Sinew for Wookie braids

Just wondering about some information on where and how much any of you get to use for the wookie braids. I'm doing an ESB Fett and it looks like I'll be needing a small amount of red, blue and even hunter green and about triple that amount in black.

I've found a bunch of different online vendors that sell 50 ft to 50 yards. I'm sure I won't need too much of any of the colors besides black.

Any hints would be cool. I PM'd julie too...(y)

This is just an example of one of the sites I was looking at:

Also, should I get flat or round?

Personally, I like using the flat. For the red, green & blue a 20 yard spool should be enough:

Unfortunately, they don't carry the red, green or blue. I generally get those off of ebay.

The black you can get from JoAnn's or Michaels. In the metro Atlanta area they run $3.49-$4.99 for a 20 yard spool. You'll need about 3 of those for one set of braids.

Well it all came in today and I got right to it. The braids came out great and I got a little creative. I strayed just a tad from the whole canon wookie braid deal. Thanks again Julie. This stuff was super reasonable, easy to work with and made a huge difference in the braid's appearance. It's just what they needed to come to life!

Glad I could be of help. :) That's my favorite store to get sinew from. I've been buying from them for over 2 years.

Now post some pics of your braids!!!!!

Here you go...mind you I went with a light brown hair braid instead of the blonde. I did a few minor variations to add some of my local 501st squad colors (Makaze!). I have to finish up the back ends of the brown and silver/grey braids (comb them out). And lastly, I need to weather the braids and sinew sections.

Awesome...thanks! I thought they may a bit much but that makes me feel good... I finished the other ends last night so I just have to weather them now...
