    Sintra Size

What is a good thickness to use ? I've gone over some old treads and got a lot of mixed suggestions . I was thinking of using 6mm but i read a couple of treads where someone says .080 . Can you help me out i was going to start looking around town this week to see who sells sintra .

    Re: Sintra Size

I am very interested in this as well. I finally found a local vendor with some to sell me and would like to get the right size. I would guess about 3mm for the main armor parts like the chest. knees. shoulders and cod. The helmet I would think you would want something more like 1mm or 2mm. I have no guess on the gauntlets. If any of you scratch builders would like to share your expertise I would certainly appreciate it.

I would suggest a using 2 mm, but make sure to compensate for the thickness. also using 1 mm sintra for curved areas on the gauntlet, such as the rocket holder makes it easier to work with. I used 2 mm for mine and they turned out pretty good

    Re: Sintra Size

I went with 3mm for the chest, backplate cod and shoulder armour. The gauntlets were built using 2mm and 1mm sintra as it's easier to work. The helmet was also built from this guage for the same reason. I found it a breeze to work with and was dead chuffed with the results.

    Have fun

Either 2mm or 3mm thick sintra will be fine. Go with which ever you can more readily aquire.

    Re: Sintra Size

Well I found three local places (Toledo, Ohio USA) that cary it in 3mm for between 35 and 50 USD ea. Only one of these had it in 2mm and none had 1mm. In a stroke of luck when I visited one of these vendors after work I scored a free 4' x 4' "scrap" sheet of 3mm white free of charge, woot! Looks like my girls will be getting their armor sooner than expected. Thanks to all for the responses. I still need to find some thinner material for the fine details. The only sintra signs I could fins at Lowes and Home Depot were about 2' x 1' maybe .5mm and cost 8.96 USD each. Seems a bit of a rip off to me. Where is everyone finding these thicker signs they are using?
