SE Fett Question... Please help.

Amen! :lol:lol::lol: I'm beginning to wonder if we've been running the wrong direction.... What if they actually started with a brown girth, and then dyed it red? It would explain why it reacts so dramatically due to light and angle.

Actually, I think it's very possible the original one faded and they might have tried to fresh it up a little / reconditioning it. Or they might have made a new one I guess. But they could have redyed the brown as you say, and yes, I tend to believe that was what happened. You can only load so much color into cloth, so if some brown was still in there, but had faded, and they tried to add more on top, only some of it would have taken, alterating the overall look without a doubt.

As far as light and angle, the mohair fibers do not take dye evenly. At least on mine it doesn't. This further causes darkening and lighting variations. This helps when recreating it if you're dying your girth. I have not tried the latex stain method, but my guess would be that it would be an even, uniform red and that you would not be able to duplicate the way the mohair reacts exactly. Maybe someone who had gone the latex stain route can chime in as to whether the color is uniform or the uneven color remains?

thanks! didnt think it looked like JB...:)

Speaking of which, does anyone know how tall each are?

On Youtube, JB was talking about the fit of the suit and that he was 6 foot and wore a size 10 shoe. Having seen him in person, I'm thinking he's really like 5-11 while wearing shoes. Maybe. But maybe even shorter. 5-10 and a half?

Don B, meanwhile, seems to fill the suit lengthwise in a manner closer to the model for the prepro 2. I sent an message to Don to see if he'd mind giving his measurements. Though I told him I was doing a display, I'm sure he thought I was some kinda nut.

Overall, I suspect JB would be like 5-11 and DB at 6-1.

DON BIES

...is a member over at The Replica Prop forum, and a real nice guy. I asked him specifically about the ROTJ SE Fett suit a few months ago, and he told me this little story. I'll summarize his response below:

The decision was made relatively last minute to include some extra scenes with Boba hanging out with the dancing girls. Don and another guy raced over to the Archives during lunch (from what I remember) and assembled a suit from what pieces they could readily get their hands on. If you notice, this included the DAMAGED jetpack from the Sarlac/Sail Barge scene. You can see the damage to the back of the jetpack in the SE new footage as Boba caresses the dancing girl's chin and turns sideways to the camera. I asked Don specifically about using the damaged jetpack in the SE scenes for Jabba's palace, since technically the damage shouldn't be there, yet - not until Han bashes the back of the jetpack on the Skiff and sends Boba tumbling into the side of the sail barge.

This is the reason he gave me.

I'll ask him if he wouldn't mind giving us his height.

He said he was 6 ft when he got the part, according to what he mentioned on Youtube, but I don't know how accurate that was. You look to be the same height without the lifts.

I thought he was exactly the same height as me or even a little shorter when I saw him in person, and I am also 5'11--possibly a little taller depending upon the shoes.
