Is anyone currently producing rubber Fett rifles? There would seem to be a huge market for these, now that Hyperfirm isn't producing anymore.

So, rubber casters, who is up to the task?
The Hyperfirm guys said that they had ESB Fett blasters when I emailed them about 2 months ago... Was that just the last of their stock, or...?
I would love to do a ROTJ but, I need a base gun. I have the rest of the parts or I can have them made.
Asok, you'd think someone would offer one up to you. Would you be able to work a deal with them, say a free rubber version, if they let you borrow theirs to cast?
I would love a rubber blaster!! I've been looking out for one, if someone does start to make runs, I am very interested.
Me too! Lol, I can just see everyone wacking each other with their blasters. Hmm...wait, that didn't come out right.
I think alot of people would like to get their hands on one.Currently the market value on these has gone through the roof!

So who wants to 'donate' their W&S to Asok for research and development?
So how much might a rubber blaster run?
Seeing I was looking into this for an E11 here goes. If I would do one I would want to use all found parts. Not copies. So, we would need:
W&S
scope
machined barrel
fins
Bomb halfs - have that
V8 cover - have that
other plate - trying to have it made
Then about 6 gallons of stuff to make the mold at about $150 for 2 gallons
Wood to make the forums.
So, to make the mold could cost over $1,000 and not a single one has been made. Not sure on the resin yet. The stuff that I have been using is about $45 a gallon. So, is is not a cheap idea.
I would but mine's not accurate enough and it's esb. No stock details and no blocks. made from scratch ( a .357 and reworked with scratch parts to make the barrel). he would have to smooth out some rough ( bondo) on one side. But at least it wouldn't be a recast hunh
Id be interested no matter what was made, but would PREFER to get my hands on an ESB!!

If got a real one. If you wanna use it, Id bee more than willing to offer it to the services Bill.
Asok, would you be selling W&S kits with the ESB and ROTJ parts separately? Or would you end up making a mould for both the ESB and ROTJ rifle?
Andy
find enough people to prepay for one and you've got the broke part taken care of, and it looks like Gilmore of OK has one he'd be willing to let you use for the project. X times Y = MOLD where X= number or people willing to prepay, Y = the price you are wanting to charge for the finished product and MOLD = the total price of making the mold and getting started.
BUMP!
Still interested...

i've got to imagine a lot of people would want these if this project comes together. almost everyone who has seen my hyperfirm has commented on wanting one![]()
Do we have someone who has a real W&S to lend Asok? Without that, this project is going nowhere fast.
I will be willing to pre-pay in order to help out Asok for the mould and casting.
Same here.I will be willing to pre-pay in order to help out Asok for the mould and casting.
Also, how much does a real W&S cost?

I think he meant I've, not If... but I could be wrong. Someone might want to send Gilmore of OK a PM.If got a real one. If you wanna use it, Id bee more than willing to offer it to the services Bill

I'd just like to add to this thread because I don't wan't to see Asok get pressured into something he might not be prepared to tackle. I'm not saying anything against Asok and his molding/casting abilities but as far as reproduction is concerned these blasters are tough. I have PERSONALLY been to the shop and seen the guns and the molds. I know exaclty what products are used and the process in which these casting are created. IT IS NOT AS EASY AS POURING IN SOME GOO and popping out a rubber gun. It is a tricky multi-step process where many mistakes can be made and a lot of wasted time and money spent if you make mistakes.
I don't mean to come off as an arse, I just want to offer fair warning to anyone thinking of stepping into the shoes. Heck I've thought about it many times.
I don't think I could have said it better. I had to make 2 sets of molds to get the Jango knees. That was a lot of money down the drain.
I just don't want to get everybody hopes up, spend a bunch of money, and have almost nothing when I was done.
As an update, I have talked to people and can get all the found parts. I am working on getting some parts CNC machined to complete the blaster. If I do this, I want to do it right, not close. Seeing that I still need a ROTJ blaster myself, I still working on this.
I'm currently working on a ROTJ version, still lots of issues to work out.
How come Hyperfirm stopped? Or that a touchy subject?
I believe they just don't have the time to commit to these at the moment. Postmordem and the boys have a movie project on the go. It will be a long time before you see another hyperfirm for sale from them.
...ya whats going on with those hyperfirm guys???![]()

PS everyone should listen to what MS has to say on the subject...he does various molds and casting himself and he can intelligently say how difficult, time consuming, and costly a project can become...
You hit the nail on the head bud!!! These guns arnt as simple as that, infact if theres a defect like bubbles or a spot that the rubber skin didnt make it to your out of luck... you get a defect in your mould causing a deformation in your casting... your out of luck... you cant simply just sand and fill these. They have to be almost ready to go out of the mold.
Allthough MS, you did prove wise in tackling the foam inserts for the helmets. If any one can do it you can.Allthough I wouldnt blame you for not wanting to mess with it. *makes money finger jesture* The molds sound pricy to do right.

I think the guys have pretty much hit the nail on the head here. There really isn't no fixing a rubber mould.
I understand about the moulding, but I'll provide monitarily if this project does infact get off of the ground![]()
