Stormrider EE3 - ESB Mounts Workout for Kit

Ok, so theres been much debate between a few of us, shinobi, myself, fettdad and shabad.

Now, Ive looked at a few different pics, and some not found here. And I dont belive that the mount is an A frame, at least not the front one.

I belive the rear IS an a frame. I do not believe that the front and rear mount are the same. I believe they may have been fabricated out of two different types of clamps, and that at least one was fabricated, whilt the other is a found part modified.

That being said, ive taken all of the photos, taken what I know about resins, molds, and simplicity of recreation, and this is what ive come up with.

I believe that this is the most acurate mount kit that will be available to date.

The only part not pictured are the 'tabs' on the front clamp.

Input is welcome, but im pretty sure that this is going to be the basis for the SRV1 ESB Scope mounts and scope.

To note the rear has two tabs that will be able to be glued, or fastened together with a screw (which I think was there on the original. The front works on friction and is a fully functional clamp.

Its a clamp over a clamp. Which I think is seen in at least one picture.

The 'top' part of the mount, I think are a piece of metal bent over, and used as a rail for the scope to attach too. Im going to give pieces of plastic, but the individual will need to fashion this piece, because all scopes and scope attachmnts are diffrent.

And, here ya go. You can tell me I suck at any time.

These look real good stormrider, the only detail that I would call attention to and it would be easy for an individual to make, but the scope mount rails brackets should have to holes drilled in them, I've attached a pic for reference.

So, can I get these with my kit as well? ;)

:cheers

^ ^ Yah the scopes backwards for a wierd 'i dont wanna take it all back apart' putting the second mount on reason:)

And as for the 'bent piece' and the 'holes' every scope mounts slightly different, Ill give poly styrene pieces that can be heated and bent then glued on. This will allow for any shape or size scope mount to be added.

Im trying to figure out how I wanna mold the front scope mount, so that it works properly and then these will go in silicone with the scope, knobs and rails.

D'oh! And I went and commented in the other thread :O

Should we get a merge going? No, I guess this is a development.interest thread. OK

The 'shroud' as we will start callin git ^ ^ which I think either shin or shabad said it first,
is a piece of metal that acts like a rail, and a cover for the front of the mount.

Its actually not a bent piece of metal as I originally thought, as a clearer picture shows its faceted. and perfectly angled flat, 45, 90 in three sections. With 2 holes drilled in the 90 portion (front).

That being said, i dont know what it is, and Im not 100% sure how to get the width right for everyone, as everyones scope mounts have a different width. The shroud corresponds to the width of the rails, if that makes sense.

Im 95% sure now, instead of 100 that the front piece is a tube, not a square. Reason being is it _could_ be an optical illusion from the image im working off of. Ill have to 3d it and draw out the lines, to see where the actual lines would line up.

if the tube ends up off center in a 3d drawing at the same angle, im wrong. If the tubes right in the center, its round.

I have parts coming from all over to finish the kit. I need to sand and fill these a bit to make them perfect, and then they will go in rubber this weekend.

Im making two versions of the front. This one and another ill post in a couple days.

Im hoping to have the whole kit done by next week. If I can find a plug greeble.

I havent looked at the price seperately.

The kit im putting together has a scope, scope mounts, brackets and greebles (all) for esb.

I dont see how the mounts would be more than 10-20 shipped max.

But again, im not done with everything I want to do to them yet.

I think that's a reasonable price. The only thing I would not need were the molex connectors. (I bought real ones from Art Andrews) I will stay tuned to this thread because I'm very interested. Thanks!

The whole kit scope, mounts, greebles, molex would be more. But broken down I dont see the mounts being much more than 20 bucks.

Though all the time ive spent on the front, ill be getting 18c a piece;) heh

Theres gonna be two front mounts. People can pick which one they want. Pics this weekend.

That's great stormrider. I think many of us appreciate the time you (and others) spend to have the best looking gear. I also appreciate that you (and others) really try to make the most accurate items at a budge concsious price. Thanks.
