Just wanted to share what I picked up at the Show of Shows Military Show. I was pretty excited.

I've attended military shows for years and never actually seen one, so it was pretty sweet. I must have been stopped a dozen times as I carried it around by people wondering what it was, so I got to educate on the Star Wars connection. I could have flipped it several times for a profit. LOL.

Very cool. Looks well taken care of. I like the look of these unmodified, no wonder it was a people-stopper while carrying it around.

Thanks! It is tempting to modify, but I'm sure I'll keep it original. I'm locating some flares to shoot out of it. It is still fully functional.

The dealer was asking $1200. I ended up getting it for $800 cash.

The few searches I've done suggest that is a pretty sweet deal. Nice! If you keep it unmodified, it might be cool to display it with some or all of the additional parts of the prop Fett blaster, but leave them all in their original state. Sort of like one of those expanded-view parts diagrams. That's almost more interesting to me than the completed prop. I know I enjoy having my graflex on my desk with the original flash reflector still on it. People sort of recognize it at first, and then I get to tell a more interesting story than just "yep, that's a lightsaber."

edit: Not that an accurate, completed graflex saber isn't interesting, but it's so iconic and so embedded in their childhoods, people can't really wrap their heads around it originally being something else unless they hold it in their hands.

Haha.... Great question. I collect a lot of military stuff too and I like having the original piece (It's one of many). Plus, I'm wanting to fire it. The funny thing is it is only a few hundred $ more than the cast kit I purchased. Who knows? It just seems a shame to modify a piece of military history, but maybe I'll get in the mood. Thanks for the complements.
