    Sidearm Barrel

can anyone tell me what is used for the barrel ends in this picture? are they some kind of connector, or are these part of a mold the creator has? just curious, i want to make my own barrel for my modified sidearm, and would like to use these if i can find them at a hardware store or something...thanks!

I think they are CNC machined.

    Re: Sidearm Barrel

Looks like the maker has used a 'straight knurling' tool to create that look... I would guess those on a budget or scratching theirs could use some form of cable connector sleeve? these have the same detail...

i like the 3rd one the best, cause it is round...but depending on how well they will attatch to the barrel is what will determine which one i use....

    I like the third one.

Coaxial connectors can look pretty good too. RadioShack carries quite a few.

    Re: Sidearm Barrel

ok, i need to figure out how to get the tip connected to the barrel...i have used some coaxial connectors, and need a threaded rod that is M 7 X 1 , that is what the thread on the inside of the connector is...female part, into to the tip...i would like to find the 1/2 in barrel, whatever metal i find, and get an insert that same size, so the other end of the rod would go into the insert and then into the barrel...or should i try to find the 1/2 in pipe with the INNER part threaded to match the threaded bolt i am wanting to use to connect the tip to the barrel...am i making any sense guys, or am i clear as mud? any help or suggestions would be great...maybe i should post a pic of the tip i have put together...

    What does CNC'd mean

    Re: Sidearm Barrel

yes bobaphett, i have studied your thread quite intensely...love what you did there...the question is, what is cnc'd? i want to match that, so i was wondering if you used individual pieces, or if the whole barrel and tip was just one piece...doesnt really matter now, i have mardon to fall back on, getting one of his holsters, and if my modification on my sidearm find doesnt work, ill get his sidearm too!! no offense anyone, just really difficult to find answers on this sidearm...was wanting to scratchbuild, but not much info, and i am not skilled enough yet to follow our forum's wizard's templates... thanks for staying with me guys!!

    CNC = Computer Numerical Control

CNC refers to a computer controlled lathe or mill that reads a program to machine metal parts. The barrel's I made are a 3pc aluminum assembly that was turned on a lathe with a CNC control.

freakin' cool...you got any let, mark? lying around gathering dust...some that you may want to part with...another question, sir, where to i find the tubing or rod that has the thread "drilled" into it? the thread is inside, not outside? i need m7 thread on the inside of a tube to really lock down what i am doing ...

    Re: Sidearm Barrel

I have a couple barrels left they are $75 shipped within the US.

The threaded portions were not pre-existing the machine added them. For the external threads (bolt) were turned on the lathe. The internal threads (nut) were drilled then tapped. I strated with solid rods then machined all of the features.

    Re: Sidearm Barrel

so it takes a high dollar machine to have that kind of work done...gotcha!! i am trying to use coaxial connectors for the tip and end, and have the barrel drilled like you speak...i got a vintage game system that had a pistol in it to use for the scratchbuild frame, so to speak...i am in contact with a company as we speak to see if they can do this as well...if the cost is more than 75, i will be contacting you, phett!! thanks for your input here...really appreciate it!!
