    Apr 21, 2015, 3:14 PM - Son's ROTJ suit for C7 #1

A few months ago my son stated he wanted to put together a suit for C7. I couldn't say "no" due to it being his last year in high school and possibly leaving the nest soon.

So in order to make this happen HUGE THANKS go out to: Collector for the already painted Bobamaker armor and jp with Fettronics display, Taco ammo belt, and CA boots with Mojo spikes. Jediparamedic for the MR helmet we are temporarily using until a less collectible option can be found. Woodman for the girth belt, cape, and braids. Batninja for the vest and neck. Starchild for the Darkside missile. Darkside for the aluminum collar studs. RKD for the calc pad and expander. MOW for the flight suit. Saintnasty for the gloves. Fullmetalfett for the divers buckle. Sci-Fire for the blaster.

I hesitate in revealing I incorporated a few Jango assembly techniques by attaching the armor via two different sizes of Tandy snaps, as well as the girth belt to the cod via three large Tandy snaps. In addition, the gauntlets are my own design and painted by Sleepalot.

We began this project shooting for an SE version, but it seems to have ended in being closer to an AoSW attempt. This was only phase 1, so we'll continue to dial in the accuracy as time and $ allows.

We also left C7 with our first set of upgrades: aluminum knee darts and jetpack thruster parts thanks to Darkside.

All in all my son had a blast and it was a good feeling to see him enjoying himself so much and feeling a part of something larger...the love of Boba Fett.

Thanks guys. My entire knowledge of the Boba suit is minimal, so I'm humbled by your comments and feel nothing but gratitude towards those that helped my son and I with this project.

Here's its new home when it's not being trooped in...

That is great. The suit looks good and it had to have been awesome to share that with your son.

This is awesome. I can't say how bummed I am that I missed you and Q at Celebration. I remember meeting him the first time that I myself trooped. I still have the Megatron card that he gave me.

Excellent work on the Fett. It looks awesome, which is too be expected coming from you, Cruzer.

It's horrible that you force your son to stand in the corner like that all day long....HOW COULD YOU!

Thanks guys, he said he enjoyed himself and will hopefully be allowed to troop a SW night minor league baseball game next month.

Bounty1138, it was really nice chatting with you and your better half, and I only wish we had more time to visit.

Scott, he's as tall as you now and it would be neat seeing you guys troop together some day. I'll have to ask him if he remembers breaking your Boba knee that day. Lol

    Crumdum, lol

Matty Matt, I've seen your build and it's amazing!...so means a lot coming from you.

Here are a few pics of the snaps that were used in the assembly for anyone that's curious. Smaller snaps were used on the chest armor, with larger ones for the shoulders because they see more movement. I like how close they held the armor to the vest and anyone who has used Tandy's snaps already knows they hold on like a champ.

Since I am currently working on a ROTJ SE Boba I like to see the Jango style methods working on this kit as well. I am familiar with this kind of attachment, and may just have to use it now that I see how well it worked for youl

Yep, the snap method worked really well and were so easy to apply. The armor even came with screw studs already epoxied into place, and I am so glad we decided to remove those and apply snaps. The few things not ascertained by the photos are that my son used a silver paint pen to apply paint to the edge of the snaps for placement markings on the vest, he then used a 1/8" leather punch to pre-punch a hole in the fabric for the snap stems, and then sealed the threads around the holes with a couple drops of Hot Stuff CA blue before applying the snaps. In addition, on the armor I told him to keep the snaps about 1/4"-3/8" away from the edges to ensure they wouldn't be visible but would hold the edges snugly. I think he did a really good job attaching his first set of armor to a vest. Here is also a pic of our 30 minute job shin tools we threw together the night before. The two aluminum rods on the upside down remnant from the squeegee are cut from an exacto knife handle. Unfortunately I realized I don't own black tape and will have to pick some up.

What did you use to keep the snaps glued/stuck onto the girth belt?

If you look closely at the pic, it shows how I drilled 4 small holes in the snap base and then hand sewed them on with some upholstery strength thread I picked up at Walmart. Son's ROTJ suit for C7
