scratch built jetpack materials preferences?

Hey all, I'm considering building a new Holiday Special Boba Fett, and considering doing a lot of it from scratch this time around (using the available templates and such).

As a good starting project to keep me busy for a while, I think starting on the jetpack would be fun. I've seen people use foam core, cardboard, paper/fiberglass, foam blocks, poster board, and whatever else as the primary materials for construction.

I was wondering what, if any, is the consensus on primary building materials for scratch built jetpacks? And I'm assuming that if there IS a consensus, it is because of price, availabilty, relative strength, and ease of use. Or am I just wrong in that assumption all together? lol
