Scratchbuilt Boba Boots... just started

Hello... I've been lurking around here over a year now... I've started my boots...

I bought these $13 clearance Rt. 66 chelsea boots at k-mart last week. They are brown suede with a thick sole and a heel. I took some foam (from an old sandal) and cut/ shaped it to fit in the triangular gap between the heel and bottom of the sole.

I rubber cemented that in. I am filling in the shape with silicone caulk that will dry firm but stretch. I have worn the shoes once so far for a few minutes and they seen to be OK.

I gave them a final shape up and sprayed the entire sole with that spray on rubber. (a few times for extra support)

I primed and painted the shoes and soles with Rustoleum gray primer. I will later paint the soles a lighter gray with latex paint so it remains flexible and won't crack/ peel. I found a lighter gray can of primer for that.

I will then spray paint the rest of the shoe to the appropriate colors. I will also add piping as well.

I think the suede gives the general impression of cloth. I must give it several coatings though.

Let me know what you think. Thanks!

Different... wanna see how these turn out.

I like how you 'filled' the heal bridge area? (y)
What do you intend on using for the piping?

I bought black Danner boot laces and glued them on my boots. I tried using the piping first but didn't like how it was turning out.
