Hey everyone, I apologize for the disappearance.

I've been dealing with another round of health problems due to complications from my gallbladder surgery last year. It has been a battle for awhile now. It will cause me to be very sick a couple days in a row, then the next couple days I may not be actively sick, but am so sore from being sick the days before that I still can't really accomplish much. Here I thought having the gallbladder out would have solved the problem, and it ended up causing more issues.

Thankfully I have another doctor's appointment tomorrow afternoon, and should hopefully be put on the right meds to take care of the symptoms. I will most likely have to take them for life, since there isn't any way to cure the root of the problem yet. As long as I can get back to a relatively normal life I will be thankful.

I apologize for not dropping in to let everyone know what was up, but with not being able to work, I lost my internet access temporarily. Finances have been really tight the past few weeks. My internet should hopefully stay on permanently now, and I will be back to forming armor and shipping orders within the next few days. I will need a couple days for the meds to start taking effect, but I really hope to be back at it by the later part of the week.

I have some orders near completion, and once I finish up a few stray parts can have them out the door. I will get back with everyone later this week to give more specific updates. I need the next couple days to focus on getting better.

Thank you all for your understanding.

Hi, thank you for letting us know what's going on. I don't mind waiting if there is some communication :) When you pay someone and he doesn't answer it's normal to get nervous...
I hope you get better and overcome the symptoms soon. ;)

Drink water, change your socks. Sorry, I've been in the Army too long- they have me thinking that is the answer to everything. Hope you bounce back man. Don't do anything I wouldn't do.

Long post, but I need to share this... Rimshot does good work despite the majority of this thread being anger over his lack of communication and slow turnaround. I bought the mis-pulls and mess-ups he was selling back in April. The stuff I got (other than the resin pieces) was all top notch, and I fail to see the defect in many of the pieces. I actually paid for the lot because included were two gauntlet tops that he said were good pulls, but from an older mold (as stated earlier in the thread, he updated the molds and has yet to post pictures). I didn't look too carefully at the picture in his for-sale thread, and I didn't read his comments early in this thread about the gauntlet molds being updated. I waited a month before I started working on em, and now that I'm almost done painting and getting ready to add greebles, here's my notes ....

1 - They're a little "fat." Rimshot said on page 1 that he has big arms and made them wide to accomodate more people. They're about the length of the WOF templates, but the rounded edges and extra width make some parts look a little off when you compare em to photos in the gallery.

2, 3 & 4 - The grappling rope housing (i think that's what the box on outer side of right gauntlet) was a separate piece, that had to be cut pretty precisely (maybe he trims a lot more when its not a mis-pull, so this might not apply to you guys) to line up. Also, the back piece of right gauntlet (where the big hose attaches) is missing. I cut that out of sintra using WOF templates and it fit pretty well. If you're seriously into accuracy, you'll notice there are supposed to be indentations like overlapping layers at the back of both gauntlets, and the front of the right one. Again, sintra on the inside (which you should probably do anyway to reinforce on sides where hinges and whatever clasp you use sit).

I mention these because back when this thread started I thought, "that'd make guantlets, the hardest armor part to make yourself, easy for a reasonable price. I just have to add hinges and greebles. With the lot I bought (no clamshell bottoms) I knew I'd have to do some work, but even if I'd gotten the shells with the tops, there's still a lot to do.

I really wish I'd taken pictures before I started working on em (although mine are just like the picture at start of thread) because it wasn't until I was almost ready to begin painting that I noticed the rest of these issues.

5 - The right gaunt does not have the little nozzle part above the darts, nor does it have that curved edge where the nozzle sits. The edge that the darts stick out of is a little too straight and short for my tastes (because it's missing that extra layer where the curved edge starts). I fixed these pretty easily, by just cutting away the area above the darts and curving a piece of sintra to fit there.

6 - The rounded edges on everything (I know, a side effect of vacu-forming) make it impossible to sit a keypad on the left gauntlet without cutting and rebuilding that space with sharper corners.

I hope this was helpful to some of you. Rimshot's materials and craftsmanship are great, even if his communication (often due to issues that are out of his control) is not so good.

Kinda off topic - I realize that most of my posts on TDH are negative criticisms, but that's mostly because I hate scrolling through a bunch of "good job" posts before I get to helpful info in a thread. I'd rather detail criticism than generalize approval, if that makes sense.

3 weeks after that post and I haven't got any PM. I hope you are OK Rimshot.

Hi Rimshot, I'm definitely moving from the UK so please ensure that you ship my stuff to the address in SPAIN that I have sent you by PM.
Thanks.
Santiago.

Hey man, it's been a month since your last post. Is everything all right? I'll be leaving Iraq soon so let me know about how much longer it will be if you can. I hope everything went well with your condition.

Yes, I'm worried. I think I've lost $465 (€346.25). I know that it would be unfair to accuse him if he's having health problems but, if you can't provide a service or product, you should refund the money until you're ready to provide it or, at least, keep in touch with your customers. Doing that is only a one-click-effort action. :(

Being on the other side of the Atlantic ocean doesn't help either. If I were in the USA it would be easier to track him as another forum user had to do because of a similar case with him in the past. :'(

Come on man, you're not having a relapse of 2009 are you? You asked for a second chance and you were given it. I'd love to give you the benefit of the doubt, but I am getting skeptical and more than a little nervous I'll never see that money OR that armor.

Hi, Has anyone heard from Rimshot at all.??? I've tried emailing and NOTHING. getting very worried.?
anyone know his address.???
steve
