That looks awesome...The only thing I would adjust is the angle of your valves so the exhaust comes out straight down the middle of the thruster, and maybe have it spray a little wider, but other than that it is sweet!

That looks great Gator Fett! Omega Man, were you talking about the wizard stick, on the site you posted? That looks very possible, although it does not really shoot. Maybe this just takes us back to the compressed air cans. Gator, the only improvement that I really see possible would be to make the air look like it is coming out of the entire nozzle. It's looking so awsome though, don't let me get you down or anything!

I might have some solenoids for sale in the net week or so, my uncle has a PhD in mechanical engineering and is helping to make sure it is safe in case something freezes and shatters and you have a can of propelent ripping the side of your jet pack out and flying everwhere around the room . Well...... that does sound like a cool effect but not safe. if there is enough time before halloween i might offer a few kits of this design but time will tell, I think a smoking jet pack will almot gaurantee you first place at a costume contest

Not exactly a step by step tutorial, but I will have some more info to share soon. I have been too busy finishing my helmet and JP, to document a full step by step tutorial. I did take some key pics along the way, and will try to pull the parts list together this weekend.

I am not a real engineer, I just play one at work. Actually, I am a Mechanical Engineer with a Masters from U of M and 10+ years of working with fluid handling and hydraulic systems. Not a PhD, but I think I know what I am doing.

I would caution you against selling solenoid valves or "kits", that are not made for use with cryogenic liquids. I would not want someone, without access to a PhD engineer, to get into a project that could get them hurt. That is why I have not provided additional info on my JP thrusters, yet. I wanted to make sure I had the system tested properly before, I shared my info with the board. Once I have all my ducks in a row, I will be sure to share the wealth.

I work on water softeners that run on kinetic power, but what do i know, i only have a A.S. in automotive

It was meant was a "rocket scientist" joke but yeah, he does have a PhD, and lost his sense of humor and turned all liberal probably in his 10th year of college to prove it No pun was intended towards anyone here nor was i questioning your design or intelligence. I took your qoute of you saying saying that the liquid would squirt out when the propellent can was upside down and asked him if there was a safer way, i personally dont like frostbite.

Hi all ,reading this thread it strikes me we could kill 2 mynocks with 1 blast bolt here....WIZARDOFFLIGHT said a side effect of the compressed gas can system would be cooling ...I remember this also from my early airbrush days, pre compressor!....what if we could divert a portion of the stream of gas down the arm tubes ,into the gauntlets and also down the back of the wearer and possible up the back of the neck in to the helmet ...basically all the main places you'd sweat in the suit,..all to act as coolant for the wearer.
I have been kicking around coolant ideas for a time ,thinking of a fish tank aerator or similar in the pack to pump cool air round but these run hot out of water ...the gas thing sounds ideal ...we could stop the outbreak of sweaty fetts!
We are doing cossies with pipe work in the right places ,we may as well take advantage of it ...fett is easier to ventilate than a stormie

I finished and tested my final SMOKING JETPACK EXHAUST. And I must say it works fantastic. It clinched me 1st Place in the Motor City Comic Con - Costuem Contest last weekend.

Here is a pic of the components in the pack. and of the nozzle in the thrusters. I will be working on a parts list and diagram to share with the board in the next week or two. I will also be suiting up this Saturday and should have some pics of the JP in action. I'll keep you posted.

    Thanks everyone for your support.

Oh yea. Before anyone asks, the entire pack, including the solenoid valve, piping, battery, wiring, CO2 bottle, and the Bobamaker resin rocket & thrusters all weighs in at just under 11 lbs.

I wore the pack for 3 hours on Saturday, and could hardly tell it was there.

The item on autoloc.com appears to need a heat source like a fog machine (if you read the instructions it hooks to the exhaust manifold) so it might not be a good idea for a jet pack. It sure would be cool on a car though!
