legs. I'd be 6'3" if my legs were the right length to matched my torso and weight. (hey that's my story and I'm sticking to it:lol:)

I have done some custome templates for folks that have long legs and a short torso, but once the templates were scaled properly they looked great.

Lucky31,

I still have the Fett fever. Though I'm in a creative slump at the moment, but it won't last forever, though it is begining to feel that way. I still have too many template left to do and maybe then I will get back to work on my own Fett costumes.

where can i find sintra panels..? home depot, lowes?

thanks,

I have finally posted the studio scale 15” wide jet pack Beta Version patterns, they are still a bit rough. I haven’t yet had the chance to cut and paste this baby together and I don’t know when I’ll get the chance in the next couple of months, but I didn’t want to just sit on them so here they are.

If anyone gives them a try, let me know and I’ll help work out any issues that might pop up.

Well I have finally converted the files to standard 8.5 X 11, it took 56 pages to capture it all. This is a PDF file that will print out full size, there are a few sheets in the begining that show how to pieces together the puzzle. One area that might cause some confussion are the panels that cover the side tanks. The covers needed two pages, but only a small section is on the second page. I will try to post a pic showing how the two sheets fit together.

Ok I just had the complete set of jet pack templates printed out at Staples and hopefully I can start working on it soon but I'd like to offer some advice about getting these templates printed......how you use this advice depends on whether you are cruel or kind:

As you all know with the 57 page .pdf file the templates are all broken up and confusing looking at a glance. The girl (16 years old tops) that copied these out for me grabbed them from the printer and started flipping through them. What followed was a lot of confusion on her part and stuttering and stammering as she tried to figure out what went wrong. I'd told her they were templates and she thought she'd goofed somehow and ruined them all until I showed her how they were all broken up into smaller pieces....much to her relief. So if you get them printed feel free to warn your copy centre employee or torture them....your call ;)

Ben, i havent seen the plastic at either home depot or lowes, you usually have to call a 'plastics' distributor. Or a sign shop, who will get them from a plastics distributor in your area, and then charge you double:)

Others here have done this better than me... I know there is an awesome one going right now but I can't remember the members name. Here are my two threads to give you an idea of how I used the WOF templates.

First, I should say that these blueprints of the jet pack are just great, and it's very generous of WoL to contribute them for us. Thanks very much.
I've been trying to print them up and have run into a snag. Is this right: when I get them printed up, the inch and centimeter scale that is on page 30 should be printing up exactly accurate, right? One inch on there should equal one real inch? When I print it, and I set it up the WoL suggested, the inches come out to be about 1.5" long. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

What you have to do is adjust your printer settings and scale the picture size down. Not a lot of printers are actually set to the right size for these printouts, mine was a hair large but not the 50% you have. Hope that helps.

Hey all , I printed out the templates and transferred them to my foamex, but the back of the the pack looks a little small. How tall and how wide is the pack supposed to be?(height minus the rocket)
