    Jan 20, 2014, 7:46 PM - Scratch Build Webley ESB Blaster #1

    I used WOF's templates on this build. The barrel is a black PVC pipe. I took a smaller white PVC pipe, cut a slit lengthwise and epoxied it inside. I then tapered the outer black pipe on a belt sander to give it a taper. The barrel tip is a sink tube. The scope mounts were made from a black PVC coupler and a black reducer. The rest is sheet plastic from a sign shop ABS, PVC not sure. The white is styrene. Plenty left to do. I used HO scale model train corrugated aluminum sheet over JB QUICk WELD to mold the thumb ridges at the rear of the barrel.

    The hand grip was cast in fiberglass. The stock was made from two 3/4 pieces of oak glued together, band sawed and wood rasped to shape. The sling was cut from a thrift store belt. Scope is made from 2 cheap scopes I found on ebay. So far this has been really cheap to make.

    Thanks, thebeans. I started on this last fall. We had some "warm" weather up north, and I did some more work on it. The scope mounts are a little hard to find. PM me for a tip.

    Finally warming up in the Midwest and I can work outside. Here is my progress. This will get black paint and greeblies. It is not completed. I put a slot a the bottom of the barrel that slides onto the screw in my trigger section. This way I don't have to glue it all together and I have the option to disassemble and add later upgrades. The hand grip is a casting of a real one from a board member. Can some one chime in on the gun stock? Should the hand grip attach along the red line down the center, or is mine correct?

    Superb. That is an impressive scratchbuild. I think your line looks the best too in terms of alignment and the lines of the overall webley design.

    Thanks guys. I poured over a lot of images to try to get the small details right. I do know that my "pistol" section is too thick and I have two screws instead of one holding the D grip on. I also have a brass screw in the grip and a chose t-nuts on the sling. Still waiting on greebles. I don't want to scratch those parts.

    I'm calling it done. Purchased earth plugs, connecting rod casts and real molex blocks. Made the red box things.

    Added a black, elastic band through the holes of each pair the molex blocks. This way if one gets bumped loose, it will stay with the blaster.

    Wow that's one great build, very impressive, you wouldn't know you had scratch built it if yo had just thrown up picks of the complete Blaster

    That's awesome! I'm also going to build my own EE-3 Blaster, how did you scale the stock and pistol? I've tried and have got no success, maybe you could help me?

    Kylecanadian;

    Thanks. I started with the Wizard of Flight templates available here on TDH. I seem to recall that I searched posts for dimensions too to sort of double check. The cast of of the Webley hand grip I got helped, but the templates make for a nice replica. I have no idea if they are dead on accurate though. Good luck with your build. Links...

    Really nice blaster man, Defiantly going to keep these templates in mind. Though, I am not too crafty like you. Will probably be asking someone to make it.

    Wow! Your EE-3 is incredible. I mean, it is hard to believe that you just made that. Serious skills, man.

    You really want straight knurled inserts as these are what's on a real Webley, M3 or M4 thread is closest (metric) size, the OD of the inserts is about 8mm.

    Tested one with a magnet, deffo steel. Was tempted to push one out to see exactly what type knurl they are but don't wanna risk damaging the wood.

    Found some 8mm knurled thumb nuts with a 3mm bolt thread from China on ebay. I drilled an inset and glued one in. It is just there to look correct. Did did a few extra up grades to make the D grip stock attachment look more accurate. Embedded a bolt in It, (the nut is hidden under the cast grip) filled in the old holes and put in a single screw on the left side. I also filled in the holes that attach the D grip to the stock, and drilled new smaller holes and and insets. I reduced the diameter of the two screw heads. Also new, more accurate sling. I did not detail both red boxes.
