Stud lucky day.

Last week I was walking home from the library (okay, the comic book shop) and noticed a store just threw out a cash register. I looked at it and thought about the armor stud threads.

At the time I didn't think it was a good idea to walk down main street with a store register under my arm, so I waited for the darkness of night. When it got dark I went out for a walk (with a screw driver) and pluck the keys from that sucker. Good thing I did. The next day it was gone.

They're not close to the screen versions, but they'll do for a scratch build costume. I figure I can at least sand the top of the keys flat.

Anyway here is a sample shot of a few key. (Rough Measurements: bottom 3/4" square, top 5/8" square and 1/2" high)

Now I just need to know... should they be white or silver?

Good score Fett...
If you didn't want to lose any height to the keys, you can also fill the top with bondo and then sand flat...

that is pretty cool and the dark of night that is great :p but still a good move looks like the shape is right and a nice coat of silver will make them look nice

good find bro
