Snaps for shoulder armor?

Hi everyone...

Can someone post some reference pics on how you attach snaps to the back of the shoulder bells instead of using velcro? And how you sewed the other part of the snaps into your jumpsuit?

Thanks..

I don't have any pics of mine at the moment, but all you do is attach the male part of the snaps to the shoulder of the vest and glue the female part to the shoulder bells after you line them up. I used Elmer's Pro-Bond glue on mine. Just make sure you rough up the area where the snaps go so you get a good bond.

I also have a question...
How many snaps should go on each piece of armor? And where on each piece should I place the snaps? I mean, should I put 4 snaps near the edges of each chest piece, for example?

Cheers,
Bobo

I have two on each shoulder, three on the collar, five on each chest plate, and eight on the ab plate. I originally had six on the ab, but added two more for a more tighter look. I believe they are glued about a half-inch to an inch from the edges, mainly in the corners. For the ab plate I but three along the bottom.

I sent DarthVader1 some pics of how I attached mine, but have since deleted them from my PC. Hopefully he still has them and can post the pics. If not, I'll remove my armor and re-take the pics.

Thanks BobaFettish! :)
I'll do the same for mine then as well. And I'd love to see those pics, I hope you can get them up somehow.

Oh yeah, do snaps come with some holes where you can sow through them? Or are they attached to some fabric? I'm not familiar with snaps.

Thanks Seeker!
You only need 2 snaps for the shoulders? Don't they flap up and down? Or is that the point?

Bobo

Mine looks pretty similar to SEEKER's with only a few placed differently. Two snaps are more than sufficient on my shoulder armor with no flapping.

Where are your 2 snaps located under each bell?

Juan, my shoulder bells are the same ones you have and snaps work perfectly.

Bartek, they are glued about 3/4's of the way up (right about where they arch back inwards) and about an inch or so from the edges.

So you mean something like this? I'm curious because I'm sceptical about them holding on properly, but if you have them like this, then it must be perfectly fine! ;)

Thanks again,
Bartek

The lower part of the snaps can be riveted on to the jumpsuit or vest using the proper rivets and tools that are meant to be used on snaps.

By the way, what's the screen accurate method of attaching the armor? Is it with snaps?

I'd have to dig the pics up, but all indications are that the armor was bolted on. Brass grommets were put on the vest with the shaft of the bolt running through them and a nut securing them in place.

::Edit:: here is one of the pics
